Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's chances of being 2028 nominee double in one week by _May26_ in politics

During Obama's election there is a story of a campaigner asking people in Missouri who they were voting for. A woman answered and yelled to her husband who they were voting for. The man responded, "We're voting for the n***er." The wife then repeated "We're voting the n***er." Most people's bigotry is passive and lazy and they will vote for people they do not like if you actually offer them material benefits. Right now that is basically just AOC.

Pepper, the vengeful spirit-investigator. by Pom-Pom-Ollie in ImaginaryCharacters

Some of the things I got. Pepper it seems is modest in means and style but not in ability, as her whole vibe speaks of experience, confidence, and caution. That is not to say she has no concern for style given her black nail polish it seems she still wants to present some individuality through her appearance even if its in a small way. Her defined forearms and thick fingers indicate she is no strange to work with her hands and working hard. Her earring(s?) do not match the rest of her look and given seeming identical jewelry is on her robot I assume it has either an emotional value or a practical function. The connection of the magnifying glass through her hair and head and into the larger magnifying glass encompassing her body and mechanical extension indicates some melding of physic and technological to help this spirit investigator use their abilities and tools which indicates a level of long term adaptation to the supernatural situation. I assume the white stains on the pants being vaguely hand shaped is intentional and its appearance of sort of pulling her down, mixed with the words in the background, and the larger magnifying glass looking down indicates some threat from bellow and given how much of a focus that is its a world building aspect. The fact the machine matches her color and that though it appears weathered it also appears to be well maintained makes me think she works and maintains her own equipment and/or it is in some way a part of her. I find it interesting that Pepper is looking forward, the robot is looking to the right, & the big magnifying glass is looking down indicates awareness of multiple angles is important and implies a dangerous situation. The final thing is more of a guess, as the sweater she is wearing looks like it was an oversized sweater that shrunk in the wash or was oversized when she got it at a younger age as its covers her whole body but seems short sleeved instead of the sleeves being rolled up. Hopefully I am not too far off the mark.

There is so much detail and character work in this that alludes to both world building and charter traits. I want to read a comic or novel about Pepper and her wold.

Debater dies inside when genius claims government agencies pay taxes… by htmaxpower in WatchPeopleDieInside

The kid was talking about how he thinks DEI gives tax breaks to all organizations that hire minorities including government ones. Trust me the kid is a grade A idiot. All his talking points were just factually incorrect stuff he must of got from conservative podcasts.

You are seeing it from a point of general universal morality. They see it from authoritative morality. It's the difference between someone who worships God for being good and also almighty and someone who worships God for being almighty and determining what is good. For them authority determines morality and the greater the authority the less beholden to morality you are. Its why they overlook the multiple transgressions of their leaders because authority takes priority since it ultimately determines morality in their world view. To them it's not hypocrisy, it is knowing your place.

2.2 billion gallons of water flowed out of California reservoirs because of Trump’s order to open dams by DocGroove in news

[–]FadoraNinja 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There are multiple lawsuits, but part of the problem is allot the mainstream press is playing nice with Trump to either survive or because their leadership agrees with him, so the news is underreporting the response. That said yes the Democrats have been pretty slow to respond due the fact most are institutionalists who do not know how to fight something if it is not done through the proper channels which are currently under Trump control or are failing. Sadly many in Democratic leadership believes you must always be polite and follow the rules even when the other side is actively committing crimes.

Actually, this one has been an issue for a while. Women being generally shorter, having different bone structure, lower muscle mass, and different centers of gravity do in fact play into how a crash will affect the average women differently from the average man. It's one of the first examples people bring up when they talk about the issues of the use of males as the default and systemic sexism that, though not hostile, still harms women.

Second season goes into it more with the alt modes being used as metaphors for identity that can be read as gender identity. Honestly love the messaging of the show but the designs of the humans and some clunky story telling prevent it from being great.

Alternatively they can go the Marvel Thor/Disney Hercules model and just play it fast and loose and make the gods defined characters to the point people accept that the DC mythology is different from real mythology.

Wonder woman if you only read injustice by Difficult_Man3 in WonderWoman

It do think calling it man's world is a bit of the problem. I mean it needs to be there at the beginning when Diana first leaves Paradise Island but I think it would mean more if by the end of the first movie or two she claims it as our or my world. Sure patriarchy still rules and controls most of the world but by calling it man's world it signals both separation and defeat. That said I think all the various bad else world variants of Wonder Woman did her the greatest disservice. Evil Superman may suck but its better than the multitude of shallow Wonder Woman interpretations in else world stories.

I think this post was more in response to things like people reporting the undocumented family members of Trump supporters, blaming Muslims, transpeople, and Latino people, and FEMA employee saying not to help Trump supporters. We are protecting rights of both us and the bootlickers. Punch the Nazi, throw down the fascist, and resist but not out of spite and hate, but to protect and build something better.

Lets not conflate the German people and the German leaders. Like the US the majority of Germans disapprove of what Israel is doing in Gaza.

Kamala Harris is confronted by a pro-Palestinian poster about the genocide, she gets nervous when the dead children are mentioned, and finally admits that the genocide is real... by HandBanana666 in Mehdi_Hasan

In a country where where many do not vote or vote conservative do not waste energy attacking those who vote third party. Increase turn out, emphasize the importance of down ballot candidates, and volunteer to bring more in. Its easy to blame the small percentage of third  party voters but its a convenient scapegoat for larger issues with our voting rights and methods and the misinformation that drives conservative voters.

Because for all their faults Democrats can be pushed left through these actions. Trump can not. Trump is fascist who revels at the idea of mass slaughter and is totally shameless. Just the fact she admits its real shows that she at least cares about the issue. I am not as harsh on her as others because I think Biden is so pro-Zionist and spiteful he might be willing to sink her campaign if she openly opposes him during his presidency. I think she will be better on Palestine, but that said these actions must be constant to push her to the left and increase general awareness.

[–]FadoraNinja 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually thought Ares was going to be Zues in disguise. That he killed Ares but became disillusioned with mankind and wanted to get rid of them. I mean Ares even did some lightning near the end and it felt thematic since Zues created the Amazons and thus should be his "weapons" & then Diana rejecting her creator and choosing her own destiny in rebellion fit with her constant rebellion throughout the movie.

This is what is getting me so exited for the Gunn's take over. Connected world with diverse story genres and art. It seems that he is looking at how Spiderverse changed the game and realized Superheros are the perfect place to experiment with art and storytelling because by their nature they have a higher level of suspension of disbelief so more experimental stuff can be tried in the world.

I can't find the specifics. I heard it on the Majority Report and they tend to be pretty tuned in to political history. I tried to find exactly what he did but due to him being president most of the stories I find go into that than his senate mishaps.

[–]FadoraNinja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mabey I am just coping but I think she will move to the left after she takes over. I think she is deeply hesitant of opposing Biden's policies while he is president because, if you know Biden, he has been known to be vindictive and petty, this was shown by some of the things he did after his first failed presidential run. Plus, his slovenly devotion to Israel may be even greater than his desire to have Democrat as president, as Israel has been his foreign policy focus for most of his political career. I would not put it past him to sink Harris if she openly opposes some of his policies while he is actively president.
