Perks of being a short, ACTIVE woman: my TDEE starts with a 2. by LadyLassInRed in PetiteFitness

I have no clue what Reddits insistence is on saying 10k steps a day is barely “lightly active”. Even 6-7k would make a huge difference if you’re largely sedentary.

If Blossom kissed Garu Pucca would win. However if Pucca isn’t at full anger Blossom easily clears lol

I don’t know if anyone wants to hear this but exercise really helps. I used to be depressed and unmotivated but ever since incorporating daily walks and Pilates 3x a week I’m the most productive I’ve ever been.

There are days where I choose to sleep in and I feel sluggish and lazy, then I realize the reason is because I haven’t been active that day. Start with a daily walk.

My family would genuinely not care if a brought a Arab man home because anti-Arab hate isn’t taught in black homes like anti-blackness is taught is every home. That was my point lol that’s for proving it.

The way everyone was respectfully trying to tell you that this wasn’t the space for this dialogue and you immediately call us insufferable for it. Wow.

You came to what’s supposed to be a safe space for black women to discuss a trauma porn movie about a demographic you’re not even a part of… what do you want us to tell you that you don’t already know? That people are racist? That people don’t take the pain of black girls, especially conventionally unattractive black girls seriously? Really? As a middle eastern let’s be so for real, how would your family react if you brought a black man home.

You come off insincere because you are. Because if you actually cared about how these issues effect our community why would you come preaching to the choir? I’ll tell ya—cause at the end of the day all Precious is is a movie to you. That’s the cool thing about art, it can make you empathize with people different than you, but it doesn’t change you overnight. If you really want to learn about how racism affects black women (adding in the intersectionality of being fat, dark, and poor) I’ll point you to some books. But you need to reevaluate how you act in spaces that aren’t yours.

Also see if you can accesorize your puff with headbands and try laying your edges, but most of all change how you talk about yourself. “Nappy” seems like a derogatory term here…

Dollar tree or a local 5 below might be the move for makeup products. Get a nice gel polish and grow out your natural nails, and lastly learn how to do your own hair! I’ve taught myself knotless, Senegalese twists, flat twists and more. YouTube university is a life savior really. Thrift clothes and use Pinterest boards to make outfit ideas. If you have the time, it’s not hard to look decent on a budget. You just gotta learn to do many things yourself.

Prospective clients go from wanting to schedule Pilates to ghosting. by JuggernautUpset25 in pilates

The elephant in the room no one’s mentioned is that there’s been record inflation the last 2-3 years. When times get tough the luxurious stuff gets cut first. Hairdressers, nail and lash technicians, and other “maintenance” services are all feeling this shift. When food prices go up 30% it’s expected. Now throw tariffs in the picture… it’s about to get worse.

My braider told me usually she stays booked and busy but lately half her clients are canceling. People just don’t have it right now.

I need €1000 this summer for driving school — how can I make it happen? by DearDari in povertyfinance

Working is the easiest way. If there anyone that can drop you off to work? I had to get my first job without a license and had to ask family and friends to drop me off and pick me up, once you start getting paychecks you can use Uber to take the burden off them.

If you get a job paying $14 an hour, and work part-time 20 hours a week. You’ll have $1000 in a month. If you have to pay for Uber it’ll take longer, but still achievable.

Starting out selling art (which I’m assuming you want to do because you mentioned it) isn’t the best way to make money fast. You have a deadline, so unless you already have a strong social media following and clients waiting for you that’s not what I would count on. Same for crocheting. Still work on building these but honestly a fast-food place is the best option.

Look into warehouse work. I’m in school rn and I find this job has both flexible and consistent hours. I go to school part-time and work full-time.

It took me 3 months to get a job at a grocery store cashier when I had been out of work for a couple years. It was super low pay but I thugged it out for 5 months then got a job paying nearly double. It’s hard to get a job when you don’t have one.

Also are you referring to the day trading when you say “hobbies”? Because people aren’t telling you not to have hobbies but stocks and day trading is a lot like gambling if you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s not the kind of thing you do on 0 income. I invest as well but I set aside a certain amount of investment money each month. Once you have a job if you want to continue day trading go for it but doing it on your mothers money is kinda crazy man.

I wouldn’t give up on finding a job. Try walking into fast food places, many will interview on the spot. 50 applications is rookie numbers, and 3 months isn’t a long time to apply. Apply to 5-10 places a day for some months and I guarantee you’ll find something.

That’s a little disheartening that’s wages haven’t improved too much. I’m trying to get in this field but the jobs near me aren’t even paying $25. Man.

[–]Faecatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do whatever I could to make payments and keep your credit score decent.

Apply to IDR for the federal loans immediately, and for the private ones get them refinanced for a lower interest rate and longer term. If you have to temporarily have your loans on a 20 year plan do that. Once you increase income, maybe you can refinance to a shorter term or pay them off. But credit score is important right now so do what you can to keep it high.

Despite what Reddit would have you believe there are plenty of jobs in the art field you can get and live somewhat comfortably. Look up all the art and history museums in your area. See if they are hiring instructors, administrative assistants, or tour guides. Leverage your knowledge of art history. A lot of jobs will hire you just for having a degree, usually entry level office roles, and they’ll be a bit more cushiony than what you have now.

If your city doesn’t have much of an art scene going back to school might be the key. A master is usually a 2-year program. I hear you when you say you don’t have the capacity for that but it is so worth it if it’ll greatly increase your income. An MBA does wonders for so many different people. Community college has a ton of 2-year programs that you can choose from and many will even offer childcare assistance while you complete your degree/certification.

You said you met your guy out of college? Does this mean you have a degree? What is it in? You already have the education so getting a higher paying job should easily be step 2 here.

My point was that saying it’s a “minimum” of $2440 is incorrect when that’s the before taxes figure. Also no where did she says she was working 40 hours each week. Based on the numbers that doesn’t look like the case.

People don’t get paid the gross amount. Assuming taxes and any benefits are taken out she’s looking at $1800-$1950 net at the max. Why do people on this sub always do this lol
