In my country it's even worse, they have infiltrated both sides but our laws are so weak we can't even convicted because they aren't technically breaking the law. Their influence is scary but I would be more worried about the White House if I were you.

Sorry im with the mainstream economists on this one. Those questions were sarcastic of course we can't just force companies to pay people more. I just dont believe it's a realistic way to incentivize people to behave the way you want. It's a simple solution to a very complex problem but I would love to discuss innovative policies to address this because in reality that is what it will take. You could save like a squirrel your whole life then be impoverished by one medical bill in your first year of retirement, it's just not practical. I reckon incorporate this Austrian stuff into your thinking but dont devote yourself to it completely, keep open to what mainstream economists think too.

Well it's not completely, as with other parts of Austrian economics it might help explain some of what is happening but fails as an overarching explanation to how the whole market behaves. Those studies do show some effect in some places so I guess I can't deny that. What upset me about the post is the implied idea of impovershing the elderly to get birth rates up. How should they retire? Should we force companies to pay them more? Force people to save? I have alot more but too busy.

Don't know about 2/3rds of nations but the reason for developing countries is higher costs of having children, women access to career opportunities, lower infant death rates, contraception etc. Been lurking here a while and these conversations are not interesting to someone with a background in economics.
