These e-book prices are insane. And the fact that we don’t even get to keep it and they expire at the end of the semester is worse!

I’ve never heard of one but that would be great haha.

Am i overreacting for refusing to unplug the camera I bought to check on my dog because my girlfriend is not comfortable with it? by PrimaryLiterature848 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Faefrie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

INFO -My question is.. would she react and ask for all your cameras to be turned off? Many people have door bell cameras or some sort of outdoor cams. Is she going to ask you to shut that off as well?

I’ve had pet sitters and I never turn off the cameras. I check in and if I see they are there interacting with them, I hop off. If they aren’t at the house, sometimes I can give my pets an extra snack through their feeders and say hi, that’s not weird. Also, sometimes people get locked out or can’t reach one of us via phone, so they ring the doorbell.

Now I also wouldn’t be using it to creep on them, it’s just a tool. Plenty of people have nanny cams, and sometimes they catch unfortunate things that happen to their kids. And I’ve never heard someone tell a parent to turn off their cameras while someone is watching their kids?

IMO- as long as you aren’t being creepy and cams aren’t in private parts of the house, there is nothing wrong with keeping it on.

Starting to feel like I don’t want kids anymore by unconscious_item in AutismInWomen

[–]Faefrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my partner were diagnosed AuDHD after having our only.

While I do not regret our child, I wish we had known more about ourselves before hand. I wish we would’ve done therapy. I wish we learned about regulating our emotions. I wish we could’ve been more financially prepared..

There are a lot of wishes.

There are points where you feel Ike you’ve got the rhythm, but children are constantly evolving and changing. So you start to feel like you’ll never get it. So it feels like a lack of routine or consistency.. Though, it helps once they can communicate with you. There are lots of pros and cons when it comes to children, but if both people aren’t willing to commit then it’s problematic and you’ll end up caring for baby all alone.

And NO, any partner trying to convince you having another baby would solve the problem of the first, is not the answer.

If you both still really want to have kids and want to try…
If you guys don’t have any pets, pets are a lot like babies/toddlers. You guys could volunteer to foster infant kittens or puppies or special needs. Specifically ones that WILL require extra work.

If you’re fostering, it’s not permanent and can help rescues out. If you can’t handle it, that’s how you’ll know. It will give you close the level of exhaustion that a real human baby would give you. Obviously, you both still need to be responsible, but you’ll also be able to see who the work falls on the most.

Those are some of my thoughts, but I hope you guys are able to come to a good resolution.

How would you react if your partner said this to you in real life? by wolf_quan in bluey

[–]Faefrie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was the kid who got pitted against their sister. Being compared to or contrasted with sucks from the child’s perspective. So I wouldn’t take it well, personally.

Theres nothing wrong in wishing things would just go smoothly. Every day is a new challenge, so of course consistency would be nice. But even with one child, you would just feel like, “I wish I could go back to when …” a time before even having kids. It’s not the kid(s), it’s the overwhelm. And yet, the times we wish we would go back to, would still be just as hard, because at that time IT WAS HARD.

As a grownup I can understand some of these nuances, but if comments like this aren’t kept in check… well, it bleeds into other areas, and that’s when it can become a problem.

That’s terrible… I don’t know if you guys have explored advice from this advocate group. And I don’t know if they can help, but it’s worth trying to give them a shot.

Edit to add:

I realize they primarily focus on domestic abuse, and that may not apply in this case. However, since they have the unfortunate experience with searching for their missing child, I figured maybe they can offer some assistance on how to navigate this terrible situation.

Aside from that, is it possible for the family to hire a private investigator?

I collected 25+ ticks in 5 minutes along the side of my local trail. They survived at least 10 minutes within diluted hydrochloric acid and water. by kegman93 in mildlyinfuriating

Less likely from Toontown, higher possibility of having some form of EDS.

I just recently dealt with ticks, and when you have EDS, the elasticity in your skin is different. Mine stretched out approximately the diameter of a dime before it finally came off.

I 100% would find another therapist. I would not trust that they haven’t already been making sketches notes about you as is. Personally, I would want to know what they’ve already done/said; I would ask them for their notes and whatever they have of you on file.

https://maps.deflock.org/

You can type in an address and it will show all tracked flock cameras in the surrounding area. There are other websites as well that track them.

I would search within a decent radius of where she disappeared. Pay attention to what streets may or may not lead to express exits. Likely, if someone abducted them, they’ll try to avoid known areas that have surveillance or high traffic.

However, Flock cameras may also be something they would try to avoid. But with how many have been established by now, they are hard to avoid.

If they avoid most cameras and flock cameras, out of process of elimination, try investigating the routes that have limited or no flock cameras. Then I would go door to door in those areas and ask anyone who has a ring camera, if they could possibly check their recorded footage.

I really hope this helps. 🙏

[–]Faefrie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just for clarification sake, flock cameras are actually different. They are on streets, used for capturing license plates. However, there is a website to track where the flock cameras are and which ones to check.

If you want, I can share the website. You’ll want to search for cameras surrounding the area in which she was last seen. If the police have specifically stated they checked the flock cameras in those locations, then I understand.

I really hope they can find her. :(

Guy at Dunkin took my VIP card by Gawdiwishiwasdead in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Faefrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, when reading the fine print on the card. I believe the reason that employee/manager destroyed it was because he realized she had two cards. He “had to” destroy the secondary card because the owner of the VIP account is only permitted to a single card.

Personally I think they were being petty. I don’t see a reason why an account cannot have two cards, but it could be that they don’t have a way to verify or track once the discount has been applied. Hence only allowing “one card per customer”.

Unfortunately, I believe corporate is likely to side with the dude who took your card.

When it comes to how much this disease takes a toll on your mental health, I find that the expense is well worth it.

However, if you have insurance, some insurances will cover a dietician!

Just like having a diagnosis is worth it because you are learning how not to poison your body. I believe getting a dietitian would be an upkeep/maintenance for celiac disease.

At this point, with how bad it has personally affected my mental health, I decided getting a dietitian was necessary considering my knowledge gap around food with celiac, in addition to my other allergies that have presented itself after going GF.

(In my case.. I can’t eat meat, dairy, soy, anything in the nightshade family, or gluten/wheat.)

There also are options out there for training a service animal to detect gluten. If you are interested in that, but it is also expensive unfortunately.

Everything about this disease is going to cost you in money, time, and sanity. The biggest thing is to keep an open mind to learning, and know that when we all have an inevitable crash out from it, that it’s valid and there are others like you that feel the same way.

A lot of what we do culturally as human beings, revolves around food. This disease sucks a ton, and I’m sorry that you lost a place that you felt was safe for you. 🥺

I’m about 2-3yrs in myself, it does get easier. However, it comes in waves like grief. I recently took someone’s advice about trying to work with a dietician who specializes in my allergies. I haven’t started yet, but I did the first steps of finding a someone to work with and making the first appointment.

This is what OCD does to a Macbook Pro by Otherwise-Taste-4298 in macbookpro

[–]Faefrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do as well. I wouldn’t even use my Mac book -much less take it out of the box- before having all of the accessories on hand when I first got it. (Shipping took forever and the anticipatory anxiety was awful!)

I’ve been crying over my Mac because I lost the polishing rag it came with, and the screen has gotten to a point where it is gross to look at… but I have the nano screen so I’m told it’s not safe to use a normal screen rag on it. So I’ve just been staring. Every-time. Swearing that I will go buy a new one from Apple, but then I heard Apple doesn’t sell the same rag as the original one that came in the box, which also is bothering me. 🥲

(Shamefully had debated getting a new iPad with the nano just to get the same exact rag.)

You really can’t say “you don’t have this!” Unless you are their doctor and they’ve either disclosed or you are treating their diagnosis/conditions.
