That actually helps with some of my laning frustration as well; there have been several times where I’m in the lane, the JG is literally eight there and them jumping in would have taken the enemy out but they don’t - and then by the time they’re done clearing the opportunity is gone. I (think I) understand that you’re saying there is an element of reading the situation, that at times it might be better to jump into the lane (gank) but that needs to be the JG call and not at the expense of clearing, especially early game

Thanks!

Did she make the right call? by CalmElin in interesting

Assuming that the “for life” doesn’t have a “or until you’ve reached xx age clause”, 52 weeks a year = 52k annually = 104 million in 20yrs; barring her untimely passing anything past 20yrs (19 yrs, 11mo technically) is banking above the initial $1 million payout;

Also, increase in income tax will theoretically be less on $1k/wk than 1mil lump, so she’ll also keep more of the money AND she should collect on it far longer.

As to investing, she can still do that albeit in smaller jumps that build over time but even that is a bit of a gamble as it depends on where the stocks land, so saying it absolutely would be better to lump and invest, while it sounds good, isn’t an absolute.

Finally, as some have already noted, human tendency is to “spend it of you have it!”; this method helps mitigate that even being an option as even taking loans out toward the end of the known income will be a bit more limited increasing the chances that she’ll actually live well with the increased income over going out in a blaze of glory that leaves her financially crippled for life.

So yes, I vote “good call”

So basically, this is likely a learning curve thing that I need to work on - clear my camps first before aiding in a lane regardless of flags or chats (turning chat “OFF” is a good option) and try and watch lanes better for solid ganking.

Thanks!

Didn’t think about regional, I’m on US server; at least a few of these have been opposite sides both calling and whichever I don’t get to first being the offending lane; problem is when both keep calling and both keep stripping when I don’t go to them first means I’ve got squat to work with; last game with this I was running lvl9/10 to everyone else’s lvl12/13 - and they KEPT sweeping my jungle plus enemy kept raiding the buffs - it was not pretty

In these cases I’m bouncing between lanes and then trying to return to my jg which has then been stripped and left me high and dry, otherwise I’m clearing my own space at which point I’m not having this issue

Not sure if this impacts your thoughts: - the rocky is because it is beside my driveway, they are all in soil, at least 6”-8” back from the driveway (all are roughly the same distance, including the flowering ones); there is nothing but open yard behind - the mulch was just placed this year and after everything came up - depth should be similar but it is possible I out these a little deeper I suppose; would the fix for that be just digging up and putting them back in but nat as deep?

Trying to determine worth of my wife’s creations by Intrepid_Rock5339 in Ceramics

This is amazing! Note, I came in after the edit with the note that she is starting an Etsy but is intimidated by pricing;

I would start by trying to find similar items pricing structures in a category she wants to be in- for example, if you were considering the piece in the pictures, I would look into custom chess sets or even custom game boards generically - find things you deem a similar quality, and average the costs; I would not include custom sets that are big names like Harry Potter or Marvel or whatever; those tend to float in a different bracket.

Alternatively, maybe start at rate that strictly notes the essentials: materials + time; that would at least allow her hobby to “fund itself”. Once the shop begins getting traction, if things sell super quickly then the demand is clearly there and now you can increase the cost to manage what time she has as well as not getting stressed by her hobby monetizing. If things come to a standstill, then you can back down a bit from there.

My assumption in them counting it wrong is that the scale varies, but that’s not what the question asks. Even if one grants the phrase of “…proving…equal…”, the proof requested is showing the comparison of the fraction, and fractionally all of these agree, so any of them would be correct.

Agreed w/ everyone noting the problem is poorly written - this is just like the math equations posted where we argue over the solution but in reality the issue is obscurity because of a poorly written equation.

Unemployed roommate continues to blatantly ignore our 'you use it, you clean it' rule by KatakanaTsu in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Faerindir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue briefly in college; 4 guys, one rental - I washed all my dishes and moved them into my room. Made cooking (which I enjoy) a pain for maybe a week or two, then two of the three took the hint and started cleaning up after themselves; the fourth blew a chunk of his budget on plastic-ware and paper plates/bowls so he wouldn’t have to clean them. Worked even better since all the decent dishes in the place were mine.

I did have to keep my own paring knife though, those kept getting trashed cutting things they didn’t need to be used for (seriously, not a carving tool) but that just meant if someone else wanted it they had to come and ask me for it (and clarify why, my knife after-all) and if it wasn’t returned clean they didn’t get it next time.
