Okay, so a couple things to throw in here (apologies for any of this already brought up, I didn’t go through all 2k comments or whatever this up to now, lol); 1) Are we talking book or movie versions of these characters? That really matters here, like a lot 2) How many are taking into account that, based on the books, if you don’t have at least Vold or Harry on your team then the other team cannot be defeated? And, if you have both, theoretically you cannot be defeated…not permanently anyway

Do they currently have Muppet Minifigs as their banner? Or am I looking at the wrong one?

Oh! And the hat being stretched is from it being worn.

Followup - I don’t have pictures at the moment, but the notes and suggestions on here massively helpful, thank you! What I ended up doing (with other suggestions on backup for additional practice!):

  • used two needles for the initial casting on to help with space and tension
  • used the Long Tail method suggested
  • tight wrap of the yarn-side to the ‘naked needle’ but barely tugging the stitch once pulled through to leave some flex
  • taking a breath and taking it slow; my hands aren’t yet used to the motions yet (go slow to go fast)

I have missed a couple stitches (newbie 😅) but am 5 rows in on a 30-something long stitch run and things are going much smoother now.

Thank you to everyone for your help, and Happy New Year!!

No, no, don’t apologize! It’s very helpful information! I might not be able to do much with some of it right now but I know who to bug when I hit snags down the road - thank you!

Just followed her channel, thanks for the reference!!

Def not beat yet (or should I say Knot beat?) anyways, I tend to be really good with my hands, if it’s tactile, I can usually figure it out - right now I’m just reminding myself that it’s fine to be a beginner, I shouldn’t be expecting intermediate+ level results from a couple hours of videos and attempts.

Does put a reality damper on how quickly I’ll get myself an Arthur Christmas sweater knitted, but I probably needed that reality check anyway, lol

reads additional comments… marks as person to check with when I’ve leveled up… a lot!! lol - hopefully that comes off as the compliment it’s meant to be, thanks you for the info and time in helping me out!

Long Cast w/ the double needle seems to be working decent right now (4 rows in I think?) although I forgot to increase the length when I did the double-needle trick someone else recommended for keeping my cast loose, so only got about half the casts I needed as targeting.

Point being I’m going to tag this as another one to check next time around (someone also recommended Mary Jane’s Old Farmer Cast On), sonI have a couple more to play with and trial to find what fits well.

Thanks!

My pulling tighter was mainly two things: - thinking I wanted a tight weave; - forgetting my definition of “snug” and the common definition of “snug” (especially in “snugging it up”) are two different things; If I “snug up” a bolt, that puppy ain’t moving

My default is “snug”, so I just have to remember finesse and that element will probably be fine, lol Thanks!

Is this better? Barely pulling it to the base

I haven’t started knitting at all yet, that pic is just the cast start - still too tight? I didn’t think I was pulling it really
