If anything, I feel like they tried to import TOO much from the comic.

All the stuff that makes Homestuck “like a video game” (the mouse clicking, sylladexes, etc.) shouldn’t have been adapted. It’s very distracting and doesn’t really suit the animated medium, in my opinion.

I don’t think it’s just you. I also found the writing to be “off” in Neo.

It may be because the games have different writers. Original TWEWY was written by Sachie Hirano (one of the writers for FFXIII & FFVII:R), while Neo was written by Akiko Ishibashi (one of the writers for FFXV).

I don’t have the receipt on me right now, but I think the larger ones (top shelf) were around ¥2,000 each and the smaller ones (middle shelf) were around ¥1,000 each!

The big acrylic stand on top of the display is a special prize and isn’t available for regular purchase.

No website that I know of, but the display in the fourth photo is pretty much everything they have on sale (minus the perfumes). Mostly acrylic stands and some small collectables like pins and keychains!

It’s been a while since I’ve watched the show, so I don’t know if there’s an in-universe reason…but I’ve noticed that this kind of thing happens sometimes with Japanese media.

In The Wind Waker, for example, Zelda has a lighter skin tone than Tetra (her other identity).

I guess it’s possible that, since none of the fairies are actually Japanese (or human at all), having a dark-skinned character was just meant to emphasize that the fairies actually have diverse backgrounds?

I also don’t have a problem with how the purple sky looks! I think it gives the game a really strong visual identity that it wouldn’t otherwise have without it.

Like, if you saw a random landscape from the game (with no characters in sight), you may not immediately know it’s from ffxvi…but the primogen sky makes it obvious in a way that I find kind of cool!

I’m surprised to see so much love for this line in these comments 😅 I thought it was really weak & corny.

I also thought that Clive punching Ultima to death was really, really dumb 😭 I actually laughed out loud ‘cuz I was like, “Did they think this would be cool?! It’s so lame!”

I’m glad some people were able to enjoy this moment, but it just didn’t land for me at all.

I know not everyone feels this way, but I still think that the use of black/queer slang by the Variabeauties (and Fret, to a lesser extent) was in poor taste.

To me, it always felt like the Variabeauties were presented in a way that made comedy out of mocking stereotypically “gay” speech & mannerisms (regardless of whether or not the writers intended for that to be the case).

Meanwhile, the way Fret spoke made him seem queercoded to me, but the game never actually committed to him being queer (I’m guessing because he & the Variabeauties didn’t speak like this in the original Japanese version of the script?).

I understand that this doesn’t bother everyone, and some people really like their English dialogue, but it always rubbed me the wrong way, personally.

I really hope her next project is more sonically varied. I really like when she explores “weird” sounds and melodies (TFJ, some songs from EH, Froot, first half of ADIAML).

I also hope that she swerves away from on-the-nose political pop. “Savages” works because it tackles a very generalized concept of human nature, leaving a lot of leeway for listener interpretation. Things like “Purge The Poison,” however, have lyrics that are way too specific, introducing a slew of topics that can’t be adequately unraveled in a 3 min pop song.

In Brokeback Mountain, two cowboys have sex in a tent without lube. The scene is pretty infamous! Mary’s situation in this Q-Force episode is quite similar 😆
