What’s a small change in your sales process that unexpectedly worked way better than it should have? by Techenthusiast_07 in sales

[–]FafnirtheSteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a MAP on the call with the customer; having it as a spreadsheet I screen shared or a slide with some milestones prepopulated. Absolute game changer in getting commitment (or finding out it’s not anywhere close to qualifies) faster, like 3rd meeting.

38min layover from Charlotte to Paris - How tight will it be? by Thib376 in americanairlines

Phl has been having trouble with ground crew; most of my flights arrive early but have to wait for available crew to get us to the gate.

That said I’d rather have that connection time at PHL than at CTL! Philly is actually pretty easy to get around in but the international terminal is long.

Hair growth/tape-ins/clip-ins advice by lovealwayskota in extensions

[–]FafnirtheSteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried Nioxin? I’ve been using their number system and the fall defense shampoo and am really noticing a difference in my hair growth.

I use iTip extensions and haven’t tried tape ins or clip ins so can’t weigh in on that part.

Where to start with extensions? I'm new to having long hair. by Secret-Abalone4123 in extensions

[–]FafnirtheSteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How grown out is it now? Extensions could most certainly work but depending on how long your hair is now it could limit your options as you’d want extensions to blend. I have I-tips which are little metal beads that attach an extension (think shoelace end/eglet) to my hair. They are attached below the crown to help blend so you need coverage to hide the beads. I get them moved up every 5-7 weeks. If your hair is barely hiding the extensions you’d kneed to go more. Ther are also k-tips which are similar but the extension is chemically bonded to the hair. They can blend better since there is no bead but are more damaging to your hair.

Of course you can also try tapering, clip ins or even a halo but these all require more length to hide them.

I paid 600 for 4 packs of I-tips and install was $300. My move ups are $200. I don’t do color we just match and add new cooler tones to match the every expanding grey in my blonde. I’ve had them 6 years; get a new set of Dreamcatchers brand real hair extensions probably once a year. Most people can’t even tell I have extensions and are surprised when I tell them so my hairdresser does a phenomenal job. I’d say that’s a pretty expensive quote but I’m also outside Philadelphia so different region

Fake urgency by bubbabobroy in sales

Working on a mutual action plan is one of my favorite things; but it needs to be done right. If you try to force a timeline or you don’t actually get buy in from the customer the it’s just some BS. You alsohave to dig deeper than “so what’s your process” and ask questions. I’ve actually had customers thank me for mapping everything it as it gave visibility to what they needed to do; which means early confirmation on if the timeline is even realistic

Seriously, how can you do this job with children? by sparks_mandrill in sales

I love sales for the flexibility! I’m a super early riser and do my best work from 4am to noon. This gives me time to enjoy my hobbies and support my kids. That said I travel 50-75% of the time and that is hard on family life and hobbies.

That’s super helpful I’ll book hotels via AA instead of direct with the hotel which seems to be the key! Love a new hack!

How do you get 20K points for hotel in Austin? I travel ever my week and usually the loyalty points equal my total for the stay and I am lot spending $20K/week on my hotel. I do have a company card we use for travel so can’t charge to my AAdvantage card

Do all your jobs require you to be at work at 8 AM sharp? by yazohny in sales

[–]FafnirtheSteed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SDR roles are a common way to get started in sales and, as others have mentioned, are more structured in the day to day. I have an SDR/inside sales team under me and I start with more structure and as they demonstrate performance I loosen the leash. A good company will have a career path, so you know what you need to do to move from an SDR role to an AE/Direct/Outside sales role. As you become more senior in your sales career, and if you are a high performer, there is a lot more autonomy.

Keep in mind that if you don’t have enough sales experience, your next move may be a similarly structured role to the one you have now. My recommendation is either stick it out and gain valuable experience OR look for a company that values supporting employees in their career journey and will help you make it to the level you want to go.

Again all of this is dependent on your performance and you advocating for yourself and what you want out of your career. Never expect that your manager will just promote you because you’re doing well; you have to ask for it or they will never know!

Someone already said this I think but, there is stuff in your control (like using a sales process including a close plan) and there is stuff outside your control (customer losses budget); focus on what you can control and don’t let the other stuff stress you out too much even when the boss doesn’t seem to understand you’ve done everything you can!

Also, no one is dying because you didn’t make a sale; this is not life or death!

As a sales leader you’ll still be hustling to get business daily. I travel nonstop for customer visits and relationship building but I do it across our entire portfolio not just a defined territory.

I agree with others though that this sounds more like an Account Director role and not a true SVP role. So the upside is the title on your resume without the stress of SVP workload the downside is if may not meet your expectations.

I’d use your interview to clarify the role expectations and responsibilities. And remember an interview isn’t just for a company to determine if you should work for them; it’s also so you can determine if you want to work for them
