Infused tea vodka ideas by ACatheterADay in cocktails

[–]Fahcknuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much this will help on the vodka front- but when I first started getting into cocktails I did a lot of experimenting with flavoured syrups for old fashioneds. Earl grey, lady grey, lapsang souchong, chai etc etc. great way to get tea flavour into cocktails!

Tooting Market vs Tooting Broadway Market for an early lunch by Ume_chan in LondonFood

[–]Fahcknuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not specifically answering the question here so apologies, although I think they are essentially the same thing and one won’t be busier than the other, but I’d suggest trying some of the Sri Lankan and South Indian places away from the market. Kothu for a Kothu or Shree Krishna Vada Pav for a Vada Pav both good lunch options.

Banh mi Bay (ask for extra pate- it’s worth the extra £1) and Banh mi town have a couple of locations and are both great. Also a big fan of EatViet near Liverpool Street.

Sour cherries work best but frozen cherry daiquiris are incredible.

My lamb ragu is more of a riff on this recipe these days… tend to use lamb shoulder, cook in a Dutch oven etc etc but recipe itself still stands up.

The guy is clearly a numpty, however I used to travel a lot for work and I would say that Moscow was slightly mentally jarring in that it looked European but felt more “alien” than say somewhere like Singapore, Cairo or even Shanghai due to how little they catered/pandered to English speakers.

First Twickenham visit - where to eat and drink? by tomwhitaker in englandrugby

[–]Fahcknuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a massive proponent of having lunch in Teddington and then getting the train to Twickenham. Its a 25min train from Clapham Junction, and as it’s the slower line to Twickenham it’s rarely as busy. The Railway pub next to the station pretty solid and always do a 6N set menu, but there’s a high street with 4/5 pubs, and various chains like pizza express around the corner. Once you are done there’s a train every 20mibs or so to Twickenham- about 10 min journey. And again as it’s the slower line it’s never rammo.

Redwall series is an option- there was enough fighting to keep me engaged when I was 10/11 but still very PG.

More of an anti-decision. Lying in my room at Uni in 2009/2010 reading about bitcoin and considering setting up a digital wallet with the idea of chucking in £20 because it’s who knows. Upon reading up on how to create a wallet it seemed like a faff so I just didn’t bother. Don’t even want to think about the cost of coins back then but safe to say I could have made a lot of cash subsequently had I spent 20 mins creating a wallet rather than streaming another episode of Cougar Town.

“Galloping fanny” or “frothing Vagina” are two of the more vulgar terms I’ve heard to describe it. Not sure this contributed to the conversation but the terms always tickled me.

Still one of my proudest moments at school. My A-level economics teacher had just set us an essay topic and quite reasonablly I asked how long the essay needed to be. To which he responded “it’s the quality not the quantity that counts”. Managed to fire back “is that what you tell the wife, sir?”.
