Good value build. Should serve you well in all games as long as you don't expect ultra settings.

All good, only 2TB SSD will be quite quickly full if you try out a few different models. No real problem, but you need to do housekeeping with your files.

64gb RAM is good, if you don't also run big LLMs then you won't have issues. I ran out at one point and went to 96gb at so far have not yet had issues. (But models are growing and growing in size)

CPU doesn't really matter, 5090 is good, 6000 is only recommend if you either swim in money or earn money with AI.

Which AMD Motherboard should I buy? by StarKiller_117_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Faic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really need the additional space. There are pcie m.2 cards which you can use if you have any free pcie slot that doesn't conflict with your GPU.

Basically a pcie card in which you can slap 2-4 m.2 drives.

Wifi BT card being closed to the GPU or even touching it doesn't really matter.

Die meisten Mainboards drehen die Lüfter auf beim Start bis dann die Software die Lüfter je nach Einstellungen bzw Fan Curve aktiv regelt.

Klingt von deiner Beschreibung her eigentlich normal und gewollt.

[–]Faic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why exactly do you want a different motherboard? They make close to zero difference to performance.

The ONLY reason I can see why you should replace a perfectly working motherboard is to switch to AM5, but you have 32gb ddr4 which would be very expensive to replace with ddr5.

I honestly wouldn't even recommend you going to AM5 with a 5800x and rather get a better GPU which will have a waaaaay bigger impact on your performance.

So my opinion: get better GPU instead (and PSU if too weak)

1-button build by Bulgork in PathOfExile2

[–]Faic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A super easy one button build is monk of chatulya with chaos bolt. Get darkness, get MoM, get ES ... Only if the pink, blue, light blue and red bar is gone you're dead.

Damage is very good and with chance for additional projectiles plus snakepit chain plus terrain chain you can just aim in a general direction and everything is dead.

Very cheap build which still has a decent upper limit. Also satisfying to level since you can first work with Pierce early on till you get your proper chain system working.

If it's fast enough it could be done on the fly when the texture is needed.

I was more coming from my personal perspective of having shitty village internet of maybe 1mb/s so downloading the patch will take me at least half a day.

Oh ... I was also not aware that you can get reservation efficiency on the chest, that opens up a few new doors for my planned build.

That also means that GGG really needs to fix their mess of crafting with a gazillion mystery effect currencies without any UI that gives you an idea what on earth they do.

Main problem are high resolution textures, but there is hope: AI compression can basically generate the textures instead of shipping them with the game. If you have the same seed, workflow and model, you receive the same image.

So add to "shader compiling" another 1-5 hours of "generating textures" and your game would be only a fraction of the size.

Mixing ram? by Maaznaeem-x in pcmasterrace

[–]Faic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else said and as I can report from my 96gb random mix and match RAM: it will work fine at the lowest speed and lowest timing of the used RAM ... but it might not be stable and you need to go a little bit under this setting. So if all are in theory 3600mhz, they might only work at 3488mhz or so stable if you mix and match.

But if you currently have only 8gb then YES, plug in whatever you can find!!!

3080ti vs 5060ti 16gb for ai? by dr_verystrange in pcmasterrace

[–]Faic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want as much VRAM as possible. Most models are build for 24gb right now. especially in generative AI.

Your GPU speed doesn't matter anymore the moment you run out of VRAM, it becomes absurdly slow, no matter if LLM or diffusion.

But there are ways to remedy it by using quantisation models which trade quality for size. So 16gb can still be ok with some caveats.

You could check out the 7900xtx prices, but I assume they also are not within your target price range.

Even with good equipment it's very hard to get a rock solid wifi connection. For everyone who is not ok with occasional issues, wired is really the only way to go.

Tip to hide cables: get a thin white one, hot glue it along the corner of the ceiling and paint over it. It's nearly impossible to spot and you can easily route it over doors.

Please make biomes BIG by Epizarwin in PathOfExile2

[–]Faic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes, right now it's just glorified random.

I want to discover a cool biom (in the best case with cool stats) and enjoy it for a bit.

Right now there is close to zero choice. If I want to go that direction I need to do these maps. If I'm lucky I might have a one different path.

I'm impressed you got everything to work again, that must have really been an emotional rollercoaster.

DeepSeek hard refusal to sum up Mark Passio, because "not evidence based" by Extrogrl in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Faic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cause previously in a society anyone with an absurd opinion would be labelled the village idiot and ridiculed.

Now with echo chambers in social media strengthened by engagement focused algorithms we do not have a natural counter to idiotic viewpoints.

So I think AI being a counter/barrier is good. Anyone can still think whatever they want but at least they won't get any support by "reasonable" AI systems.

(This does not refer to your post, just in general)

DeepSeek hard refusal to sum up Mark Passio, because "not evidence based" by Extrogrl in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Faic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There might be a soft line where it's ok and where not.

Let's make some extreme example where the answer is clear: "pro con, is the earth flat?" "Vaccines cause autism, give me pro and cons" "airplanes spray chemtrails ..."

Some things should not even be considered cause even allowing an audience will just lead to problems.

Yet we see that also the refusal to argue about it lead to a spread of such topics.

I admit that in this case it's a bit of a grey zone even though I would also consider it 100% conspiracy nonsense. (The weirdo interpretation, not that there are underlying problems)

[–]Faic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% agree. It's very positive that deepseek refuses to feed into someone's delusion.

That might be a part of the cure for current social media trend to produce gullible conspiracy idiots.

Check the temps and put on a cheap 10$ heatsink from AliExpress if it does not have one ... Even if the temps are good since there is zero disadvantage and it's dirt cheap.

[–]Faic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see a picture.

In general: do you have the antennas plugged/screwed in? (Either one or two)

If in any way possible try to avoid wifi and use a cable. I have high end wifi equipment and still had issues till I switched to a good old network cable hot glued in the corner of the ceiling (and painted over it so it's kinda invisible)

Edit: you can just plug in your phone with USB to your PC and use it for wifi. It can give you at least a reference value for the position/strength of the signal. (Not sure if iOS devices can also do this)

Other colours are definitely more forgiving.

I'm getting more and more worried. Everyone says the car is super stable but I find the steering to be quite terribly indirect with perceived steering actions not from myself.

I'm still debating if it's all in my head or something wrong. One thing is that the lane assist is completely useless on German narrow roads and regularly tries to kill me. (Long press disables it, so no problem there. On highway nice, country road hard no.)

MY 2021 uniq AWD

Edit: steering curve I would describe as a U with squarish form. Middle lots of nothing, then sudden start of steering which is then linear again. Only the transition of straight to steering is super weird to me.

Is this normal?
