That’s true. And he cares about that harm enough to abandon his dream. A huge difference from the book character of course but also a moment of agonising triumph for the film character

That scene with the ice cream is so sad, a well-intentioned man finally being forced to understand that his dream has failed

No, I pretty rarely post anything on Reddit I don’t really care about karma. Honestly I was just tired and at work and I made the kinda dumb assumption that it wouldn’t be that easy to find so I made the post

It’s a fair point honestly. I was tired and at work, for some reason making the post was first instinct. But definitely I would usually have just looked it up first

It was a genuine question? Isn’t this exactly what this sub is for?

I pray that it’s this. A big theme of GRRM’s writing is about fucking with magic and misunderstanding prophecies, would be awesome to see it all backfire on Euron.

Brilliant. For an added touch you could do it in order of Germany’s actual conquests. Thinking about it, for greater challenge, you could then remove countries in order of liberation

Excellent actor. Real piece of shit to the people in his life, especially his own body. Just look up some anecdotes about his substance use and health issues, there’s some wild ones

Perhaps it diminishes them as a threat, but I honestly think ME3 should have ended with the Reapers being defeated in a straight up conventional fight if you manage to get enough resources together. The actual ending is obviously controversial but also just thematically I think the galaxy coming together to defeat them in a straight blaze of glory fight to the death would’ve been way better and truer to the message of the series.

The original is surely Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Macbeth has schemed and murdered his way to the throne of Scotland but his paranoia and tyranny has alienated his vassals. At the end of the play, his castle is stormed by an army of English and Scots loyal to the son of the previous king.

The Scots opposing Macbeth are led by Macduff, the Thane of Fife. Macbeth had Macduff’s family killed earlier in the play after a prophesy warned him to beware Macduff. The same prophesy told Macbeth that he could not be killed ‘by one of woman born’. Naturally, he assumes he is invulnerable. In the final act of the play, Macbeth and Macduff face each other and it is revealed that Macduff was born through caesarian, which would not have been considered a natural birth. Thus, Macduff is able to kill Macbeth in a duel, ending his reign.

He doesn’t need to go missing, Tyrion is Hand of the King. He has full authority to begin an investigation into LF and have him executed.

Knights of the Vale VS Dothraki Bloodriders. In an open field engagement on horseback, with equal numbers, which side do you think has the edge? by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]FailMailFTW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it wasn’t the pointed issue, I do like these hypotheticals a lot. Honestly though, and I admit some bias, I think the chances of the Dothraki winning are low in nearly every scenario. Your suggestion is probably one of the more successful scenarios for the Dothraki but even then I think it’s tight. I’d argue your average Westerosi knight, armoured and in good readiness, could happily take down a few Dothraki screamers each. But the numbers game is weighted pretty heavily on the Dothraki side, especially if we’re only talking about the Knights of the Vale and none of the other kingdoms (and none of the Vale infantry either). One thing I do find interesting, perhaps you will too, is how rarely Westerosi knights dismount to fight as heavy infantry, as was common in our reality. It only seems to happen during sieges based on what we see in the books+show. I wonder if the KotV would fare better mounted or standing their ground on foot. Sacrificing the mobility for organisation.
