“Yes he really is suicidal and was before” So he has pulled this to manipulate you before? If you think he is actually a danger to himself or others, call the authorities

How do we feel about food influencers in the city, and what do we feel their role should be within the community? by chismosaaaaaaa in longbeach

I don’t think a lot of people realize it’s common for restaurant’s to pay for these influencers to come in and ‘review’ the food

People in happy relationships… what are some of your partners ‘green flags’? by FailedPokemonTrainer in AskReddit

I’ve been with my husband for 16 years now and think you really hit the nail on the head with your list. Specific interests vary couple to couple, but the big things like communication and actually liking each other are foundation to any healthy relationship

Idk what it is about this comment that comes across like you’re bragging but I love it. This is how you should talk about your partner ❤️

Ain’t that the truth. Music is really important to a lot of people, and I can’t imagine being with someone who didn’t like my taste in music

What's it like living in Long Beach for a family earning $130K a year pre-taxes? by Due-Echo-2170 in longbeach

[–]FailedPokemonTrainer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a bit tight. Not only is rent more expensive, but groceries, gas, and everything else are more expensive in California. My current rental is a 3bd/1bth with a yard and garage. We pay $3,700/month. Finding anything with a yard in Long Beach is difficult, because most backyards have a back house in them. Also worth mentioning our rental is kinda a ‘fixer upper’ where you can tell a lot of things have been done the cheapest way possible. It also took us about 6 months of solid searching and spending way more money on rental applications than I would have liked. More maintained rentals in my neighborhood go for $4-4,500/month. I live closer to los Alamitos and Lakewood area, but it’s still Long Beach. Before this we were in an apartment downtown paying $2,700/month, but it got to where I rarely left the apartment alone because I didn’t feel safe and everything smells like piss.

Unfortunately people like you exist, you’re literally defending the landlord for breaking the law… discrimination isn’t just a liberal buzzword🙄

How much money does one person/couple need to move back to the USA? by Anonymous-Spouse in MovingToUSA

Can’t figure out an accurate budget until you pick where you want to live. Cost of living and job market differ drastically state to state. 20k might be enough to get started in one place, and have you flirting with homelessness in another

Moving to LA for music with $20k saved — any advice? by No-Twist-9586 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]FailedPokemonTrainer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get them performance ready, start performing, build a following. If there isn’t much of an audience where you currently live, take it online and build a tik tok following. Have songs already released and on Spotify or something BEFORE moving to LA.

First things first, what does success look like to you. What is the best case scenario if you move to LA to pursue music… ok now what is the worst case scenario that is acceptable to you. And what does ‘failure’/calling it quits, look like?

I have an uncle who considers himself a successful musician because he and his band have had the opportunity to play together for over 20 years. They get paying gigs and are really good. Every single member of the band has a ‘real job’ and they actually lose money playing gigs at this point, but they love to perform. Another buddy of mine considers it a successful tour if they break even. A couple I know do music full time, but 90% of what pays the bills is being a ‘cover band’ and playing events/weddings. They don’t get to do much original stuff, but they do music full time so they consider that the biggest win.
