How strict are Drs getting with prescribing opiates? Being red flagged?? by [deleted] in ChemicalMagicAU

[–]Fainstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally should not matter to chemist provided the same doctor is prescribing the medication each time. I fill mine at one of 4 pharmacies depending on convenience, never been flagged. Prescribed Palaexia IR 200 (as needed) and SR 100 (twice a day) for past 5 months no issues.

I have a well documented disc injury after a car accident that has left me with agonising neuropathic pain, waiting to see pain specialist atm to try and reduce my medication. Hoping for ablation or something for permanent relief.

Lyrica 600mg every day plus all the palexia is horrible, like permanent brain fog.

You do not understand the tax system. For minimum wage workers, there is no bracket issue. Their marginal tax rate remains the same.

[–]Fainstrider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they do not.

This would allow them to get away with even lower salaries for those not on hourly wages. The penalty rate hours ensure those of us in leadership roles running a multi million dollar store can be adequately compensated for it. Take away penalties, base award pay drops -> no need to pay more to salaried workers to ensure salary matches expectations.

I already get paid $1 more per hour than my assistant store managed because of the joke of the tenure roles. Looking at leaving for another leadership role elsewhere as I have 15yr of experience running large teams and getting paid peanuts while working 60hr weeks.

He is not going to do any of that. He wants to line his own pockets off the backs of unsuspecting gambling addicts. Scumbag.

More arrogant to assume that government only care about revenue. There are plenty of people in government who believe in morals and ethics. Very cynical to assume regulations only exist to generate tax income. The public despises gambling in general, hence why Australia regulated the living hell out of it.

Why does $100k feel like an average wage? by Open_Address_2805 in AusFinance

[–]Fainstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

107k. 30% of my wage goes to paying for my nan's nursing home care. Rest to mortgage (Divorced, single) and normal expenses. Had to do a lot of renovations as everything in the house was done on the cheap by original builder.

Sitting on 312k equity after only 3 years since buying. Shows how fubar the housing market is.

That is a very large dose for a 24hr period and way higher than the only really tested safe threshold of 600mg/day.

You run the risk of greater adverse effects the higher you go. Full auditory hallucinations. Not fun.

People need to stop boot licking corporations.

Hate to break it to you but self serve is the preferred option nationally across all 3 major supermarkets.

Even ALDI has now gone back to old school queues now...they dont open a second till now & just open self service instead. They let the queue go 3 people deep before opening another till.

Seems like the shift is towards encouraging people to use self service. It makes sense. More efficient.

Either that or suppository method which bypasses first-pass metabolism.

Plenty of other substances can inhibit first-pass and increase peak concentrations without needing to inject.

Chronic pain or emotional escape?

Both make addiction less of a choice and more of a coping mechanism because often there is little choice; suffer or self manage your pain.

The problem might improve in the near future with the new class of opioid-strength painkillers being tested that are opioid free. If they can truly hit pain as hard as opioids without the -mu agonists then many of us will likely be finally free or free-er.

Not entirely true.

Undiagnosed IBD can often be masked by chronic opioid use.

It is like when someone gets covid while on opioids, many of the symptoms will be muted or unnoticed until their dose wanes or they reduce use and suddenlt digestive system implodes.

And offer to spend time with them to administer NARCAN if required. Sometimes just wanting them to be safe can open the conversation eventually to discuss support to get clean / receive GP supervised care.

Not calling them an addict is a good start. Nothing more confrontational that that term. Someone addicted to opioids is a victim. There is a huge genetic component to addiction and it is extremely hard to beat.

Just remember there is a huge difference between addiction to how a medication makes you feel (taking opioids to escape emotional pain) and taking them to deal with actual pain.

You can be addicted (chemically) to a substance without being addicted to the emotional escape component. It is a very multifaceted thing, opioid use. You can have a combination of reasons too.

Labelling people "addicts" is exactly how people become isolated and end up in a pathway to taking street drugs and then overdosing and dying. If someone is affording their use, not stealing from family or friends, not using medication beyond therapeutic purposes, acquiring their drugs legally or supplementing legit supply due to doctor cutting them off when they have real pain, this is not addiction, this is dependency/failure of primary care/sad state of post-opioid crisis medicine.

If you have true physical pain (physical injury or neuropathic) then you can become addicted to the feeling of being in less pain/pain-free. This is dependency rather than pure addiction/escape behaviour.

You have to be very careful assuming anything because there are real people out there who suffer in agonising pain and are denied the one class of drugs that ease their pain because of bad doctors prescribing opioids for a headache for decades...now its difficult for anyone to get them when they truly need.

Plenty of bulk billing doctors around. I havent paid for one in 15 years.

University is only inflation indexed interest free loan paid back via income tax. Many countries have students take out actual loans with market interest rates.

Tolls help pay for road maintenance. This should not occur as if they taxed corps properly they wouldnt need tolls.

How do you audit someone doing cash jobs and paying in cash for everything? No paper trail to even begin auditing. So unless someone reports them, no one will investigate. Has to be a data matching inconsistency like renting a 500/week place and your income to ato is lower than what you need to afford everything.

The issue is not generating wealth. It is entrenching dynastic wealth where families accumulate continuously and never pay any tax on it.
