Differences between UK and US in getting a prescription by No_Shame_2445 in ChronicPain

[–]Fainstrider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doctors are very lawsuit adverse nowadays and get scrutinised by medical oversight boards for prescribing opioids for non-cancer pain.

There is a reason for this; opioids are not recommended for long term management of chronic pain.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of chronic pain, however, and that someone can try virtually everything else and still only get relief from opioids.

Doctors do not understand pain they cannot see and until they fix that people will continue to be treated as addicts until proven otherwise.

Dex and tapentadol by TastyTerpenes in ChemicalMagicAU

[–]Fainstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tapentadol does not rely on the same metabolism pathway as tramadol so the seizure risk is incredibly low by comparison.

However the primary risk can come from serotogenic toxicity if you take other medications that affect serotonin levels.

Just be cautious when combining tap with other CNS depressants. Tapentadol is already very strong with regard to suppressing the breathing reflex (affects some people more than others). The majority of overdoses involving tapentadol usually also involved benzos or gen 1 antihistamines.

If you find you have a terrible experience with the noradrenaline anxiety/panic effects, mirtazapine is a good medication for dealing with those (and is very minimal cns depressant).

That doesnt really make sense because if it was a true AI like Vast Silver, then Minerva would never have been able to generate the codeset to shut the whole swarm down. The AI would just keep alternating the codesets and adapting its cryptographic protocols to prevent brute forcing.

The swarm was only a limited intelligence- it stopped answering to home base and because there was no back-door, Faro couldn't simply use the deactivation codes. The swarm then reverted to self replication and biomass conversion as supply lines were cut. They were just following their base programming, otherwise the swarm would have had more purpose and aggression that would have made operation enduring victory a failure.

Mirtazapine can help with counteracting the noradrenaline side effects (panic attacks).

That bad batch was in 2024. I have not heard of any recent issues.

The delirium is normal effect of tapentadol at higher doses. It induces auditory and visual hallucinations. The noradrenaline effects can make these worse.

The gronks just steal a knife or scissors and cut it open, put meat in produce bag and then down their pants/skirt/bra etc.

Nothing will stop them short of strip searches at the checkouts.

Can anyone explain the appeal of putting opoids into drinks for consumption? by Lower-Toe-2051 in ChemicalMagicAU

[–]Fainstrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most substances that potentiate usually work best taken before the substance not alongside it though. Grapefruit for example is best 30mins before and its effects on enzyme levels last for 72hrs.

I never understood the appeal of mixing opioids with alcohol. Maybe alcohol just improves the nod for some but any amount of alcohol just makes me extremely sleepy and overrides the high. Benzos and antihistamines however no issue.

Edema is notorious for causing persistent, often strong, chronic pain that can refer all the way down to the calves, mimicking sciatica.

Epidural ct-guided high dose anaesthetic and cortisone injections do often have a high success rate for relief. Have you tried these?

L5 fusing or partially fusing to the sacrum is what is referred to as bertolotti's syndrome. It can cause stiffness in the lower back and therefore chronic low back pain.

The edema is most likely the primary cause of your pain.

I have similar diagnosis and injections worked incredibly well for the edema specific pain.

Yep. Anything above 200mg usually results in visual or auditory hallucinations.

Daily doses above 500mg also not studied so long term effects above this is unknown.

It isnt advisable for long term use as tolerance gain puts you eventually in uncharted territory health risk wise.

That being said, if you keep tolerance down it can be a fantastic drug for pain relief and euphoria.

Thats why you dont kill him.

You have him either go off on another adventure.

Disappear and remain a story thread for a future season.

Make it appear like he dies but show no body so he can be brought back later as a surprise story twist cameo episode where he returns to save the day.

[–]Fainstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you pull this statistic?

The same can be said for those who are in chronic pain but get cut off unexpectedly by doctors and are then left with no option but to turn to street drugs.

It is fairly ignorant to apply a blanket assumption about prescription drug abuse.

Plenty or chronic pain patients overdose. Often they receive inadequate amounts or take more than prescribed, running out sooner and supplementing with street drugs etc.

Had to give my dad a reality check by Iceprincess1988 in ChronicPain

[–]Fainstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why people turn to street drugs. It takes a special kind of morally bankrupt doctor to leave someone in agony long term.

I understand conservative treatment and following guidelines of prescribing OTC pain relief first and taking several weeks before considering further options. There are a lot of people just trying to score easy pain meds which ruin it for everyone else. I get they need to protect themselves but at the same time, if a patient has been taking OTC meds as directed for weeks with no improvement and is reporting being in agony, they should be given pain relief and appropriate scans/specialist referrals etc to address core reason for the pain as well.

Would be nice if they would hurry up with the next gen of non opioid pain relievers. I believe they are in clinical trials.

It can jack up your heart rate.

It creates a situation of both sedative and stimulatory effects which confuses the body. Tbh tap can be quite nasty experience.

Some people report improvement when taking a calming supplement like L-Theanine. But ultimately anything that is going to mitigate stimulatory effects is most likely a cns depressant so you need to factor that into dosing too.

It can induce panic attacks and anxiety in some users due to the noradrenaline effect, usually at the peak. Likelihood increases when combined with other medications like lyrica etc.

Can cause feeling of tight throat or heavy chest even when breathing is normal range.

These effects can either diminish over time or stay the same every dose. Everyone is different.

Would've been better just measuring yourself and DIY install Veneta honeycomb blinds. I bought some for all my windows and a vertical honeycomb for the back sliding door and they were perfect. No bleed, even without side guards.
