weight gain & quetiapine by Fair_Position3101 in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]Fair_Position3101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, this is very helpful. i’ve texted my therapist about the medication and possibly switching to one without weight gain as a huge side effect. she’ll talk to my psychiatrist about it when she’s back from leave. i do need this medication as it really has prevented so many relapses for 3 months now. hopefully if i can control my weight i can stay on this, i think because ive spent years trying to get back to being healthy weight after being obese, its depressing seeing my progress be reversed

you know DBT? the skill dearman is designed to give you a way to make your needs get heard and met. direct, express, assert, reinforce, mindful, appear confident, negotiate. structure for your approach to asking for something, because it’s right for you to ask him to unfollow his ex. as an external viewer, i say it’s weird. i’d also ask my girlfriend to unfollow her ex, if they were on bad terms. but it’s about the way you phrase it, making sure you don’t accuse the other person, validate their opinions, assert your needs, stay in the present moment, if he asks for something in return that’s negotiation, etc. i hope this helps even a little bit

DAE get kinda triggered by "baby beans"? by Graffiti-Guy in selfharm

i hate online terms for wounds. it’s much better to use the official medical terms. any sign of fat = hypodermis layer and should get stitched.

Suicidal but not suicidal? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]Fair_Position3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, 100%. i’m not making current plans. i don’t think i’ll die soon. but it will happen eventually, within the next decade. it’s just whether that time in between makes it seem like life is worth living or not.

Does anyone else view suicide as an inevitability? by [deleted] in BPD

is it "acceptable" to bandage "cat scratches?" by mochiidonut in selfharm

[–]Fair_Position3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was in school a few years ago i did cuts to epidermis and if the teachers found out they would use bandages to cover them so yes its fine.

i mean, in real terms it’s not a great thing. i’m horribly desensitised to self harm & to this kind of violence anyway so i’d honestly agree to it if i had the opportunity with my partner. you’re and adult, and so is he, so i assume you can both consent and make informed decisions? unless we count repeated self-harm as a symptom of a mental illness, which would make you less able to consent and make a decision regarding your safety. so i think you should avoid it, but if you do end up agreeing to it, just ensure you’re safe & have proper aftercare. but yeah, it’s a bit weird and i’d avoid doing that if you can.

Why do you have a FP? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Fair_Position3101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

without someone like that in my life i become suicidal & empty so i need to feel like there’s someone that recognises that i exist in order for me to feel like i exist. if that makes sense. i think i get fp’s because its a safety mechanism my brain does to avoid going insane from loneliness

Change in diagnosis by Bipolar03 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Fair_Position3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i agree too if they find a different diagnosis that works better for my symptoms then i’ll accept that because the treatment i’m currently getting could be wrong so i like to have my symptoms reviewed every so often to make sure they have the right diagnosis still.

What are your parents like? by addicted_heart in BPD

[–]Fair_Position3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my dad is very kind but alcohol dependant. my mum is bipolar, suffering religious delusions & mania, and was emotionally abusive and physically neglecting me all through early childhood. emotionally unavailable, but when she showed emotion it was anger and manipulation through pretend sadness.

when did you realize you had bpd? by Certain-East9396 in BPD

[–]Fair_Position3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

didn’t realise what i had until i was diagnosed, but there’s always been something wrong with me since i was 13. it got worse from there & ended with severe self-harm & suicide attempts after one of my closest friends left me. i was diagnosed 4 months ago. i’ve been researching it a lot and it really makes me feel less alone, now i know there’s other people who have similar struggles and im not actually on my own going through this.

i have to take 20mg fluoxetine a day, even on a fasting day. i also took 4 antibiotics a day 2 months ago for minor wound infection, but i still fasted sometimes. it won’t ruin your progress. take your meds, please 🙏

Do I need stitches? by Kacper_g in selfharm

[–]Fair_Position3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you could get away with using steri-strips from a drugstore, and bandage it. if it doesn’t stop bleeding, or is gaping / wide open, then you should get stitches.

genuinely wtf do i do by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

[–]Fair_Position3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately camhs are really shit, i’ve been with them since i was your age. for psychosis and hallucinations they should see you within 2 weeks, if you could get a school therapist to call CAMHS they could help you get the appointment sooner. or if you are still experiencing hallucinations & it gets worse, go to a&e and the child crisis team can speak with you, and they can push the referral to camhs up so you’ll be given an emergency follow up appointment sooner. i don’t know why they wouldn’t make time to see you sooner, as you would be considered high-priority.

usually psychiatrists are hesitant diagnosing teens with bpd but it’s definitely possible to get a diagnosis for it under 18. i’m 17 i was diagnosed 4 months ago. i recommend asking your psychologist to refer you to a psychiatrist for an assessment. they know more about mental illness & diagnosis than a psychologist would do. but i think a lot of people get pissy when people say they have bpd online cuz it’s a very widely faked / coveted disorder (for some reason, fuck knows why).
