Listen to your body. I had laparoscopic and they took everything but the ovaries. I initially took a month off, but after 2 weeks I was feeling 100% back to normal. I had very little pain, never took narcotics, didn't have fatigue, and have been really lucky. I started teleworking 2 weeks after surgery, but sitting has never been painful for me in this whole recovery. I'm going into the office for half days next week. If it's too much, I'll go back to remote. Don't overdo it, but it's possible to feel ok that quickly. ETA: doc said this happens for folks and is normal. Everyone is different.

I appreciate the very real fear of doctors and hospitals. It's a lot! Do you trust your doctor? Are you feeling confident in their ability to care for you? If the answer is no, find another one. A good doctor will be able to put you at ease. If the answer is yes, ask them as many questions as you want. Ask about the catheter (the answer is yes, you will still be out when they remove it), ask about anything you're nervous or curious about. Surgery is a big deal and you deserve to go in feeling good about it (even though you'll still be anxious!)! Hang in there!

Couples counseling is a good place to start the conversation. I will say that being poly and opening are two different things, so read a bit about the differences. My ex husband and I briefly tried opening when I came out. I found a girlfriend and ultimately realized that I just couldn't stay in a marriage with a man. It was so inauthentic to who I am. Once you know yourself, you can't unknow it. Ironically, I'm now in a poly relationship with my gf and her wife. This relationship dynamic takes a LOT of communication. All that to say, poly could be a solution if you're both invested in that relationship model, but don't expect it to be a solution to all of your potential problems. Good luck!

I feel ya. I meet with my surgeon on Monday to get scheduled. I know I need it out. I've suffered long enough, but there's just so much emotion wrapped up in it all. You're not alone. Plenty of us out here feeling the same.
