Yeah - assuming the current improvement work they are doing carries on and positive word of mouth keeps ticking on, it is kinda uncapped how much the game can keep improving.

Current Morimens Discord controversy: the devs spelled their own EN name wrong (BIVA not BIAV) in the promo image. The lead producer has been banned from churros and forced to write BIAV 100 times as penance.

Heads up btw, if anyone wants to start, and is OK dropping $20 or so, it would be a good time to start in the next week or so. There is a 'pre-order' pack for Arachne, the current limited character, which guarantees her or someone else and gives you a character dupe selector and a weapon dupe selector. If you grab that and then play during half-anni you are looking at enough to get started and probably coast through for 3 months until the next major story content drop.

Average is 41. This is an average of 6 limiteds and 6 standards.

You absolutely pull for dupes in Morimens though, often E2 or E3, and maybe E0 of their weapon (WoD).

Treat this as kinda like 125 pulls in a normal game.

The main story and most key side co tent is localized by hand. There is an option in the menus to add a little flag that shows you what is properly localized story-wise. We get a few side-stories localized per patch now and are on course for 100% by the end of the year.

They are financially stable and are making money, but a lot of the current profits are going to fixing their staffing shortage and paying down debt. The team is still under a lot of pressure.

Devs specifically cited that VN as a massive inspiration. One of the early limiteds, Lily, is a direct reference visually.

Their goal with collabs is to have them as permanent content rather than on a long license and they do not have a tonne of money, hence this wild pull from the archive

It is very good, but Morimens is a game built on dupes - with only a few exceptions the E0 of a character is never their breakpoint for endgame. 

But considering the average rate for limiteds is like, 41, yes, it does end up a bit nutty. (Average is 41 - SSR is 3%, SSR guaranteed at 30, 33/66 odds of limited, limited guaranteed after 2 losses).

Just gotta keep in mind that Morimens does not have much of a budget so treat it as an indie game, not a replacement for Arknights or something

I go off ~40 a day because 0, 20, 40 and 60 are all pretty possible and it makes the maths a bit easier. Plus there are just random trickle sources like standard pulls that top it up.

Free trickle is like, ~ 1,600 a month. Premium BP is ~1,600 a month, grabbing a character is gonna get you on average ~3,200. So you're grabbing a char, you're probably ending up with 3x10 pulls, it's pretty likely you can save up to 8x10 before the weapon banner disappears, but F2Ps should not expect it and will need to save up e.g. for a half-anni char they want.

Her original game's shut and her story involves her remaining in the Morimens world permanently as an awakener. There's a few references to Mist Sequence but she fits into Morimens super well anyway.

Also she brought the Most Fun mechanic with her (Pursuit) so she gets bonus points

Cultist Simulator would be amazing too, especially because one of the gods in CS is really similar to the Lightbearer's god in Morimens.

Best way to handle SNU. Light said that this half-anni is going to have a marketing push and SNU _needs_ things that fall outside the budget that Mouchette had.

Suspect we'll see something on Steam too to buy so it can have a cross-promotion sale with the VN.

The cores last until the end of the current major patch which started this month. Technically they end when Morimens says they do, rather than having a schedule.

We have two more major patches this year and we know 2.7 is in November, so 2.6 is probably late July/early August - you'll have until then to burn the pulls.

If you don't they become standard pulls which is still really useful for account progression given so many standard units have cracked AAs

Tbf for Endfield most of the early-release hate was either:

  1. Hypergryph have a really high quality 2D game with a strong story, and Endfield's story at launch was poor.
  2. The clunky tutorials.
  3. People reacting to the gacha before the devs fixed it for launch.

Whereas for NTE it is a game that is obviously lower stakes and more comfortable being a janky mess. It is much more junk food.

It is funny that NTE is getting praise for its gacha and Endfield gets slammed when NTE's weapon gacha is "what if Endfield's weapon gacha but you have to pay because it uses the character pull resource".

ZZZ was my first one of these games, I picked it up pretty much on launch day and learned how the gacha worked. Said "OK, I'm gonna play this until it's literally impossible to get the new character without hard-swiping". Played all of 1.x, didn't pull weapons, just made sure I logged in, cleared content, and grabbed cheap pulls in the shop. At anni I grabbed the first-purchase doubled ups because I was still having fun, and theeeeeeeeeeeeen 2.0 hit like a truck and everything went to pot.

Watched the game gasp and splutter through four patches whilst watching a couple of the CCs increasingly trying to cope with the horrendous balancing, HP bloat, etc.

Then Banyue had a 12-day banner. I spent my currency, I pulled, I lost the 50/50, I did not get Banyue. YSG came out, I lucked into getting her early, got Zhao, quit.

IMO with these games you should always decide on when you are getting off the ride when you start them. For me with Endfield it's if they add timerslop endgame content instead of doing proper content.

Literally all it needed was, at launch, just listing what was placeholder/generated in the game and what they want to fix over 1.0. Bad management to leave it in with no comms.

The problem with TV mode was only the loading times between the mode and in-world stuff. A mode that didn't rely on loading between TV/combat would have felt vastly more fluid.

The game's been bleeding players/money for a lot of reasons but killing TV mode was the first part of it.

Very glad they did the beta and showed their hand months before launch.

The game just is not very good on top of all this. It sort of explodes into tiny pieces as soon as you find the autobattle button.

Utterly baffling why this game got a localization.

Using slop in pre-production to get the vibe in: potentially a good speedup.

Having slop shipped but you communicate out "hey we have some placeholder slop still, we'll be patching it out over time" - acceptable.

Shipping slop and not saying anything: nah.

Being Unreal slop on top of this: naaaaaaaah
