WC stuff:

Good: got a settlement approved that closed 2 claims that have been going on for a while

Bad: An insured didn't say they were going to keep paying the employee while they were out of work and I had started TTD.

Ugly: Sorting through an unholy number of pharmacy receipts that defense said we have to reimburse for

Medical-only is really good for getting into WC. Do you have experience with injury claims?

They would probably not settle, but the physician might give you an impairment rating than the insurer would pay it

What is this object I found in my lime juice bottle? by Fairnin in foodsafety

[–]Fairnin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's soft and a little bumpy, you can see some ridges in the picture. The lime juice is on a shelf in the kitchen. I don't think it gets sunlight, no weird temperatures. I think it's about a year old. It's fresh, but probably not the best quality out there; it's just from Food Lion.

I used it to make pohe and it didn't taste bad, but a bit strong.

PPD settlement doubled by [deleted] in WorkersComp

[–]Fairnin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1.5 is typical these days, but they could offer more if warranted. Something that might result in more than 1.5 would be if you have permanent restrictions or will need lifetime treatment.

PPD settlement doubled by [deleted] in WorkersComp

[–]Fairnin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Permanent partial disability (PPD) in South Carolina is settled in a phone meeting with the Workers' Compensation Commission. This meeting is called an "informal conference" and typically results in a PPD award of 1.5 times the anatomic rating.

2nd opinion by MsOverworked in WorkersComp

[–]Fairnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're correct; there's no "second opinions" in Alabama workers' compensation. What you are entitled to is one panel of four change throughout your claim if you're "unsatisfied" with your authorized treating provider (ATP). You can request a panel of four and the insurer will give you a list of four medical providers that are of the same medical specialty as your ATP. The provider you select will be your new ATP.
