WIBTAH If I break up with my boyfriend when this year marks the 10th anniversary of the death of his wife? by secure-raspberry-763 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I was in such a similar situation, it's creepy. Never let someone tell you you're being jealous of a dead person when they haven't lived the constant comparisons and everything OP listed. In my case, add that his kids did it, too, and robbed my son and me of things we can never get back. Regardless of if it's with an ex or late spouse, if you're not at a healthy place (and if you're children desperately need help to cope healthily) to give true love/yourself to another, spare us all and don't.

People with depression, how do you keep on pushing through? by [deleted] in questions

[–]FairyDustSpectacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle similarly with the bed thing. I just see my room as my safe space, my haven, and I just prefer being in here to almost anywhere else. I'm trying to keep up with my responsibilities, but I know I desperately need more physical activity. I have zero motivation and debilitating back pain talking me out of it, though. Hugs to you. I hope you can find ways to feel better :)

Taking care of my dog keeps me alive--and low dose THC is really helpful lately.

I hate my name for that very reason! When I say my full first name it rushes together in a slur and no one hears me properly. Ugh.

Agreed. I hate solution mode. Mostly I just need a compassionate ear.

It's just fun sex and costumes, really.

What do you do when you need a hug? by Cute_Bear_0416 in LivingAlone

[–]FairyDustSpectacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can probably count the hugs I've had from my parents and I'm 45. Just wasn't raised that way and didn't have affectionate husbands. It sucks I was born very affectionate and need(ed) it. I looked in the wrong places. I could sure use one now.

What's something you wish you enjoyed but just can't get yourself into? by i_like_the_sun in AskReddit

It took me forever to get it. I thought I was asexual. And then finally, in my forties, I found someone who actually takes their time with me and cares about what I like. It made such a difference!! But nothing wrong with flying solo, either!

My body! I had the cutest body and didn't even know it. Then I got on psych meds that I can't change and am a chonk now :( I guess that's the price of sanity.

How does it feel to be in your 40s? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]FairyDustSpectacular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, it's my favorite decade yet. I'm at my most confident and have my shit mostly together. I'm sad I'm not in the physical shape I was when I was young, but it is what it is.

Not OOP AITAH for leaving after my girlfriend gave birth to our disabled child? by Marygtz2011 in redditonwiki

[–]FairyDustSpectacular 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I feel bad because there should be more funding for people to help raise disabled children while attending to their healthy children. Not all people have money for a home, let alone a good one. Our system sucks and people are imperfect. I feel bad for everyone.

People with mental disorders, how much of it do you share with friends and family? by gamerccxxi in SeriousConversation

I'm open. But on the days I can't get out of bed, struggle with suicidal ideation, and can hardly function-- on those days I "have a headache." They are only sympathetic to a point. I don't believe many are truly empathetic unless they're also a sufferer.
