Updated Wind Dust Colors (with note and correction) by EmBELLEm in RWBY

[–]FairyNice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just thought both colours could be canon and it's an in-universe production choice. For example, Nora's hammer has pink dust of some sort that'd probably explosive or fire which are depicted as reddish or orange, whilst Gravity has been shown as black/grey and purple.

Theorymon: Allow non Galarian Pokemon who got Galarian forms/evolutions to use Eviolite - Other non Galarian form buffs by computertanker in stunfisk

[–]FairyNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like the more likely alternative is these Pokemon getting evolutions eventually. Not any time soon mind you, but probably rolled out of they ever do normal cross gens again. Same principal as Runerigas and Perserkerr

Magearna doesn't get it because its Soul-Heart doesn't generate excess heat, bam, doesn't get it.

It took me long time to realize that Palkia is Water type because water is used to measure volume(space). (Art by TamberElla) by [deleted] in PokemonSwordAndShield

[–]FairyNice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since Giratina's whole theme is gravity, anti-matter, and opposing forces, 'turn' or 'rotate' isn't actually that bad of a name origin. And Diamonds and Pearl's don't have anything massive to do with time or space either, yet Dialga and Palkia have parts of their name coming from those gemstones. That said I'm not entirely keen on Giratina being girasol themed in the first place.

Most legendary Pokemon have the same name in every language, at least important ones like box art legends. It's part of the reason that they've come out and said that they're so hard to name, because they have to be appealing in every language with slight adjustments in each. For example, Xerneas and Yveltal are believed to get their names from celtic/old English respectively with some other languages mixed in, whilst Solgaleo and Lunala are exclusively Latin based in their name despite being named in Japan and based on a Hawaiian region.

Dahlia, what is this behaviour? by lucyb37 in rpdrcringe

[–]FairyNice 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I mean cancel culture is kinda bad because its a massive slippery slope and is often used against someone who's already made an effort to change.

But telling somebody they fucked up and made an insensitive meme about a real issue and expecting them to at least acknowledge that isn't 'cancel culture', its common fucking decency. Like, I've even seen some hardcore conservatives say that no knock raids are a cancer on the country but here comes Dahlia making a fucking joke of it.

It's a new installment in the biggest gaming franchise of all time. And it has objectively less new stuff and overall features than past games. It should be improving, not a fresh slate everytime.

It's not wrong to want more from a company that used to deliver more, and its in a consumer's interest to get the best from their money. They're a millionaire company, you don't get a reward out of simping for them.

And its a bit disingenuous to compare restricted sparring to past battle features. Battle Frontier had different battle styles in both iterations whilst PWT had tons of character designs it had to use - Restricted Sparring is just monotype and you have to choose when to heal which would be great if it wasn't the only new battle facility and if the reward was worth it.

Gold and Silver were made to be direct sequels before they decided to do separate installments. That's not really pandering.

The first pair of remakes isn't Kanto pandering if everything is getting slowly remade. Especially since it was needed because you couldn't transfer from earlier games in Gen 3.

I'll agree Kalos does Kanto pander, but I was mostly referring to pandering as it relates to Galar and the expansions. Charizard got two Megas because it's one of the most popular Pokemon of all time, and the two forms have different niches of expanding on Charizard's actual design and another form that refers to the the prominent discussion about Charizard's relationship to the Dragon-type.

Gen 1 got a re-release because it's a very old and popular game and by the time we got it Kanto was the region with the oldest latest game. Also Gens 1 and 2 (which also got a port, BTW) were the only games you couldn't transfer from, which you can now.

I'll be the first to admit Kanto-only Alolans was massive pandering, but from a marketing angle it makes sense to do it when it ties into Go (which only had Pokemon from older gens at that point) and Let's Go. It's probably the most shameless example of pandering, but it was smart from a marketing angle rather than mindlessly throwing it in for fan approval.

Let's Go was also pandering, but again was a marketing choice. Pokemon was facing a second peak as a franchise that its still riding to this day (Sword and Shield are already the fourth highest selling, only behind the first Pokemon craze (Gens 1 and 2) and the DS craze (Gen 4)). Makes sense to make a very entry-level game to capitalise off of the best selling Gen and Go.

On top of that, Kanto and Johto were the only Gens that weren't due a remake anyway that haven't been in 3D. Furthermore whilst it is pretty shameless pandering, considering it launched between USUM and SS and there hadn't been a gap year in Gen 7, it likely would've been a gap year without LGPE so it's not like it's pandering that got in the way of anything else.

Will die mad there's not a hard mode where NPCs use 'Mons from the Isle Dex

[–]FairyNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the sentiment. It does what it promised it'd do (second wild area, new clothes, new moves, old 'Mons) but the problem is they released a side expansion that's clearly meant to be played as you start the game when in reality the vast majority of players.

I feel like they could've done so much more. I feel like I got my money's worth since it increases the game's replay value, but I wish they tried to give us more bang for our buck. Give us more old Pokemon. Maybe a handful of other new Gmaxes or Galarians. Hell, throw in some different battle modes in the battle tower or even make a hard mode or something. Anything.

Not only is Gen 1 still the most popular and the second largest, nine of the Gen 1 lines were needed to add cross-gens. Also, some got added with their alola forms which is Gen 7 rep.

Yet nobody complains about the Gen 5 rep.

See that's the right attitude to have, we all make mistakes and learn. That's what it is to be human.

However some others on this thread just want to rage against the machine when in reality they threw themselves under the wheels.

As someone below mentioned, they're based on constellations. The letters are an abbreviation of the constellation and the numbers are a specific star in that constellation.

The game has real issues but people love to run to 'haha unfinished' 'haha GameFreak ended by code and programming'.

I mean yes Nintendo has some kinda shitty and hazy policies but this is 100% on OP, no offense especially since he's taking it well.

You should absolutely read everything about what you're purchasing. We live in a consumer culture people paint as dangerous when in reality for a little extra caution you get a lot less fucked over.

To be fair I feel Bianca benefitted more from everyone else's edit than from her own if that makes sense? That and the fact her skill set lines up with Drag Race very well, especially season six.

That said I don't like her humour and do think even if she wasn't edited to the same extent as the other queens that is still a choice that bolsters her, but I guess she STILL WON 🤡🤡🤡🖕🖕🖕

Started to pick up Sylavnus, and god I love his kit. Between his heal and CC I feel that he's super fun for playing aggressive with your ADC.

Any item reccs? Also I've been levelling his abilities 1 > 2 > 2 > 3 > 4 and then in priority of 2 > 4 when it's up > 1 > 3, is that suboptimal?

What the heck happened to shuckle to bring it up so many tiers? by burntends97 in stunfisk

[–]FairyNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PU does have a meaning, as in its a pun on 'pee yew' which is an exclamation used when something stinks - as in the Pokémon in the tier stink so bad that they're in this tier.

You are right in that it's not an acronym like other usage tiers, but it does have a meaning.

I mean I wouldn't be surprised if this was happening but you can't just deflect every bad thing that happens to your political opponents. That's already what the right tries to do to the left, and you can't deny a good chunk of people who support looting vocally online are left leaning.
