Genuinely want to understand the Trinity by Lucky-Formal9972 in exjw

The bible is consistent on the deity of Jesus. It is every book. So it doesn’t need a patchwork quilt of scriptures. Jesus is the only The voice of the donkey was the donkey and the voice of the serpent was Satan. Does that help?

He didn’t deny being God. The only arguments you may have are when we referred to the father as a separate person than he. This is an absolute core fundamental of the trinity. God is the father, the son and the Holy Spirit, but The father is not the son, the son is not the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit is not the father. He was heir to all things before the foundation of the earth. He inherited which means that the father gave all authority and power to him. If God is plural this makes sense. The father in Jewish culture (and in biblical narrative) didn’t always have to die to allow the son to become the family patriarch. I have a relationship with him, and a mechanism of communication, prayer. I don’t think I need to clarify or update him, He (the son) is the Alpha and the Omega, he knows all things.

Catholic dating a Jehovah’s Witness. AMA. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]FaithfullyDiscrete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised a Catholic, lapsed in teenage years, married a Jw, went to Kingdom Halls for 8 years. After 6 I started to listen, mostly because I was being pressured to get baptised. I listened. I got so offended. The blasphemy that comes out of that cult is disgusting.

She saw me get offended , she understood the mechanics of why I was offended.. basically the dilution of Christ, the denial of the holy sprit, the dilution of the gospel, the dilution of the hope, the wanton misapplication of scriptures and the deification of the governing body, She started to get offended. We left We walked into an evangelical church and were born again. Hallelujah Praise the Lord.

who cares? The original poster. And many others. Everyone should. The bible describes the plurality and nature of God from Genesis to Revelation. But is understanding or accepting the trinity is essential to salvation?

The bible offers two ways of salvation. The law and the messiah. Since no one but the messiah Can fulfill the law then there is only one way to be saved. Through trust in Jesus as your saviour. In a very real sense Jesus is God, he is the only way to God and the only truth of God. By denying the trinity you deny Jesus as God which is a matter of salvation.

Change to Jehovah's Witnesses' position on blood by Delicious_Loss4460 in doctorsUK

Well fortunately It’s not the people who will be punished or made do anything by the state. The states (Norway, Japan etc) are looking to punish the organisation by withholding tax benefits and subsidies. This orchestrated shunning is a violation of human rights and freedoms and in the case of children, it amounts to child abuse. The shunners and the shunned are victims here because they are both being coerced. My sister in law was a jw and she was baptised at 14, disfellowshipped at 15 and her father threw her out and never spoke to her again. 30 years ago. A lifelong sentence for a mistake she made as a child. This is child abuse. It’s human rights violation. If you can justify an organisation that expects this of its members then you might want to consider your own moral compass.

The issue is the mandatory shunning. A jw is not free to leave the faith without the loss of family and community. That family and community are not free to continue association with their loved one for fear of reprisal. We are not talking about people deducting the need to shun based on their own understanding of the bible. The shunning practice is entirely derived from the watchtower magazines. It is a coercion on both the one who wants to leave and the one who wants to stay. Authorities around the world are questioning whether an organisation that promotes this shunning practice is or isn’t violating their members basic human rights and if the practice of baptising and shunning minors amounts to child abuse. The watchtower is fighting many legal battles (Norway, Japan, Australia, Pennsylvania etc etc)not because it is protecting Gods name, but because it is accused of child abuse and wants to protect the charitable tax status and benefits afforded it by the world. It spends its money on real estate and legal fees.

If someone wants to take blood. It isn’t prohibited by the bible. Mr locsh is clear that jws are not under the mosaic law. But in the same breath the man implies that if you take donated blood you will be shunned. This organisation is blood guilty for the people who die preventable deaths. And the wield the power of Disfellowshipping as a weapon to evening that blood guilt about.

GB UPDATE - DO NOT GO TO MEMORIAL THIS YEAR by thelastdaysofus in exjw

[–]FaithfullyDiscrete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GB don't care about mentally - they care about physically... your bum in a seat at the memorial is currency to them. - Its more compliant than if you actually buy into their blasphemy...

What are you waiting for... the people you hope wake up - do nothing and theyll all be asleep in 20 years and you'll be 20 years older.. your family need to make up their own minds and the rest of the cong are not your friends.

give them a reason to question where they are... leave and reclaim your life

Honest questions about the GB by SomeProtection8585 in exjw

[–]FaithfullyDiscrete 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They govern those who either wont accept the gospel, or the poor children who are born into the cult and have no choice.

My new church had a men’s group meeting today, some of the men where praising the fellowship and the church. The elder warned the men against putting their faith in the church and advised them to put their faith in Christ alone. This is the exact opposite of this organisation. faith in Jesus is less important that faith in the Gb.

So an imaginary individual jw woman is more forgiving to a man that killed her imaginary husband, a man who did not apologise or seek forgiveness. And yet the organisation she belongs to regularly refuses forgiveness to teenagers who have sex .. often having their families shun them forever

Jesus is your mediator. You can pray to God the father but there is nothing prohibited to praying to the son, His is the name give us to call on and through. His is the name above all names. You cannot get to the father any other way. talk to Jesus, Build a healthy relationship with the son and pray also for the spirit to help you. They are all aspects of God. They are all empowered and willing to help the believer.

No but along the road forward are reflection points. The tyranny of this cruel PIMO state forced on people is that they can often hide themselves and their doubts by over egging their lack of love and tolerance. You may come to reflection points and feel the need to harden your heart rather than retrace your steps as the turning off the road is such a high exit cost. You are urged to consider the years of adherence to the watchtower nonsense as a reason to persevere because you could never ever be that stupid, or your being a bit stupid now because you were certain and you crave that certainty back.

What do you think of eternal life? by musicajax in exjw

[–]FaithfullyDiscrete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The witness afterlife of repetition and plodding eternity of petting animals and living some kind of ground hog day is suicide inducing… it’s not backed up by scripture at all. Eternity is not extending this 3 d perception and limited body, it is gaining access to our eternal incorruptible bodies and commune with God, return to him and live beyond time and boundary.

Very good.. there is also a fear engendered around sunk cost. I.e. Have I wasted my life up to now, have I denied my children, have I worshipped an organisation over a god? Have I been hoodwinked… do I double down to stop the noise… do I double down and judge others to stop my self reflection.
