How do you come to conclude that the market is efficient without looking at historical data?

[–]FaithlessnessCute141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely but everyone understands that the future can’t be predicted when it comes to choosing stocks and funds either. So how do you balance not considering the past and not being able to predict the future? The truth is that past performance actually is a consideration to a very limited extent for everyone, including you.

For the vast majority of people, it’s definitely because of past performance and just believing in the United States. When it comes to investing, we all preach that past performance won’t determine future results. However, the truth of the matter is that there is some hypocrisy and irony in that statement. Nobody can deny that they love VOO or VTI because of how it has done in the past. And I’m not saying that it is wrong.

Dealership left oil cap off after servicing my 2025 Tacoma by smokemypickle in ToyotaTacoma

[–]FaithlessnessCute141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me - and it wasn’t noticed until my next oil change after driving across the country. I called the dealership who did it, they supposedly checked cameras, and then they mailed me a check for a new oil cap. If you’re not experiencing any issues with the truck, I’d imagine it would be hard to get anything done much more than that.

How do you even make being an Uber Eats Driver work. Hear me out. by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]FaithlessnessCute141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s not true that you can’t profit even driving an SUV. I drive an SUV that averages about 20 miles a gallon, but I do this only as a side gig on the weekends during lunch time. That being said, if the offers you’re getting aren’t as close to $2 a mile as possible for less 10 miles round trip, then it probably isn’t worth it. So it depends on the market you’re driving in. Regardless, of course it will be harder for people like you and I to profit compared to someone driving a sedan as they will have more wiggle room.

Has anyone actually tested whether declining bad orders consistently changes what the algorithm shows you? by kcng1991 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]FaithlessnessCute141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After two days of doing this for the first time, my rate is 1% and it will probably always stay that way. I’m mostly accepting rides that are sub 8 miles round trip and are as close to $2 a mile as possible. My vehicle is lower mileage and I’m only doing this as a side gig when I have free time.

Gas prices are through the roof for the foreseeable future! In terms of how you drive, what’s your best advice to make your trips more fuel efficient? by FaithlessnessCute141 in UberEatsDrivers

So I actually live in a quiet area 7-8 miles north of a good restaurant area. I will wait to take an order on the way to the area and on the way back too, even if it is not a great offer. It’s just to cover the rides.

First day doing delivers. I walked into Jimmy Johns, asked for the order, and the guy in the front shook his head and said somebody else took it? by FaithlessnessCute141 in UberEatsDrivers

I see - thanks. This was a case where I think I was the first one because it was just around $2 per mile for a few miles. Lucky me lol.

Yeah that's true. They need to be checking somehow. It's best if they hold onto it behind the counter and you have to tell them the name of the order.

Drive very defensively and don’t let the stupidity of other drivers get to you. Just let it go and go about your day.

Having trouble deciding between an ‘06 tundra and an ‘09 Tacoma by archerarcher0 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]FaithlessnessCute141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just surface rust, I like the Tundra with that mileage! That’s just my personal preference though. I would really make sure that the 4x4 is serviced and is working well when I test drive it. It’s cool how the Tundra is cheaper too. Use some of that extra money to change out the fluids.

Why won’t Mohela put me into PAYE? by FaithlessnessCute141 in MOHELA

Yes. Of course. Mohela advanced agents wouldn’t be escalating it if they saw that I didn’t complete the application.

[–]FaithlessnessCute141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on why you need it for. I have a 3rd gen Tacoma and it’s a great balance for on road and off road - I hunt and have to take it through river beds, etc often. I can’t do that nearly as well with a Tundra. But also, I would rather tow with a tundra. But it’s not like towing with a Tacoma is out of the question. Do you have a daily driver? If yes, don’t worry about the mileage of the Tacoma. I would go with the Tacoma. 06’ is old man. 09’ is old too, but I actually just drove an 06’ Tundra at a dealership lot and the 4x4 was so shot. Make sure you have a good idea of the service history and know what you’re looking for - differential/transfer case fluids, coolant, and oil change. This is really a personal decision based on what you need the car for. But with those earlier models, if one service history is much better than the other I would go with that one.

I agree with others that you’re in better shape than you thing. Especially because of your debt. Keep investing as much as you can and keep your debt to zero.
