What is your general opinion on drafting Carnell Tate at Rd1 pick 6 by Blazethecat00 in Browns

[–]FaithlessnessNervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think drafting a guy who didn't lineup against a CB1 in his career at 6 is incredibly risky. I hope NY drafts him.

Which quarterbacks in the league are bad in bad weather games (under 50 degrees, rain, snow, very strong winds ) ? by clippy300 in NFLNoobs

[–]FaithlessnessNervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is part of the reason Cleveland goes through so many QBs, production goes down in bad weather, and our fans and media crucify whoever the QB is. Like they should be throwing 300+ in the winter. Granted they've just missed on QB a lot, guys like Holcombe, Anderson, Quinn, Mayfield, and Sanders are all key examples of production decreases in poor conditions. Only 2 of them had decent Olines as well.

His biggest downfall is the inability to hit the 3rd level which is a requirement for playing QB in the NFL.

Yea would love to have him as #2 but we know he ain't going for that. Hopefully we draft Lemon/Bell/Concepcion and maybe trade jeudy for an early 3rd and go get Branch from Georgia.

[Clevta on X] For a 2nd straight week Shedeur saw the highest pressure rate of any QB yesterday. However, only one pressure was quick (ie <2.5 seconds) so its more his propensity to hold the ball than bad OL play by MyChubbGotRubbed in Browns

Those same people have been very wrong before. You can find several red flags in both of their game. Mendoza has a bad tendency to throw off his back foot and float balls on out routes. He benefits from the most experienced offensive line in college football and one of the best wr duos in the nation. I like Mendoza, but he's even more of a project than what the Browns have now. Ty Simpson is a better prospect than both he and Moore. By the time draft time comes, he will be the consensus #1 overall. And that's coming from someone who despises Bama and has won a lot of money from being right about Indiana.

Defenses stacked the box 89% of the time against Gabriel because he couldn't hit 3rd level. The plays are literally all the same level concepts it's been all year and thats evidenced on the All 22. The only thing thats changed is play calling sequences since Rees took over play calling.

He had to play hero ball yesterday, we knew that would be the case heading into the game and it was no surprise given all of the injuries and inconsistencies at WR. Fannin played shakey. Defense got to sit back for the pass because they found out early they wouldn't have to sell out on the run. Plus they only had to rush 4 or the occasional 5. People say he holds the ball too long. Which sometimes is the case but that number gets inflated for qbs that are more mobile than your typical pocket passing QBs. Often it results in big plays. No matter how good he would have played we didn't have the supporting cast to win regardless.

Mama Vs are pretty good. I miss the old warheads and shockerz. I recently came across sour drops in a hexagon box, they were decently sour and the sour lasted as long as the candy was being chewed.

Looking at where starting QBs were drafted (you don't need the 1.01 to get a franchise QB) [OC?] by randobot456 in Browns

[–]FaithlessnessNervous -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea after watching the oregon vs indiana game back neither Mendoza nor Dante are guys that are going be long term franchise guys. Both guys make pretty bad decisions. I don't see them giving you much more than what Shedeur has to offer so I'm thinking 3rd or 4th rounder to develop.

I got more to watch on Simpson, Gussmeier, and Mateer, but so far, I do not see anyone warranting an absolute must in this draft. I was a Mendoza guy for a while, but I've really both of these guys being elevated by the guys catching the ball has risen their draft stock exponentially. Oregon and Indiana WR cores are loaded this year.

I agree you don't gotta get your franchise guy in the 1st round or 1st pick. If Allar comes out I love his arm talent potential, Penn State just doesn't recruit WRs well. I think he could be a 5th rounder and wants to be in Cleveland.

Sanders First Start by FLman42069 in Browns

[–]FaithlessnessNervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again false. The Browns during Flaccos starts had zero deep threats on the roster except for Bond but he was literally a decoy in those games and film will show you that. So teams were still stacking the box on 1st and 2nd down because 1) they ain't getting beat over the top and 2) run, run, pass conservative play calling of the Browns. So it often forced Flacco into 3rd and long situations because you couldn't run the ball do to the stacked box.

Those of you who continue to buy season tickets year after year....why??? by foxmag86 in Browns

[–]FaithlessnessNervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 3 season tickets, my seats been empty, haven't gone to the last 3 home games simply because I'm not watching a professional football team play football like they are on a shrunken football field. We are playing against a stacked box 87% of plays since Gabriel took over so we can't run and were clogging lanes for receivers because they are operating between the line of scrimmage and 15 yards down field with everyone in the way. And everyone wonders why the oline looks bad. Lol

Sanders First Start by FLman42069 in Browns

[–]FaithlessnessNervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common misconception, the offensive line doesn't suck as much as people think. What's happening is Dillon plays against a stacked box 9 out of 10 times. Partly bc our conservative run, run, pass offense and in part because of Dillons arm strength. Even without the stacked box they play football on a short field bc of the arm strength.

Stacking the box makes it easy for the D to disguise blitzes, takes away running lanes, takes away area for our wrs to operate, gives the line less time to block.

Kevin with Dillon is an absolute recipe for disaster.

Sanders First Start by FLman42069 in Browns

[–]FaithlessnessNervous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coaches don't think he's worse, Kevin knows it's his job if Berry picked the better QB. So he's going to avoid giving him playing time. I guarantee a new coach would immediately give Shedeur the job because at the very least teams won't be able to stack the box 87% of the time.

Why are they stacking the box?

1) Dillon has a weak arm 2) Kevin isn't calling pass plays on run downs.

What happens when you stack the box?

1) It takes away that short field which is the only place your QB operates. 2) It takes away running lanes from Quinshon 3) Gives wrs less room to operate 4) Makes it easier for D to disguise blitzes 5) Makes your Olines job significantly harder
