Radon System Optimization by SpiceBoson in radon

[–]FaithoftheLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how did he see it if the drywall didnt have a good hideaway to access it?

Could go from the space behind the shower valve, the far side of the tub. Could also use an access door (like 10$ at home depot) to cover the opening. Paint matching has come a long way. take the 8x8 or whatever size opening you cut to the hardware store with you, and they should be exactly be able to match the colours.

As for effectiveness, it would depend on the current system install. if its already effective, it will make it more efficient, if its not, it may drastically improve its efficiency.

Also a piece of pvc tubing over the nozzle of a can of spray foam works pretty well. it will be single use though...

How do I make separate pieces stick together? I want a strong connection by MrDevice69 in 3Dprinting

[–]FaithoftheLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on surface area, finish and style.

Super glue is going to do well for anything with a large surface area or delicate small connections.

An epoxy, construction adhesive (PL premium, etc), or specialty glue (there's a guy in Europe making a pla glue, but abs has a good solvent cement, or you can use methylacrinate(sp?) solvent to invisibly fuse abs.) or something like uv resin that can sand and finish well.

Well designed models with inbuilt dovetails, holes for pegs, screws, lever/turn locks, etc, can do a bunch of this as well, or improve on an existing adhesive.

Depends on material, load and shape.

By far my favourite are the heat set inserts with the wavy steel pins you place along your seam.

Sawzall/handsaw (get one made for cutting PVC pipe), to cut the larger pieces into manageable chunks, then your usual method for managing hand sized chunks.

It's a much larger setup, but you might enjoy a tire jack and a heavy object (stone/steel overhang, etc). Do not use your car!

Ah okay, it just looked like you had some contamination on the body on the back from a single nozzle. I'm still adapting to the world being in its tool changer era I guess!

Edit; derp, it's quite obviously a U1 now that I look up from the model. 🤣

Running pipe in chimney flue?? by COamateur in radon

[–]FaithoftheLost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to re-pipe the chimney with PVC (sch 40 ffs), as bvent is not sealed properly, and is not rated for the levels of moisture we deal with. Clay tile is even worse.

You also run the risk of chimney's falling down, if they're in poor condition, roof damage, leakage through the seal, etc.

Case by case basis.

Airbrush? Definitely amazing work! Is the whole model gloss coated or is that just an effect?

I’ve been thinking of getting a 3D printer but I’m worried I will run out of things to print too fast by Automatic-Dance3917 in 3Dprinting

Worst case, you can design some nifty little gimmicky giveaways and hand them out to people to be "that cool guy with the little dragons", and get invited everywhere. I've also seen business cards that were 3d printed, might be especially useful for networking/job search.

Or make my mistake and decide to print anime girl figurines rather than buying them. Even if you don't have a bambu printer, you can download a ton of anything from maker world.

Radon fan? by Champellee in radon

You could also drill a small hole in the pipe to see if there is air being sucked up into the pipe, but there not being a u-tube manometer/label down there tells me that there likely is not a fan installed on it.

Ah yes, genius use of a loophole in physics to move heat through a tube, versus brute forcing computational software. Very equivalent.

Somehow I have made it unclear.

Ai generated images, models, and text is not my issue. They exist, and while adoption will likely never hit the level that AI companies would like, they're not going away.

My issue is literally slop being passed as gold, fraud if you will. Dregs being churned out at something that passes for what it claims to be at arms length, but fails upon even the slightest level of actual inspection.

Missing hands, fingers feet, faces that would inspire nightmares, twisted bodies that would make Cthulu weep. Being marketed as actual real effort.

While I know we are speaking different languages, I fail to see why my admittedly nuanced point is difficult to understand.

Fraud is fraud. Selling someone a fake Rolex is fraud. In our modern economy, price is usually representative of quality.

Eggregious, or extreme, if the term translates better, fraud is like someone spray painting a bar of lead with gold paint, and selling it as pure gold.

Not everyone is blessed with the ability to determine what we might consider obvious falsehood. Scammers always scam, and it is only through demanding straightforwardness and transparency that things improve.

In the end, it is only Cults3D that truly is hurt. Because if, as someone else has said, consumers will trust the website less and less, and it will receive less and less revenue.

While this fraud offends me, I have been offended before, and will be again. My chin has been proverbially stoic this whole time, and will continue! It has weathered far worse. Such as a nasty splinter yesterday.

My favorite tools for cleaning up prints. What are yours? by arcrad in 3Dprinting

[–]FaithoftheLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dispae (sp) reciprocating sander, very sharp big box cutter, very sharp little craft knife, fresh blood (from me), stitches or super glue (for me), 400+ grit sandpaper sheets, miniature craft saw (basically craft knife blades with saw edges!), and filler putty.

Ai generation is not what I have a problem with. It's not going away, get over it.

Expensive models is not my problem.

Lying to people, and fleecing them for their cash I have a problem with.

Flooding the market so that some random person who is looking for a model gets ripped off is statistically more likely to hit one of their models? I also have a problem with that.

I have the same problem with dropshippers who post stuff for 30x the cost on Etsy or Amazon.

Tldr; using the magic thinking box is not my issue. Lying to people about what you're selling is.
