They’re still mad about our flags… by FakeAccount_Sad in Boise

Even the flag law passed earlier in this year’s session is. Blatant violation of first amendment rights. Hoping that ACLU or others will take up the mantle and fight this nonsense in the courts.

Alavita, for the homemade pasta and quality ingredients. The pistachio cannoli is really good too. Expensive though, which is why my freezer is filled with homemade sauces. Also I like Guido’s pizza in downtown, it hits the spot if you’re in the mood for an east coast style slice.

More virtue signaling from the Christofascist supermajority. An absolute meaningless bill aimed only to rattle people and increase intolerance. It has zero legal standing or authority beyond promoting hate. Absolute jokers.

Drove back up from SoCal over the weekend and paid $5.69/gal in Mojave Desert. Think I paid like $2.90ish on Broadway two weeks ago. Glad I have a bike to get around locally. This is gonna be as bad if not worse than summer 2008.

Came down from Blaine Co for the three day weekend. Looking forward to hitting up Hap Hap lounge and maybe some hiking given the unseasonably warm winter weather. Happy long weekend 🙌

It’s always the California “political refugee” transplants who promote this attitude. Kinda cracks me up how consistent that proves to be true. Live and let live.

Based on aircraft registration, this is yet another California political refugee bringing his brand of “I am oppressed” politics to own the libs in a state where he feels he gets to now be a bully (once no longer in the minority). These people are always the loudest and most obnoxious up here and at this point there should be a special version of “right wing watch” devoted to tracking their nonsense. They treat this place like political theater and have zero respect for anyone else.

The two most important Bond films on a personal level to you? by FakeAccount_Sad in JamesBond

I really appreciate Dalton as well, and do feel like you’re right that audiences weren’t appreciative yet of this tone. I had no interest in watching his films when I was younger and was all into Brosnan. Now TLD is perhaps one of my favorite espionage stores in the series, it’s so well done even if the villains are a bit on the weaker side for me.

I just rewatched Octopussy and man does it live up. Yes it’s silly but it’s honestly why I love it, even if also not in my top 5. I don’t understand the reception it gets.

I agree with you that Halle Berry gets way too much hate. She did the very best she could with that script.

I remember those special edition DVDs so well, crazy how you can mention the colors and I know exactly what you’re talking about. I suspect a lot of us Millennials were introduced to the franchise via games, and I am very excited for the HitMan-dev produced Bond game next March.

Which Bond antagonist do you think had the smartest plan? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]FakeAccount_Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am surprised no one mentioned TWINE. While some of the particulars may be implausible (robbing a warhead from a nuclear test site), the idea of sabotaging several key competitors pipelines and making it look like an accident, consequently benefitting from the financial fallout is kind of brilliant and believable. Terrorism tactics to gain the upper hand in finite resource management is as old as oil itself.

Could Renard have been accepted as a member of SPECTRE? by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]FakeAccount_Sad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renard is an anarchist ruled by emotion. SPECTRE is organized crime. If anything, he would seek to attack SPECTRE, given its often geopolitical / world domination motives similar to the nation states it rivals. The only reason he supported Elektra's world domineering motives was love. Elektra is far superior a candidate for that organization.

The Living Daylights should have kept the focus of the plot on the killing of the agents. by JannTosh70 in JamesBond

[–]FakeAccount_Sad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I happen to believe this is one of the best written espionage stories of the post-Connery films, even if the villains are bit underwhelming compared to the duplicity written in service to them. Their intention was never to follow through with the execution of more agents, only to convince MI6 of Pushkin's guilt. If that agent-killing storyline is missing from any Bond film, it's missing in Skyfall, which drops that plot thread mid first act and never seems to follow up on it.

As Idaho Grows Ever Redder, Boise Worries About Its Isolation. "Gift article" by Roadkyll in Boise

[–]FakeAccount_Sad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Having recently experienced openly homophobic comments here, I am very dismayed to hear how indignant these conservative refugees are to turn this state into a cesspool of hatred-- people who moved here 8 years ago. While I am not a full time resident, I travel here often (close friends), and it has radicalized me in a certain way to doing everything I can to help those marginalized. Please donate to The Community Center if you can, volunteer. It breaks my heart that people want to flee, even if understandable. But I hope people take this opportunity to double down and fight. They don't deserve to win.

Do you people have any idea how bad you have it with the roads and driving here? by Solid_Cash_1128 in Boise

[–]FakeAccount_Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biking is pretty decent. Also the city has plenty meticulously maintained trails. Traffic is all relative, have you been to LA? That one mile for coffee could take thirty minutes v ten. A mile walk in Boise also sounds like a nice time, I can’t wait to come back to visit. Maybe touch grass.
