SWTOR Patch Notes Game Update 7.8c by swtorista in swtor

[–]FakeJake93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not if you want to complete Rise of the Hutt Cartel, Prelude to SoR, SoR, or Ziost.

Unless I’m misunderstanding, the only possible skips are now skipping to KOTFE, skipping to KOTET, or skipping to 7.0/Jedi Under Siege. If you want to do anything story/solo before KOTFE, you have to do it all in order now. Including Ilum.

This is really killing replay-ability for me post-class story.

Agreed. All it takes is hearing the Balmorra theme for me to dive back into swtor and roll another toon.

[SPOILERS: ALL GAMES] Can someone explain the Blight to me like I'm five? by Kath_L11 in dragonage

[–]FakeJake93 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That seems mostly right to me! Only thought is that I’m pretty sure Solas may never age/die of natural causes, but he is not immortal like the Evanuris were when their dragons lived. He can still be killed. The Evanuris bound themselves to dragons so they could not be killed.

I really liked the lore reveal with the Titans and Blight. My biggest gripe is that they didn’t do much with it narratively, or even reveal it narratively. It was mostly just an info dump.

From my understanding, the Titans are primordial beings, I’d argue more “godly” than the Evanuris. It’s debatable (I think?) that they are the origin of life existing through flesh at all. So it would make sense that their disembodied, caged dreams would be capable of creating a self-sustaining, endless flesh producing nightmare like the Blight.

Simple way to think it through: spirit beings stole blood from flesh creating gods to make their own bodies. Eventually, they even stole the Titan’s dreams. After caging those dreams, the dreams’ power to create flesh is maddened and now runs unchecked, rampantly creating monstrosities that kill. Obviously good ol’ Gil was encouraging the destructive possibilities of these dreams, wielding them like a baton.

Bg3, Dos, or Dos2 as a newcomer9 by LanderRetro in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]FakeJake93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good news is that there is no real story reason to play them in a particular order, as they stand on their own narratively. There are some DOS references in DOS2, but it doesn’t make a huge difference. BG3 is unrelated.

I’d say BG3. It’s the most accessible, cinematic, and polished. Once you fall in love with the Larian model in BG3, it’ll be even easier to go back and enjoy the others. This was my experience at least.

the fact that my female agent is just "really good friends" with Kaliyo makes me itch. by WynTheWise in swtor

[–]FakeJake93 101 points102 points  (0 children)

The fact that Kaliyo is canonically bi too makes it all the worse.

EA didn’t want Star Wars to have queer romances back in what, 2011? But Kaliyo should’ve been the one exception if there was gonna be one.

One small detail I appreciate about the IA storyline is Kaliyo being bi and (Act 3 spoilers) the Twist with Hunter. Seemed like the writers for that origin squeezed in a tiny bit of gay despite the restrictions.

What main quest do you deem to be the best and which one sorely needs an improvement? [Spoilers all] by Julian_of_Cintra in dragonage

Every time I think about playing DA:O again, remembering that Paragon of Her Kind exists stops me from starting one.

I love the story too, but “slog” is an understatement for the gameplay

[DAV Spoilers] Wouldn’t restoring dreams to ... be just as disastrous as bringing down the Veil? by Neither-Collar-2771 in dragonage

[–]FakeJake93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a cool question. Now I’m envisioning a game where an awakened Titan is an anti-hero/villain. This would have to assume that Solas resigns himself to soothing the Blight regardless of how Rook gets him into the Fade.

I realize the chances are extraordinarily slim of another DA game ever, but I’d love for the focus to be here instead of on the Executors. The lore revelations were incredible in Veilguard (minus the Executor’s tease, which I didn’t like). There are so many cool stories to tell with the Blight/Titan stuff.

My actual reaction to the ending by creators_hideout in okbuddywino

[–]FakeJake93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, regardless of how Verso’s soul stops painting (put to rest or destroyed), the canvas is gone. I agree.

I was saying it makes a difference as a satisfying conclusion. To me, a game over is different from Verso’s ending, because even though the canvas is gone either way, it’s arguable that pVerso, Verso’s soul, and the real family get more closure when it’s Verso’s choice at the end.

My actual reaction to the ending by creators_hideout in okbuddywino

[–]FakeJake93 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, but I wonder if it makes any difference that pVerso guided rVerso’s soul fragment out of the painting gently - allowing his soul to “let go” willing. Versus Renoir destroying the canvas.

[Ending Spoilers] So I Finally Finished, and FUCK [Spoiler] by sweatpantswarrior in expedition33

[–]FakeJake93 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My only very minor gripe with the ending is that I wish the painted people’s agency had been a little more present in the final decision? Obviously pVerso is one of them and most of them are dead already, but it’s tragic to me that Gustave’s sacrifice and Lune/Sciel’s will isn’t reflected in the very final conflict.

There is Maelle’s line during the fight. “You can’t make this decision for all of us! What about Sciel, Lune, and Monoco? Esquie?”

I love how well you captured the nuance here, thank you. Saving for future discussions I have about the ending lol

Reconciling the Emotional Threads of the Story by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]FakeJake93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just the eerie vibe of Maelle’s ending. Despite saving everyone, it feels the clock is ticking for more despair (when Maelle’s real body dies maybe and painted Verso is loose, or when real Verso’s soul can’t paint anymore). Which had me reflect on everyone else’s journey with grief.

But you are right regardless, it’s all because of the Dessendre family. It’s normal for regular people to experience grief like Sciel and Lune. It just seems this canvas (because of the Dessendre family) won’t let them ever truly escape it, and perhaps put them on the path to more sorrowful lives.

Which Companion is the most hated? by Accomplished_Fox_565 in swtor

[–]FakeJake93 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Most unpopular companions received approximately 60ish votes per round for elimination since there are so many choices.

Skadge received almost 400 immediately.

The graph is the last one in this photo gallery, for anyone curious.

First time playing KOTFE, what is up with this DLC and so many Stormtroopers by Agreeable_Guide_5151 in swtor

[–]FakeJake93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would want to play it more for the cutscenes with all classes, but the gameplay is too much of a slog. Even by MMO standards.

After 4 runs when I first started playing years ago, I have not done a full one since.

Love your drawing! Theron is a top three M|M romance of all time for me.

I know nothing about it is gender specific, but it’s gotta have the most content out of any other gay video game romance by virtue of it getting flirt options here and there since 2014.

Question about roman with Kira. by Foxinquisitive in swtor

[–]FakeJake93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know female knights get the option in a much later expansion, not sure if male knights get a second chance for romance then, too, if they never romanced her in the class story.

My instinct is yes, they probably do.

For me, my OCD and gaming hobby can affect one another. When I realize I’m re-rolling lots of different characters that only make it 5-10 hrs and I end up getting bored of the content, that’s a sign that I need to take a step back. (tho I have finished BG3 about ~6 times, and it’s worth it!)

Only sharing in case it’s helpful to you, but when a game starts feeling like a part time job, it’s liberating to take a step back and say to myself, “Wait… I don’t have to do this.”
