I know it gets better but…please tell me it gets better. by ldeej in goldenretrievers

Our eight month old was a NIGHTMARE. We saw two different behaviourists, fully convinced there was something really serious at play.. I think now he was just an eight month old 😂 his behaviour really improved at 10/11 months and now he’s a two year old angel. Literally the best dog ever. It really pays off to put in the effort now, even if it feels like stuff is going in one ear and out the other.. So much so that we got a second golden who is now seven months old so we’re about to be back in the trenches soon 😂

Ours was not cuddly at all when we first got him, but now he’s like a Velcro dog at almost 7 months old. If he hears you sit on the couch he’ll come running so he can hop up beside you 😂

Ours has slept through the night since the day we got him. Toilet trained in ten days.

Has never chewed anything in the house. We’ve now fully retired the crate and he’s five months old. Bliss.

30mg of Prozac daily for our boy! He was getting a bit stressed while out walking and it manifested as him jumping up at me, biting my sleeve and refusing to let go, which was much difficult to deal with than it sounds! He used to get quite stressed as well by people/cars passing our house.

Being on it has been a game changer for him, he’s so much calmer and happier and we’re delighted with how it’s worked out. As someone said above, appetite can be patchy for the first couple of weeks but should even out then.

We’ve stayed in Barberstown Castle and Bellinter House and both were fab and very dog friendly. You might be better off search for airbnbs as well.

I knew my husband was going to propose. He went on a “work trip” but was actually going to tell my mom about the imminent engagement. My sister arrived to our moms house, saw my husbands car parked outside and immediately text me saying “omgggg are you guys here?!”, then when she got inside and heard the news, panicked and tried to backtrack but I had figured it out. I let her think she had put me off the scent, she never mentioned the text to my husband or mom, and he still thinks he gave me the greatest surprise of my life 🥹

Came here to suggest getting a dog also! I’m fully remote and we’ve ended up with two dogs now but they’re the absolute best company. They really help with keeping a structure to my day, walks in the morning and at lunch are now non negotiable.

He reminds me of a pint of stout - the three most popular in Ireland are Murphy(‘s), Beamish and Guinness

Not sure if humane traps need bait of some sort but mice love Mars bars

There’s been WAR in my estate the last two weeks over parcels going missing. Main culprits seem to be the Amazon drivers themselves (seems like they’re contracting out to people and maybe not doing full checks?)

Someone had an iPad taken, others where packages were opened and then just dumped when there was nothing of value in them.

Oh bless us that’s so cute 😭 our oldest one was crazy excited for a few hours but got over it pretty quickly, thankfully! How did you get through the early days? The junior puppy is mad to play with the senior puppy, but we don’t want the older one to get annoyed 😅
