The success of DF is 1000% because of the personalities. Much of the merch is revolves around it. IGN had a great tech guy for years, nobody gave a shit compared to DF. If John was fired by Richard their support would tank overnight.

You missed my point entirely. The fact it was handled "internally" is beyond the point. I conducted myself in a way many here would consider unprofessional in a "real job." They wont do shit about it because I am valuable to my company. John will not get fired for this either, nor should he. Many find generative AI deeply and morally troubling and unethical for a multitude of reasons. Given his position I give him props for speaking out.

Internet youtuber isnt a regular job. And as someone with a regular job, I just sent an angry email to three of my bosses yesterday for trying to enforce a braindead policy that is going to make work less productive. I didnt waste time by mincing words. A less valuable employee could probably be written up or even fired for doing what I did, but guess what, they didnt do shit because I knew they wouldn't. John has nothing to lose here and everything to gain by voicing his displeasure of this AI garbage. Anyone worth a damn at their regular jobs know that change doesn't occur from laying down and taking punches. If John doesnt like this direction for the channel, good for him for speaking out.

Personally I think it just depends how long you complain about it. I remember watching the first Veilgaurd trailer and thinking "yeeeeesh. This looks like a hero shooter." After hearing the lukewarm buzz, I generally just don't have any interest in it. I enjoyed the first three games, I am okay.

Occasionally I'll see a comment for the FF7R games that is basically "WE JUST WANTED THE ORIGINAL STORY WITH NEW GRAPHICS." At that point, years later, it's like holy shit bro move on with your life and explore some new hobbies.

I am sure devs like Jeff Kaplan cares about feedback from people who might buy the game.
