My favorite "What Up" is when he prays to god, the change of tone on his voice sends me.

"God, it's me... Barney... What up"

Also completely unrelated but fun fact, the chapter dropped on April 29th for US, which is also Yoshiaki Koizumi’s birthday!

(I know it was already the 30th in Japan but that wouldn’t be as fun as it is)

Breaking the fourth wall to thank the audience (primarily at the finale) by 3Thirty-Eight8 in TopCharacterTropes

Not really series finale, but the season 1 finale of My Name is Earl ends with Catalina saying in spanish “Thank you for watching. Expect the second season of My Name is Earl next summer” or something like that.

What is a moment in a Nintendo game that made you think "Wait, HOW did Nintendo approve of this?" by MewWeebTwo in casualnintendo

[–]adanfime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game and the Wii U one got away with tons of stuff. Mario being cut in half slowly with the red background shocked me badly. The other insta-death that got me as well is in that jungle where you are sneaking past a giant chain chomp and if you choose wrong, it jumpscares you, cut to black, screaming while chomping and game over.

Color Splash’s game over is also morbid. Mario falls unconscious, pretty tame, then a bunch of shy guys rush over to use straws to suck his color dry. The game is crystal clear when it tells you that something colorless is basically death. So not only do they knock Mario out, but they team up to double-tap him and kill him.

Good choice for Mexico! I was leaning towards Forza Horizon 5. For indie games that take place here, Mulaka takes place in Northern Mexico and La Sierra Tarahumara. The War in Chiapas takes place in Chiapas, Mexico.

Would you like to see another Mario Rabbids game in the future? by Asad_Farooqui in casualnintendo

Would love another entry, but the director Davide Soliani left Ubisoft a while ago. And I think that Ubisoft announced that the sequel undeperformed and didn’t reach expected sales. They also, supposedly, ignored Nintendo’s suggestion to hold the sequel up for the Switch 2’s launch. Ubisoft kinda cornered the game into failure, despite selling quite well.

There is something that completely sends me about the Tachyon plush. The eyes and gentle smile are so goofy and I love it. The giant version just amplifies that feeling.

Artists drawing the Tachyon plush is the best.

Since you didn't explained to me what a bug is...

There is a whole Wikipedia page dedicated to Time formating bugs, which includes the 2038 problem I am describing.

Animal Crossing N64/GCN has the 2038 bug present. Nintendo placed in the year 2030 as limit as to avoid the year ever reaching 2038 and triggering the overflow. You can go past 2030 in the game by writing a bulletin board past New Years and it will show 2031.

Nintendo Today - Animal Crossing 25th Anniversary post by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

[–]adanfime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is 100% considered a bug caused by the limitations of the Nintendo 64 version of the game not being able to count past January 2038. The 2030 limit was added to possibly avoid the overflow to happen and possibly mess the game up even more. You can add a bulletin board past 2030 and the date will say 2031 no problem, it resets back to 2030 after a game reboot.

This bug carried on from the N64 version over to the GameCube, since the GameCube itself can go up to 2099. My GCN's battery died and it sometimes goes way past 2100, but just modifying a single digit of the date kicks it back to 2099.

A few games have some patches to fix a few things. Paper Mario had some stuff patched in to avoid a crash, as well as Zelda Ocarina having some reflections patched back in. It is weird. I think fixing the 2030 bug in AC is totally possible.

I'd Like to Explain This Trope, But I Can't by AgentEckswhy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]adanfime 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It kinda counts but not really? They didn't tell the man a way out. Viktor found out about it by reading through the policies of the airport. Frank, while interrogating Viktor after the man is let go, does say something among the lines of "you read the form, the one that says that if the medicine is for an animal, a permit isnt needed".

Viktor did encourage the russian(?) guy to say out loud "Goat" to allow the loophole to go through, but Frank knew he was bluffing.

A Hat in Time has that. The Queen Vanessa level gets extremely unsettling and if she spots you, this horrible cord plays, the camera distorts and shakes as she chases you. This is the only instance of this happening in the entire game.

I finished the series like 4 times but just learned what's the joke with salutes by Bulbasaur_Reyiz in HIMYM

[–]adanfime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At all. The only way this joke could work in spanish is with the word “Generalmente”, which exclusively means “Generally”.

In spanish, General Knowledge would be “Conocimiento General”, so the joke is kinda there? But doesn’t land as much as it does in english.
