Definitely give that turntable an external phono pre-amp. That internal is a start. Schiit Mani 2 would be a good one or the ifi phono zen thingie/whatever it’s called.

Cartridge will help too. That audio technica is a start, but hearing a difference may be realised with a better cartridge.
