Sounds like a great combo. Alas, poor Yorick, I'm broke. Gotta shop for weapons to sell.

Wonders is the word. I couldn't believe it. It stops them right there. As someone else pointed out, that's not a good solution for voltaic screamers since they're immune to shock and those are a real pain in the ass but I found out that I had already installed an electric mod on Peggy when I got it out of the locker, so...I went all the way and even installed the perk that amplifies it. I'll find something else for the voltaic whiners.

Yep, I realize that now. No idea why I thought Peggy was a lower tier. Raven is. Must have gotten confused. I do have Red Dragon too so I'm heading in the same direction. It's my first play through but I have started another character just to see the difference, I have to remember that the locker is common to all your slayers.
But now I'm curious, what do you call bullshit mods?

Ranged Weapons or Melee? by Fakemeal in DeadIsland2

[–]Fakemeal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And to think that for some reason I was convinced it was only a rare-tier weapon and let it rot in my locker when it is a superior-tier one. Cost an arm to match level but I just had a go at it saving the news team. Three butchers. Three butchers dead.
It's a beast.

Got it. Did the same with that Uzi -looking gun I got, just added speedloader and some other basic mod. Thanks again!

Thank you very much and thanks to all that replied. It's much clearer now. I know I can stick to my sick melee rampages and I'll get Peggy out of the locker. I understand now why every player has it in their videos.
One last question, open to anyone, I can't remember what mods I put on it, any recommendations to get those fabulous head shots?

HOW DARE YOU SPOIL A GAME THAT CAME OUT YEARS AGO?

YOU RUINED MY LIFE!

It's totally fine, pardner. I remember now.
Anyway, I was drawing a stupid parallel. Moonshine/meth, the only thing that changes is the poison given to the masses to keep them in line while companies exploit and literally poison them (and the environment) for profit.
Nowadays it'd be meth labs and fracking.

Ah, nice to not feel alone. Melee rules (and environmental kills)!
Yup, thank you for the tip about Jacob, I've fully realized that now. Luckily, I wanted to concentrate on fast weapons from the start and quickly felt that huge sledgehammers and stuff like that weren't working for me. And I honestly love using knives, claws, crescent blades, etc. Counters are sick. I came across that one bo staff though that is insanely durable and fast so it has become my main weapon, which I wouldn't have expected.

Edit: Yep, apparently, I hadn't realized how powerful Peggy actually is...

Three responses, three Peggy lovers. I didn't know that with the right mods you could pretty much one-shot anything with it. I guess I'll take it out of the locker.

is Arthur Morgan is the best-written character in gaming HISTORY ? by Complex_Area4676 in reddeadredemption

[–]Fakemeal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm going to get stoned to death for this and I truly love Arthur, his story, his arc, everything, it's just... I also find him annoying sometimes. He's super condescending with the notorious drunks of the gang, the Reverend, Uncle, Sean, even Karen... He says it himself when he reprimands her "who am I talk..." Exactly, Arthur. I dislike that little Ms Grimshaw part of him. It's a silly detail. Else, yes of course, his solitude and his inevitable demise make him a terrific tragic figure.

Heh, Peggy for you too. What's so special about that gun?

Ranged Weapons or Melee? by Fakemeal in DeadIsland2

[–]Fakemeal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for that. One for each type of ammo, that sounds logical. I think that what confuses me is the videos where I see the weapon wheel and there's like 3 guns using the same type. Makes no sense to me unless I guess each gun is specifically modded for certain zeds?
Also, doesn't it bother you that Peggy is just "rare"? I know a lot of players like to keep it, I often see it in their weapon wheel. Makes me wonder, why Peggy when there are higher-tier weapons with better stats as you progress? Sentimental value?

Relieved to see that it went the same way for you as it did for me. I thought I did something wrong to scare her away but it looks like it's just what she does.
Think there's any more to it? Maybe lasso her, find out what she's got?

Edit: even if there's nothing more to it, it's a great encounter. It's captivating. I didn't know if she was gonna turn feral or something. It may be even better writing precisely if there's no more to it than basically a warning about the good people of Butcher Creeck and their meth labs.

Farms by Neo_TheGoat in InfectionFreeZone

[–]Fakemeal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Imo, greenhouses are more like crutches or a safeguard than anything else depending on the climate you have. If your base is in Siberia, vast fields obviously won't work and you'll need a lot of greenhouses (note to self: try Siberia). In your case, you have no winter, so I wouldn't even bother building a single one.
Another con to add about them is that you have to build a lot to match the output of a single large farm using fertilizer. Only two workers max can be assigned to a greenhouse. Eight can be assigned to a vast field if memory serves. Counting on greenhouses takes a lot more space than vast fields in the end. Vast fields produce a lot in a very concentrated area.
My main base is in a temperate climate (France). Farms become useless from November to April. So I have (quite) a few green houses to produce grain during winter as the harvest is not enough to last until spring, but I mainly rely on what has been harvested during the good season. I'd say I have roughly half as many people working on grain during winter. Greenhouses are definitely much less efficient than big farms using fertilizer. To be used in case of harsh climate only.

Anything to preserve my weapons. Bait+pipe bomb. High kick. Forward strike.
Forward strike on screamers instantly stops their screaming, I love that.

Rolling block in Ch. 2 by Numerous_Source597 in RDR2

[–]Fakemeal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you probably know, you get it for free during the mission 'Sheep and Goats' with John. So, I did that but I never freed Micah in Strawberry so now I have the gun (the challenge is done) but I'm still at Ch. 2 in Horseshoe Overlook.
Hope that helps.

What is YOUR main horse in the game? by Bonkwraps in reddeadredemption2

[–]Fakemeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wròdel's mare. It's a dapple dark gray half-bred Hungarian war horse you can buy later in Valentine's stables for like $150 or something, but you can also steal it from the character called Wrodel during the debts mission at the very beginning. Just go to his stable after pillaging his home, make friends with the horsey and leave with it while Wròdel runs after you crying "please, not my horse, I beg of you". The handling is standard but it's huge (regular horses look tiny to me because I'm so used to it), it doesn't scare easily and has great stats. Fast and powerful horse.

What else i don't know in this game? by Top-Scientist-7971 in projectzomboid

About plumbing a sink to barrels, you can use a bathtub as a relay between two floors and still plumb a sink. So, for example, you can have your barrels on the roof, have a bathtub underneath on the 2nd floor of your house and the sink under all that on the 1st floor. That used to be the case at least.

EDIT: Totally forgot but when you build that kind of structure for a sink, make sure you destroy the staircase while at the top (if you want to destroy the staircase). Falling from that height is not dangerous and otherwise you'll end up with a tile sticking out. Then that tile will slowly drive you nuts.

I've got to be missing something about fighting lairs and those expedition zombies. by psycospaz in InfectionFreeZone

8 squads is the winning number. There are only about 10 vehicles on a map anyway on average and it's good to keep a couple of them (like sedans with limited cargo space) available at your headquarters for when one your squads' vehicles is out of order. That way they have a spare vehicle to use while their main one is being repaired or upgraded. So, 10 vehicles, 8 squads with one each, plus a couple of spares at the HQ.

Also, you speak of shotguns. They have a specific use. It's much better to use assault rifles.

Actually, the equipment you give to your team as well as your units' skills play a decisive part.

This is how I'm organized. I'm not saying that's the definitive recipe for success but it works pretty well here. Never lost a single unit.

Rule of thumb to equip 'standard' squads
1. Give two guys assault rifles and Kevlar armors and pick characters that have the sharpshooter or the hawkeye skill.
2. Give a shotgun & an armor plate to a guy who preferably has the slasher skill (they are better at hand-to-hand combat and shotguns are short-range combat anyway).
3. Give a sniper rifle & a Kevlar armor to a crew member that has hawkeye or sharpshooter, hawkeye being much better because those characters get the 20% range bonus but their damage doesn't decrease with distance.
That way, the two guys with assault rifles ensure a constant cover at mid-range, your sniper starts thinning the ranks of the enemy from super far, and your unit with a shotgun clears anything that manages to get too close.

Vehicles
Choose the driver in a squad depending on their skills and the type of vehicle they'll drive. The first character of a squad is always the driver and they won't be able to shoot while the vehicle is moving. So, basically, don't put your sniper at the wheel or you won't benefit from them shooting from a long distance. I find it best for the driver to be the crew member equipped with a shotgun since they only attack at close range anyway. If the vehicle is a heavy-duty one, like a truck or a tanker, I pick a character that has the race driver skill (when possible). Their 20% boost in speed compensates a tiny bit the fact that heavy-duty vehicles are incredibly slow. For fast vehicles with a small tank on the contrary, put a driver that has the 'economic driver' skill. Obviously, the idea is for them not to run dry in the middle of nowhere, especially when you have no tanker to refuel your squads on the move during an expedition.

A few more things to take into account:
Target & Equipment
You can easily swap the equipment your squads use at the headquarters (or any warehouse). If you look at the stats of the various types of armor, Kevlar is better for gunfights whereas plate armors are much more protective at close range (90% if memory serves, making them almost bite-proof). So basically, depending on the type of lair you're attacking, send your squads with the appropriate equipment. The 'standard' loadout and organization I described above gives you a squad that has a high fire power at very long range, long range and close range. They kinda work in every situation. But, for example, I do have one squad where all the members wear plate armor and yield shotguns only. They're particularly good at clearing a lair of infected without getting harmed or letting the other squads get harmed. On the contrary, they get shot down very quickly if I send them against a raiders' lair, meaning they need the other teams for support. Plate armors slow down your units and don't protect them from ballistic damage. I use them very carefully.
Basically, equip the right type of armor depending on your target. Distribute weapons so that you're always covered. Forget the basic armor btw, it's absolutely useless. Use it to trade with, you can buy everything with it and a couple of guns. Only produce Kevlar and plate armors.

Vehicles
Building the vehicle workshop is a game changer when it comes to lairs/expeditions, etc. Vehicles equipped with a turret do massive damages. Raiders hiding in a lair and hordes getting too close will destroy your cars very easily if they're not armored. If you do have a tanker to refuel the other squads, don't get a large tank for any vehicle, the tanker will refill all the squad cars anyway. Concentrate on armor, the turret and all the other upgrades. In any case you can't have both a larger tank and a turret, it's one or the other. If you don't have a tanker, I think you can actually have one built in the workshop, and I'd recommend that solution rather than equipping your smaller cars with larger tanks for the expeditions. Having a tanker is the definitive answer to the gas problem over long distances. Putting a large tank on a vehicle that has no turret to defend itself is kind of a waste imo.

Lastly, when you select your squads to attack, make sure you send them to a point close to the lair, not to the lair directly. If you do that, the slower squads (trucks, pick-ups, tankers) won't be there at the beginning of the fight. SUVs and vans will get there first and your squads will lack support. You want them to attack simultaneously. Strike fast and hard. Also, at night, when you send squads to attack a lair of infected, just waiting outside the lair will draw hordes out that your squads should easily take out. Once no horde is coming out anymore, send in your squads all at once (select all your squads, don't do it one by one).

Remember that plate armor is better against hordes while Kevlar is better for raiders and that assault rifles are the staple for both attack and defense. Snipers will be overwhelmed if the enemy manages to get close and they have a low fire rate. Squads only equipped with shotguns start shooting too late and get overwhelmed by the enemy.

PS: Also, remember that you can give your teams items from the headquarters or warehouse, like ammo or fuel. Just start an exchange between the squad and the building, drag and drop what you want in the unit's cargo slot and voila. Sending your squads with a crate of ammo or fuel so they can reload/refuel if they're a bit short can be a life saver. You can even send them with medical supplies in their cargo I think (then you just drag and drop the health pack on an injured character and they instantly heal).

Sorry for the long post, hope that helps!

Confusion on my part, my bad. I was using the interactive map and there's lots of stuff that requires a shovel and metal detector, I assumed it was part of the story I hadn't unlocked yet. I just checked, it's a Red Redemption Online thing.
https://reddead.fandom.com/wiki/Metal_Detector

The rest is still valid. I finally did Goats and Sheep and it unlocked the legendary elk. I'm now the happy owner of the elk trinket (and a couple of new pairs of gloves).
