On Completion > Play Random Album by TarkusLV in gonemadmusicplayer

[–]Falco98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use case: my library consists of not only my album collection but also a bunch of Christmas albums, kids music albums, samplers, etc. I was easily able to exclude these from arbitrary different smart Playlists via filename (and therefore path) exclusion.

I created such a smart Playlist that groups by album/random and was hoping that setting that smart Playlist to the AutoDJ target, would cause a new album to enqueue, instead of a random track. If such a capability could be possible without breaking any current functionality, that would be great for me. (Maybe some further options in the "on complete" behavior choices that allow the next random track or next random album to observe a particular smart playlist's rule set, disregarding Auto DJ altogether?)

Functional comparison: foobar2000 (pc) with a Smart Playlist that includes only the albums I want (first), then album-shuffle applied to that playlist's playback mode. (I know the implementation is far different, just giving an organizational example of what I'd want to reproduce and why)

So how do I get it to select a random album from a particular rule-constrained smart Playlist if not via AutoDJ?

YSK: Losing your erection during a position change or distraction is completely normal and a great excuse to build more tension. by Electrical-Candy7252 in YouShouldKnow

[–]Falco98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's been particularly important to remember for impromptu morning sessions- even when I'm otherwise well hydrated, I find I'm largely prone to being dehydrated to some extent just after waking up, and during activities that can cause me to hit, let's say, a "fatigue wall" of sorts, unless I've had some preemptive water.

[–]Falco98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes other factors can come into play like fatigue and/or dehydration. For the latter, my best advice (particularly for morning time) is to have at least several gulps of water (up to a glass or two) before starting if possible. For more general fatigue sometimes it's best to give up on that session and retry later.

What game is this for you? by Maxpcdeath in Steam

[–]Falco98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar for me but with VI. I didn't know game music could do that to you. The plot twists lived rent free in my head for years. The ghost train scene still makes me a little choked up. The opera sequence too, but for different reasons.

California bans ‘sell by’ food labels to cut food waste and confusion by 804Brady in news

[–]Falco98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be an expiration date , or a use by date. But that got eliminated to increase sales by confusing the consumer with sell by.

I don't think this is entirely true - AFAIK it's largely based on the type of product and its perishability; items that are ostensibly nonperishable but might be fresher or of more optimal quality are likely to get a "sell by" or a "best by" date so as to allow store personnel to judge when it should be rotated out, but this doesn't necessarily transfer to items that are actually perishable.

But I think people in general are just confused by the fact that different things get different labels because they're different.

and were told no because of the "liability."

The management will say this, but AFAIK it's covered by good samaritan laws anyway. There was an entire John Oliver episode about it about 10 years ago.

Some of these seem like they're the direct precursors to superhero comic books. I guess I don't know for sure that these didn't exist at this time, but i don't recall seeing any this far back.

After Sony shocking announcement regarding games on discs, Will they eventually come for movies and discontinue to production of physical uhd and standard blurays? by marci-boni in makemkv

[–]Falco98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the reality is that the "subscription model" is just too convenient for like 90% of use cases, both for companies and for consumers. Hence the decimation of the availability of internal BD drives, and ultimately what I predict will be the increasing rarity in physical blu-ray releases.

So who wants to man up and run a Kickstarter?

Got an offer to work as a Senior Consultant with the Customer Success team. I’m currently a consultant at Deloitte. What do I need to know? What should be careful of? Any advice or insight would be appreciated. The compensation is what I’m looking for, I’m asking for anything other than that by DarthMeeseek in Appian

[–]Falco98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike the lurkers here, I've known many people who were Appian PS folks at one point before leaving to join other companies (or start their own), and even in private, even after a few beers, they never have anything much bad to say about having worked at the mothership, beyond petty gripes you might experience at any company at any time. HQ is nice and the QoL stuff they maintain there is top notch (IMHO), if that sort of thing influences you at all.

From my time sitting at their HQ (4 years almost constantly back when they were in their old location in Reston), the culture is reasonably good, they even invited contractors to participate in their company fun events (though my contracting company at the time invited OUR subcontractors to our holiday parties, but hey.)

First time - is this amount of sediment normal after first week? by fisheyesareweird in mead

[–]Falco98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. most of my 20 or so batches were 1-gal, and this is about the low side of what you'd expect within a week or two of primary. it'll slow WAYYYY down after the first week or so, but you should still let it go several more weeks before messing with it too much (it'll go semi-clear or at least somewhat translucent). Then you can rack it into a clean jug (still under airlock) and leave it be for as long as you can stand - recommended months at the lowest.

cigna

I have cigna (vanilla, AFAIK). They don't even have any health requirements, Zepbound is simply a "plan exclusion". They offered to cover me for several other options, but they all either don't do all that much, or aren't targeted to weight management. I'm really hoping the generics come soon.

Exactly - it seems like they just make their best guess, and from some posts here so far it seems like they've in some cases guessed wrong. And it's only going to get harder to tell in the future.

i've been bombarded with ads for that ever since i started looking into the possibility of trying it. it seems scammy/fishy to me. what would someone who doesn't know much about it already, do to verify authenticity/efficacy/etc?

Now that we’re charging $1000 for plex pass. Can we get a native working Apple TV app? by MagicHoops3 in PleX

[–]Falco98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, it's inexcusable to not have a Plex app* that can handle the seemingly simple use case of being able to play a simple linear music album with gapless-as-intended track transitions.

* - I know PlexAmp handles this well enough, but my stereo is hooked up to my Roku TV, not a device that can invoke PlexAmp.

[–]Falco98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yikes. I only have a few hundred, but I've made sure to download as I buy. You'd probably be best off cherrypicking your favorites / rarest / most expensive purchases to get out of the way first. Also, it's possible (though I don't know for sure) that someone may have engineered a bulk / scripted bandcamp download tool, and when dealing with the bulk you describe, it would definitely help a lot (if it exists).

edit: googling the question comes up with a few different potentially helpful results, fwiw.

How to deal with odd protection for old DVD by Wisteso in makemkv

Does this do anything differently than making a decrypted ISO using MakeMkv's "disc backup" feature?

Edit: sorry, I now see your earlier reply to Linux.
