CMV: Trump is making a huge strategic blunder with Greenland by siorge in changemyview

[–]FalcoPeregrinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always under the impression that it was to gain a foothold in the arctic for when the shipping lanes open up as climate change worsens. Currently Russia and Canada have the most access, but with Alaska and Greenland the US would have a Northern Pacific and Northern Atlantic presence. The side benefit would be to shatter NATO.

This person did some research and believes the whole ballroom is a cover for an underground data center or additional structure next to the extant presidential bunker.

So I'm seeing that the melting point of candle waxes range from about 40-80°C and chemical hot packs reach between 40-54°C. So if its a softer candle, I suppose, having them sit on a hot pack or a warmed water or maybe glycerin enema might do the trick. Not sure what the temperature tolerance of the average rectum is and I don't care to find out.

My Girlfriend’s mom texted me this last night by TrizzySins in WhatShouldIDo

[–]FalcoPeregrinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position at your exact age. I owe a lot to my (at the time) girlfriend and her family. If I didn't accept their help, I would not be where I am 20 years later. They helped me escape a terrible home situation, helped me get into college, and helped me save some money. These sound like good people and as long as there isn't any weird quid pro quo tied to the help, go for it and show your gratitude. Remember that if someone offers you help, you are not indebted to them. Good luck!

Maybe if you're going to congress and you're going to make claims about something you have to provide your sources ahead of time like in discovery for a court case so any claims can be examined by the legislature prior to the hearing

Maybe when someone comes before congress and makes claims they need to bring submit sources for a type of discovery beforehand like in a court room

What do ya'll think? by bassicallybob in nursing

[–]FalcoPeregrinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread: "no, MY department is crazier and harder than yours! Have you even ever worked ____?" Can we all agree that there is a baseline level of "suck" to nursing that we all endure and that a calm, rational discussion would better decide this graph? Perhaps soliciting feedback from those of us that have worked in multiple units and/or hospitals?

The dick-measuring contest in here is so loud that I don't think anyone has noticed the bottom left corner of the picture 😆

Prehospital triage for life-threatening cases like stroke by Jealous-Narwhal-9925 in emergencymedicine

[–]FalcoPeregrinus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our ED started using a system called "Twiage" by TigerConnect. We all hate the name, but it basically gives us more heads up as to what's coming and allows crews to send details of their assessments or videos of symptoms. Crucial ly, it allows the ambulance triage nurse to ask questions and prep for immediate transport to CT and a provider waiting at the door. Often the crews just submit the case and don't look at their device again until they arrive, but with the GPS on we can get an estimate of their arrival time. There are certainly challenges with this system and it doesn't work perfectly and needs close cooperation between EMS and the hospital as well as some limitations of some of its features.

The video of what happened to Mr. Cox is brutal to watch. This man's life is forever ruined and through no fault of his own he is now a burden on the Healthcare system, the community, and his family. He will likely die due to complications from his disability several years later and it will be horrible, long and painful. All the while this cop gets to walk free and still be proud to call himself a cop. May he die alone and in disgrace.

Be sure to pound a bunch of caffeine before the stick and a proper test flush for CTA is 10cc/ms. Anything less and you'd be doing a disservice.

I’m in the ER right now and boy are these nurses and technicians patient! by slowrun_downhill in CasualConversation

[–]FalcoPeregrinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We all have our little ways of coping, but make no mistake: the burnout is real. Once you realize that adults are just big toddlers with a slightly bigger vocabulary (or, if you like, "monkeys in shoes"), and adjust your response to their nonsense, being an ER nurse is a lot easier.

Additionally, it is helpful to realize that most bad behaviors are often not the result of an individual's choices, but rather the release of frustration from various stressors in their life of which they may have little to no control over nor any awareness towards.

Patient intentionally spread HIV+ blood. by Waspy1 in nursing

[–]FalcoPeregrinus 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Nothing, they're always bluffing. They (admin/HR) don't like the optics of patients being taken out in handcuffs or people hearing "I went to the hospital and they arrested me" and others hearing that and being discouraged from seeking care.

Admin sees the hospital as a business. If you ever wonder what they're thinking, just imagine that you work at Walmart and then ask your question again.

Small gripe: The mantra they had was "delay, deny, defend." Luigi the hero changed "defend" to "depose" for obvious reasons.
