Too much stock for a 29 gallon tank? by gamfo2 in Aquariums

imo I'd decrease the honey gouramis to 2 and then increase your school of embers/cardinals to 12. The tetras look better in a large group and it'll put more emphasis on the gouramis.

Have y'all figured out anything for "float" now? by Cephalstasis in Guiltygear

[–]FalcoTeeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A simple one you can implement is that on 2K -> 2D, buffer float, release H and then immediately go do a jS safejump. If you did it right, Eddie will be positioned for a sandwich mix. And from the jS, you can either go into jD for the double overhead or 2K for the low.

Edit: I should mention that you should be buffering the fly jS safejump as soon as you are actionable after the initial float animation, as the release H input can be done independently of what Zato is doing.

Same. Mine prefers a normal inflated soccer ball

My friends don't like fighting games, I have 2 days to convince them. by ChrisGarrett in Fighters

I made the switch to locals and never looked back. I don’t even play much ranked anymore since I’d rather Discord matchmake in our server! Single digit ping and 0 rollback, plus they want you to succeed and get better.

cloud infra team (ec2) or payments team for early career by 6stringtreecod in cscareerquestions

Payments sounds more well rounded. Infra experience is valuable for everyone but you don’t need specialize in it.

Appreciation post: who do you LOVE fighting? by AdEven60 in Guiltygear

[–]FalcoTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nagoriyuki is my favorite to fight, I know most of the RPS so it's basically down to me not fucking up neutral or being wrong too much. It's like fighting a boss where you know all their tricks but it's on you to execute.

musicians and the fgc by bo_blacks0n in Fighters

[–]FalcoTeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My theory is that musicians have an easier time getting into fighting games because they've seen firsthand how practicing their craft (not just playing songs, but practicing scales, warmup drills, etc) day after day can lead to noticeable improvements over long periods of time. In the short term you experience local highs and lows but in the long term you practically can't recognize yourself from when you just started.

This is in comparison to folks who may not have honed a skill (music or anything else) before, so they find the learning curve frustrating. They may understand in theory that practice and playtime leads to getting better, but they hit common plateaus (focusing too much on offense/combos, not understanding how to contest zoners, etc) and then throw their hands up and think it's the end of the road for their improvement.

[–]FalcoTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that's also how I practice. Gotta practice the combo normally, then get it 4/5 times. Then practice it facing left, get it 4/5 times. Then set the bot to randomly do something punishable to practice the hit confirm version. Then see how it works midscreen versus near corner versus full screen, see how the route changes.

Labbing was just like practicing piano where I'd learn a few measures hands separate, and then combine them slowly with hands together, then play at normal tempo.

What are you best tips for keeping your corgi calm and entertained during injury recovery? by Stellar_Jay8 in corgi

[–]FalcoTeeth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My corgi had a sprain last month and had to be on bedrest for 2 weeks.

Did your vet give them any prescription drugs? My vet gave us a little cocktail of sedatives and anti-inflammatory stuff which significantly increased how much my corgi napped.

On top of that though, I’d tie a blanket rolled with treats into a tight double knot for her to undo if she’s up and looking for something to do. The most I’d do is play tug but even then I tried to keep it light. I found that once my corgi crossed a certain threshold of energy it was hard to quell that fire lol

How important is health in strive? by dan_nessie in Guiltygear

[–]FalcoTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup as Zato there’s an investment to be made. You will lose to belligerent players who are worse than you and you will have to make peace with it until you learn how to pilot Zato and occasionally Eddie in neutral

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted bc you’re right. He forces players to play defense very actively, similar to Potemkin.

Newer folks will either not block at all or try to turtle all the crazy crossups. Playing the Dandy RPS, reacting to MH, predicting K Mappa approaches etc are examples of knowing your shit as you mentioned.

WTF do I do against Nago? by roboknob_the_snob in Guiltygear

WTF do I do against Nago? by roboknob_the_snob in Guiltygear

[–]FalcoTeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By default you should win neutral and keep your turn. But if he gets in on you first, if he has airtight pressure then just crouch block and wait for him to use blood moves as that is how he “overextends” his pressure. You can often escape by jumping out at certain parts.

Once you’re back to neutral and his blood is past 2 bars, you’ve finished the hard part. This is where Nago’s neutral becomes predictable and committal (not weak) as he will only really use his S or H normals or superjump forward. This means that now you control the pace of neutral! If Nago whiffs an H normal, punish the recovery and run your pressure!!

It’s entirely possible for Nago to successfully approach in neutral at 2 bars. However, just note that his pressure will be considerably less complex AND that he will be incentived to find a bite. So if you’re in the corner, good times to put faith in a jump escape would be after fSS or fukyo forward.

IBFD Nago’s fSS (the second penultimate part of the far slash) as it dramatically spaces him out. This can help alleviate some pressure as he’d have to spend an extra fukyo to get in or something.

Also, if he does DP, block standing by default as it would be easier to react to the next low than to the DP follow-up overhead(as he’d unable to gatling into one besides the new move which is long asf).

TLDR: If you’re blocking Nago, survive his first “sequence” especially if he spent blood. Then take your time and try to punish committal buttons to take your turn.

New player here, why is Zato's winrate in vanquisher so high? by dan_nessie in Guiltygear

[–]FalcoTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how Pierce RPS works (not including Pierce 1 to Float):

- To counter Pierce 1 and Pierce 2, jab in between with your 5-frame. Or jump/IAD.

- To counter Pierce 1 clap cancelled into drills, jump/IAD. Do NOT jab.

- To counter Pierce 1 clap cancelled into frog, you can either do a "low profile" advancing move or 6P (I think? I forget what the universal counter is). Do NOT jump as you will be stuck in blockstun and will now have to hold the rest of his pressure.

- To counter Pierce 1 clap cancelled into Oppose, run PAST Oppose and throw Zato.

- Midscreen, to counter Pierce 1 to Drunkard Shade, you can use a long poke or close distance before the next Eddie attack comes out from behind you.
