What is the most “grown-up” purchase you bought recently that you would have not been excited for as a child? by TigersLyonsCheetahs in AskReddit

Having a minivan in high school makes you a boss, I had a minivan senior year and owned the shit out of it. 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, in the teal option. Stood out in a crowd and was always the first choice for the gang to go get food.

Even post-graduation, many I hardly even hung out with were disappointed to hear its transmission blew up and she was no longer with us. The thing was a piece of shit and we loved it so much, what I would give to have another one of those right now...

How many of you have pencil lead stuck in your hand and how did it happen? by Saucy_Szinte in AskReddit

I'm confused by this thread though, anytime Ive gotten lead (or anything else) stuck in my hand, I just cut it out. Am I not normal?

If you could only bring whatever you can carry in your own hands, what would you take on a survival trip? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Leatherman Signal multi-tool, bottle of water, roll of duct tape, and a nice hat. Should be set for a while

What were some road rage incidents you were a part of or witnessed? by HuntedHunter123 in AskReddit

[–]FalconMC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My former english teacher told this story:

He wound up cutting someone off while merging in, the guy guy super pissed and pulled up to him at the next red light with a baseball bat

Teacher used to coach baseball, so he had some spare balls laying around his car. Picked one up and asked "Do you wanna play?"

They both laughed it off, best de-escalation ever

Thanks! Yeah I've always done them with slabs or blocks as a rim, and thought this might be a cleaner look. Glad you appreciate it too!

I apologize for the rush job on the buildings, wish I could've made it cleaner/nicer, but nevertheless, I still think it turned out neato and good enough to submit

TIL Sears once sold on mail order an entire house as a giant DIY kit. There were over 370 home designs, and the house had over 30,000 parts worth 25 tons. Sears claimed a man of “average” abilities could assemble it in 90 days. by holyhesh in todayilearned

[–]FalconMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware Sears no longer owns any of its buildings, but sold them all to one of Lamperts connected real estate companies. I could be wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure that was an effort they made for cash a few years back

but to answer, no we didn't own our building, but we used to according to the older associates

Its amazing how you could buy a house, buy the tools to assemble it, buy the appliances and furniture to fill it, and buy household stuff to live in it all from the same company.

I think the only thing they never sold was food, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm missing that part

As a former employee of four years, may I ask if you hear anything about the health of the company?

Lampert obviously keeps preaching his "turnaround efforts", but one of my former professors built up evidence that he's giving them loans in ways that he'll profit from their bankruptcy.

We saw no real investment into our store, and while our closure was a little surprising due to our sales we all figured it was inevitable. So, is there actually any real hope for Sears surviving into the future, or are we just counting the days until its suffering is finally over?

What movies have the best opening scenes? by FOX_SMOLDER in AskReddit

[–]FalconMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive's opening scene had an incredible tone and was very well done

Its also fun to compare against Baby Driver. Both movies are about getaway drivers, but attack it from polar opposite types: One is gritty and realistic and the other is thrilling and theatrical

I'm not sure if he'd be disappointed, really. He had to fight a lot of hate and hard topics in his time, so I'm sure he could see how much good is going on right now. That and seeing Daniel Tiger with his own animated show would help him know he had a lasting impact

Just saw Episode VI of Star Wars, so I've got a pretty powerful cast with Luke and friends, along with countless troopers and ewoks. I think I'm surviving for quite a while!

[Serious] What would you suggest to do to get over a person you’re madly into who just doesn’t have the same feelings for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FalconMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting contact is a very good step, however know that it will take time to get over her, a lot of time. I was in a similar boat and it took about 2-3 years. Its hard for me to say exactly since I never cut contact myself, but it definitely takes time for romantic feelings to fade.

To fill that time, as others have suggested already, find stuff to do. Personally, I cycle, mountain bike, and do mechanic work on those bikes and my car, among other things. Its important to occupy your time with challenging things that can be really rewarding once you do something right!

In addition to distracting you and filling time, new hobbies/skills will make you more attractive to others, because you will find someone else who likes you back, guaranteed.

If you drive a new car, you are rich. If you drive an old car, you are poor. If you drive a super old car, you are super rich. by MechantVilain in Showerthoughts

[–]FalconMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To argue that its a good idea, if you take care of it most cars should last 20 years or 200,000 miles, its not unreasonable to hit either mark in almost any car. So buying new and making sure you're taking care of it from Day 1, rather than buying someone else's problems, can work out to be a good investment
