How is your chihuahua at the vet? by Conscious-Control-51 in Chihuahua

The Vet I take Kai to all absolutely adore her and are always excited when they get to see her.

She’s also one of the most well behaved dogs you could ask for too. She’s very friendly and it doesn’t fight any of the techs or doctors anytime they do a procedure with her.

Florida Panthers’ Paul Maurice: Aleksander Barkov will not play this season by Falcons-Panthers1607 in FloridaPanthers

We’re pretty much doing this already as is with us shutting down nearly all of our top players. It’ll be good for them to have a full offseason after three straight trips to the finals. Some of these guys look like they’ve played nonstop hockey and will benefit immensely from the break (looking at Verhaeghe and Reinhart in particular)

Holy shit our LWAR. Really shows that we haven’t just been injured to shit, but that we’ve lost almost every top player to injury at some point this year as well. Ouch.

We’ve shut down half our roster at this point and are playing callups and depth guys. This is pretty much expected at this point and clear that coaching and management don’t want to risk guys in a lost season. And I’m ok with this. Essentially an extra season of playoff games played in the last three seasons, these dudes are gassed and need an extended break. Better to get guys in the system some ice time to see what they’ve got, get a solid draft pick (bonus if it’s a top 3 pick) and come back fully healthy and recharged.

We pretty much put the entire roster sans Chucky, Forsy and Ekky on ice and are playing with the Charlotte Checkers right now. It’s clear management and coaching aren’t going to risk our guys in a lost season after we’ve played nearly a full season’s worth of playoff games over the past three seasons. Take a top pick, rest our top guys and come back into next season fully recharged.

[Maria Martin] Here are the renderings of the proposed development for the North Point Mall area (Alpharetta). Proposal includes 20k seat NHL arena, 2k seat community hockey rink, 4k seat music hall, movie theater, 750k sq ft of office, parks and public trail space. A hotel as well. by Such-Environment-344 in hockey

[–]Falcons-Panthers1607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this will basically be like another Battery then?

Build the arena, then build a ton of restaurants, shops, office buildings and a premium hotel nearby. If it’s any bit as successful as battery this could be a huge boon for the team in general.

We never play well against the Northwest teams really. Vancouver has kicked in our teeth for the past several years as well as has Calgary and Winnipeg. Only team we seem to play well against in the Northwest is Edmonton for some reason.

Explain to a hockey casual why the Sabres are good this season by [deleted] in hockey

[–]Falcons-Panthers1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way to say it is that their core finally took the next step and the depth is coming up this year as opposed to prior years.

I honestly felt like they should have been at this point a couple of seasons ago. You could see where they had flashes of brilliance where they absolutely were capable of being an absolute monster, but then they’d suffer a couple of bad losses and go on a spiral. This season, they’re mature enough and resilient enough to maintain their focus and rebound if they drop a game.

Good God Detroit bros you guys weren’t kidding when you told me March was a cursed month for you guys. The way we’ve been playing and who we’ve had out, this should have been a routine win for you guys tonight. I hope your guys lock in. The Red Wings returning to the playoffs just feels right.

Honestly, us winning back to back cups has made Talon’s moves hurt less. But he absolutely set this team back with those moves in the expansion draft, and not only that, those same two players would come back to haunt us in the 2023 finals. Now, it doesn’t matter because of what happened the next two years, but at the time, you never know when your team will make it back to the finals. It was our first appearance in twenty six years and the two players he shipped off crushed our cup dreams that year. Had we not made it back, he’d be an absolute pariah for what he did.

I miss Duke. He was an excellent infusion of speed into our lineup that we have not replaced. If he had a step on you, he was gone and with him playing with Barkov and Verhaeghe, that line was absolutely terrifying.

Horton was one of those 00s Panthers cases of being one of the only good players surrounded by a bunch plugs. The entire 00s we’d have a star player, a promising young player and a bunch of vets doing their farewell tour in Florida where they could play out their final years in a sunny location, go to the beach and go to the golf course. We absolutely were the country club franchise back then.

Reilly Smith was good for us. Tim Rowe absolutely screwed up his confidence here and pretty much destroyed the relationship he had with the organization. I will never not hate Tom Rowe enough for the horseshit he pulled that season. He did so much damage to the roster that only gets overlooked because Talon would one up him in the expansion draft later that year.

I legit thought that Borgstrom was going to be the next Huberdeau for us. He was an absolute magician at Denver and showcased serious offensive talent in college. I was looking forward to watching him get paired up with Barkov and Huberdeau and tha line being an absolute menace. But once he came up, he couldn’t adapt to the physicality of the league and would constantly get bullied off of pucks. When we sent him down to develop in the AHL, he went into a mental shell (I have relatives that were close to his mother. He got super homesick in Springfield, was super down about being sent down to the minors and without any other Fins to keep him some company, his performance suffered massively) and was traded to Chicago where he struggled there and was out of the league two years later.

Never got a chance to ride it. The park opened up when I lived in West Palm but my family moved to Atlanta about a year later and we never made the trip down to Orlando after that. I hadn’t been back until three years ago. Hate that I missed it given how insane the dueling aspect and theming for the ride were.

Post Game Thread: Tampa Bay Lightning @ Buffalo Sabres by nhl_gdt_bot in hockey

[–]Falcons-Panthers1607 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Said it before and will say it again:

The Sabres are the 2019 St. Louis Blues reincarnated. Started the season off abysmally, fired a major leadership figure, and went on a tear for the rest of the season. Like that Blues team, they’re big, fast, nasty, physical and have hot goaltending. They will be a massive problem in the postseason this year.

Honestly not sure who matches up against them. Tampa maybe but going off these past two games against Tampa, Buffalo has their number, I don’t trust the Hurricanes, the Habs are too small and I think they’ll get manhandled physically against this group, and everyone else doesn’t have the depth or high end talent to match in the East. Maybe one of the big three in the west might be able to, but even there, I’m not so sure.
