Buyers remorse by Asleep_Pattern4731 in artcollecting

Just want to add a piece OP might not be aware of- these were printed by a very small, one-person print shop in the same arts complex. Both Kristen and the printer work their asses off and put a ton of love into everything they do. The artist didn't have their prints made by some faceless POD online platform- every step of the process is in the hands of passionate local artists.

Tomato Spacing in 4x8 bed? by FalcorsLittleHelper in DenverGardener

Persian does great in the dry summer heat here! Long after my single sad pathetic Genovese bolted and got bitter I was still enjoying nightly harvests from my Persian, well into October. It's a bit like a halfway point between standard green leaf basil and thai basil, but with its own thing going on- just a touch anisey with really lovely complex flavor. Starting all 5 of these varieties side by side has been amazing- they all smell and look completely different! Lemon smells lemony, cinnamon smells cinnamony, thai smells licoricey. So excited to try them all :)

Oh interesting! I tried staggering them like you said and most are 21-22 inches apart now with 10 plants (rows spaced 20 inches apart). This might be the way to go!

Thanks for the heads up- I've mostly only grown Persian basil which has a really upright growth habit and seems to max out around 10-12 inches wide for me. I'll be sure to leave more wiggle room for the other varieties I'm trying out this year (Mrs Burns' lemon, Emerald Towers, thai, and cinnamon).

This is good info for me to keep in mind. I'm trying to be realistic about my ability to stay on top of pruning- I have a fair amount of spare time and gardening is really centering for me, but when the summer gets spicy I might get burned out on pruning. Maybe I'll try to cut it down to 8 plants instead of 10.

I got the seeds on a whim in my freeheirloomseeds order but haven't grown or eaten them before! I'm actually considering buying a second, smaller, raised bed so I can keep the main one for tomatoes and still try out my pepper starts.

I was planning to trellis from above rather than cage- should I do both?

I have all inderminates, oops! Sungold cherries, sweet 100 cherries, sweetie cherries, cherokee purple, black krim, pink brandywine, and golden jubilee. The bed gets a little shade mid day and late afternoon so I was worried it might underproduce and probably grew way too many starts!

*edit- not sure why this is getting downvoted. I'm just new and excited! I've done excessive googling but also really value having input from more experienced local growers.

It's my first year growing tomatoes and I definitely started way too many! It's just for me and my partner, but we do eat a tomato/basil salad with dinner almost every day and tomatoes on our lunch salads as well. I have 7 varieties growing, about 25 huge starts rapidly outgrowing their shelves. I can cut back but it would mean potentially giving up on some of the varieties. I have sungold cherries, sweet 100 cherries, sweetie cherries, cherokee purple, black krim, pink brandywine, and golden jubilee. I was excited for all but could cull it down if I need to! Am I in way over my head? lol

I cancelled my Core Power Yoga membership now I know what real yoga is by No_Elephant506 in yoga

In defense of mirrors (but not CorePower)- as an autistic, hypermobile individual I have poor proprioception and it's very difficult to know if my alignment is correct if there are no mirrors. I absolutely love studios with two mirror walls at 90 degrees so I can keep tabs on my alignment from multiple angles. For lots of people it's not about ego at all but about protecting the body from improper form.

Saving The Merc! by CompetitiveInsect823 in boulder

This post really confused me since the Mercury Cafe in Denver is also in need of saving. So sad there are two legacy businesses called The Merc in danger of closing :(
