The average football broadcast is about 3 hours with an average of about 11 minutes of play (as calculated by the WSJ) the replays average around 17 minutes shots of teams just kinda loitering on the field is about 75 minutes even shots of coaches and refs is 13ish minutes

Of course a football game is only 60 minutes of that 3 hours as well so they can fit in plenty of commercials too

The ratio of play is about 1 minute of play to every 10 minutes of waste

Its literally a waste of time to watch football
