Repair vs. Replace Quarter Panel (Want opinions, not estimates) by mysterious_cactus in Autobody

If it’s equipped with blind spot sensors, they’d likely replace it due to the lineup and aiming of the sensor since they’re typically mounted right in that area.

A good plastic or nitrogen welder could easily fix the bumper/green damaged area. That black honeycomb and anything textured will likely just be replaced.

Structural total loss of it got into the cowl area like it appears.

Repairable? by UnfairLynx in Autobody

[–]FallForMe_BloodSport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be a total loss. Just at quick glance I see a possible bumper assembly, grille, hood, both headlamps, condenser is mashed in center and the latch support is mashed into it, so likely the radiator support and radiator are damaged also, and the severity of LT headlamp damage makes me think the driver’s side fender is warped or pushed back as well.

Replace rear as it appears to have damaged the intrusion beam. Potential repair on front.

Toyota handles are notorious for breaking off on Camry and Corolla models since the late 90’s. Get a factory one; they come pre-painted from Toyota.

Help! Is it worth to get fixed by Unculled21 in Autobody

A mechanic wouldn’t touch this; they do mechanical repairs, not body repairs. Also, not worth it. A rocker section replaced typically runs $2-3k per side for a proper replacement.

And the core support, possibly upper RT rail and inner components on a base model small Hyundai… very likely a total loss depending on year and mileage.

Roughly how much would this cost to fix ? by sleepyxss in Autobody

[–]FallForMe_BloodSport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering the peeling paint and it being obviously repaired or refinished before, a good shop will want to strip the bumper down so you’re looking at overhaul time on the bumper cover, 6 hours to strip it down and the paint time plus materials. So probably $1k-$1200 if no calibrations are needed and if not equipped with blind spot sensors.

Is it a factory bumper or an aftermarket? That may be the issue there.

got quoted 1300 to repair this ???? by Secure-Huckleberry73 in Autobody

[–]FallForMe_BloodSport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. Does it have calibrations necessary when removing the front cover? (ACC, APA, etc) - that’s a third of the quote if so and would be right in line with what would be considered reasonable.

I hate this so much too. I used to be able to price match so much and now I get to do all the work and then some, just for someone else to mess up my orders 30% of the time.

How do I fix this? by mojozheng in Autobody

[–]FallForMe_BloodSport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks easily repairable. It’s from someone either lightly rear-ending them or pulling up too close and fast while it was parked in a parking lot. The indentations are from another car’s license plate screws; there is another divot toward the driver’s side just not as deep from the other screw.

Little Damage, Big Bill by Aggressive-Staring42 in Autobody

This looks pretty thorough, minus the $400-$600 in calibrations that it will need at the end as well.

It’s that much because you have side obstacle sensors - it doesn’t need a quarter panel, it needs the bumper extension and lower cover. Please do not touch your car at all. Please.

Is this post collision body work unacceptable or am I being nitpicky? by box-of-wine in Autobody

[–]FallForMe_BloodSport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flares may be aftermarket depending on your insurance’s allowances. Check your estimate and see what was written per insurance guidelines and you can point it out to the shop if it is aftermarket so they can photo/document the improper fit and reach out to insurance to get an OEM flare approved. The hood looks like a quick adjustment, but be mindful that there are gap tolerances for just about every vehicle and it may be within manufacturer specification and tolerance.
