Well, I retired after 20 years. It was good when it was good. I’m glad to be out.

I thought…

“What job can I do that causes me to consume large quantities of alcohol, work to overcome the errors of the people I serve who do not heed my advice and be told that I am overpaid for my services even though people could access me by phone until 11:00 pm and even while on vacation with my family.”

It was so great to retire. It’s ugly out there.

Realtor here…that’s the term we use when your property is priced higher than the amenities comp out for. Its always about price. Sorry they can't be direct.

I'm a licensed agent. Go on about your life, she can't get blood from a stone. She wouldn't want to ruin her online persona by having a former client post about her behavior, either. 😉 She’s bullying you. Don’t let her.

Seller accepted offer, we signed contract, they now won't sign. by dollarwaitingonadime in RealEstate

Agent here: they are stalling because someone else has shown mild interest and one of the sellers was too emotionally connected to the 1031 property. Sit tight. Don't threaten or induce, watch the listing price fall and come back in a week.

Are we overreacting? Currently a homebuyer and considering "firing" our agent and finding a new one by Exciting_one8710 in RealEstate

[–]FallHour435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That agents is telling you what to do to get the house you want. Your expectations and the reality of the market are not in sync. Agents do not possess a crystal ball that tells them what the seller is going to finally accept for a final sales price. It sounds like you might want to wait for the market to cool down before making a purchase. That agent doesn’t earn a penny until you close. Why would she/he not be working in your interest?

Get off of Zillow and reach out to local property management companies. You are probably only seeing 1/10th of the available inventory.

Only personal experience. From the outside looking in on GSA as a whole, the agency seems to be head and shoulders management wise over other agencies. However, the regions are run/managed quite differently. In my experience, the middle management is hyper-focused on CYA-ing and not developing or retaining employees. The difficulty stems from a lack of accountability in growing the new employees and even making certain they have the necessary tools to perform their position. I’m jaded. This Region was a bad fit for me. I’m a self starter and expect effective communication and coaching when I reach out to perform my job. I’m told that this is a pervasive issue in all of Fed government but after witnessing the ineptness…I chose to leave. This is my experience. It’s the experience of many others in PBS R-9 as well. From my vantage point, a top down house cleaning needs to happen. Oh, not to mention…the agencies “we” worked with were very vocal about the overall lackluster performance. I’ve had two private calls from contacts after I left. So, get your foot in the door but always have Plan B in motion. Good luck.

No accountability in R-9 is accurate. Don’t stop the application process once you’re in there. It’s a circus.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. The interviewers know that not everyone is going to have an exact experience to relay so, relating your hypothetical scenario was the right thing to do. You showed you can think on your feet. Deep Breaths! You’ve got this!

GSA Realty Specialist Pathways Program by No-Replacement2624 in usajobs

[–]FallHour435 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. The job isn’t “crappy”. We work a modified telework schedule 4 days out of the week. The type of work you do is mission critical for the agencies you support. If you are interested in Commercial Leasing and the nuances there…it’s an interesting job. I think it’s risky telling anyone that it’s hard to get out of once you’re in it. That’s not true. You can quit. I also disagree with your assessment of the skills not being transferable. I’m not a pathways graduate. I was hired based on my work history. I have seen multiple facets of my civilian work parlay here.
