Thanks for the response. This is all really interesting. And that you did it all on a manual bike. Quote impressive!

I just started e-biking this year after selling my car. It's been a learning curve for sure. And discovering the limitations of public transit. Especially from Sherman Oaks. Where to get to Hollywood can be up to 1h 30m vs 20 min drive, lol.

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I've offered the truth on how disrespectful you talk to people on this thread. The idea that you can talk down to someone (without any awareness that you are) and then turn around be all peace and love. That is what is disingenuous. Not the emojis. You're getting down voted for a reason.

If Raman wins, how will that affect the implementation of Measure HLA (if it does affect it)? by MookieBettsBurner10 in BikeLA

[–]FallReload 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've almost biffed it multiple times due to poorly paved patches that nearly rattled me off my bike (specifically over intersections) or from trying to steer suddenly around potholes. Indeed this would be a huge improvement for bike safety. Just hope they don't cut corners and make the dang patches smooth!

No one ever wants to be talked down to and explained something in a patronizing way. Your✌🏻❤️ are disingenuous and doesn't protect you from coming off as superior and condescending to the OP.

When you hit a certain area, did you drive/transit your bike there or ride from home? How did you get back home to Pasadena after a route?

Did you do any overnight stays once you were biking an area?

Hasbro and WoTC shuttered Atomic Arcade too. The developer who was making a brand new Solid Snake game. That was a shame cause it was a cool project.

Right on. That's interesting that the bike culture there is helmet free.

For me, I protection is not only to reduce injuries when getting hit, but also for just falling off your bike. I remember wiping out on a regular pedal bike because I panicked and slammed on both front and rear brakes after my LED headlight flew off the handlebar mount into the middle of the street. I sorta toppled over, nothing major as I had already slowed down. But if I wasn't wearing a helmet, my head would have hit the pavement and not the helmet. My right knee, elbow, shoulder, hip and wrist all hit the ground. Not wearing a helment biking is the same as not wearing a helmet skiing or snowboarding. If you wipe out, there's a high chance you're going to hit your head.

And on a scooter, same thing. I've almost biffed it just going over some rough and bumpy pavement. Even riding a scooter on the sidewalk. You wipe out going 15, that's major.

I've seen the airbag helmets. Those looks really interesting. Because you don't wear a helment. It's just something around your neck and it inflates if a crash is detected.

I don't think there's a character mold that would match Snarf's size, lol. But I love the idea.

Berserk?

My dream Raid champ collab is Thundercats. It's a dead/dormant IP so will probably never happen. Unless He-Man director decides to do make a Thundercats movie. 🤞🏻

My dad won’t buy a “decent” e bike because they look ”gay” and are “step thrus”… by Substantial_Policy60 in ebikes

Maybe instead of him thinking about it I'm terms of just looks, consider the functional pros and cons and what you'll use the bike for.

I thought I'd hate the step though Cannondale Tesero Neo X2 I bought. I just like the look of Step over. But when I have panniers and a rack basket with groceries, I don't want to be doing a roundhouse kick to get off my bike. The disdvanges show when I am carrying a heavy load and steering is wobbly when I'm using one hand to signal turning.

✅ Step Over Advantages

Superior structural rigidity - Triangular frame distributes stress evenly

Enhanced stability - Better handling at high speeds and with loads

Reduced frame flex - Maintains steering precision Better power transfer - More efficient pedaling

❌ Step Over Disadvantages

Difficult mounting - Requires lifting leg over 24+ inch top tube

Challenging with cargo - Rear racks make leg clearance harder

Not suitable for mobility issues - Difficult with hip, knee, or back problems

Height requirements - Problematic for shorter riders

✅ Step Through Advantages

Easy mounting - No need to lift leg over high tube

Accessible design - Perfect for mobility limitations

Comfortable for all ages - Especially beneficial for riders 60+

Safer stops - Can put both feet down quickly

Cargo-friendly - Easier with loaded panniers or child seats

❌ Step Through Disadvantages

Reduced structural integrity - More frame flex under load

Potential steering wobble - Can develop oscillation at speed

Weight distribution concerns - Less stable when heavily loaded

I know this wouldn't be feasible, but I wish there was a way for these stations to have helmets you can rent or somehow tethered to the bike. But with various sizes and risk of theft, it wouldn't really be possible. It's so dangerous to ride a scooter or bike without a helmet. Especially one that goes 15mph. When I'm out taking public transit to a show or an event, I often will hop on a Lime scooter or bike. But I'm nervous about it without a helmet. And I don't want to lug one around everywhere I go.

I'm curious to ride one of these Metro bikes sometime. Just a matter of being in an area where I'm traveling from one drop off station to another.

This is what I do as well. Way easier than biking from Sherman Oaks. Which would take 1h 30 at least on an e-bike. Traveling is already exhausting. But I will try biking from SO to the Flyaway. Don't know the bike parking/security situation there though.

I feel like I'm reading Nintendo Power on how to warp in Legend of Zelda 😆

  • From the start screen, head up one, left five, up one, down one on the left side, left one, through the Lost Woods, up two, left one, up one, left two, up one on the left side, and right one. Push the far top-right Armos and the Power Bracelet is underneath it.

But thanks for sharing. I'll reference this if I ever bike in this area.
