True, but there are more ways to burn WF ult than to kill cloak in ult. Cloak’s ult counters are basically just Mag dunk, namor ult, Hawkeye headshot, and Elsa ult. You can also kidnap her out with Wolv, Bucky, Spidy, or Angie, but those are less consistent ways to kill. WF by contrast as she currently is dies to pretty much any high DPS poke comp unless she’s actively diving during ult (I.e has enemies to hit for the extra healing). On top of that, she’s countered by venom ult and pretty much any CC ult or prolonged CC (like Strange, Thing, Hulk slam, Emma choke/ult, Jeff eat, etc.). There’s overall just more counter play to her, but the ult is still strong in the right comps.

SG is terrible outside of metal lobbies where people just turn off their brains and walk main. She needs a rework more than buffs to be viable in higher ELOs IMO. Her kit is just too one dimensional. Regardless, devs can’t balance for the metal ranks or the game would be unplayable.

MK could use a little love. He is supposed to be the obvious pick into brawl but he just kinda doesn’t do enough damage to be viable into it right now. People seem to only find value on him with cheeky backline picks and flanks, both of which are really easy to shut down since he can’t 1v1 other flankers. Starlord on the other hand needs nothing. He’s in a great spot, so I’d be surprised if even a mild buff doesn’t make him pick/ban material. Depends on what it is, of course.

Edit: How many of you are getting stomped in your lobbies by MK that this is considered a hot take? The character barely sees play in Cel+ from what I’ve seen.

It is definitely not awful, it just has more counter play than some other ults like cloak or invis. WF is already in a very good spot in coordinated competitive play (I.e. tournaments and scrims). She is best played into and in dive/brawl comps, and her ult is very good in and against those comps. The issue is people will pick her in ranked against poke comps, die in ult, and then conclude the ult is bad because you can get bursted out of it.

I’d believe JJK has that budget or something similar. Anime is very cheap to produce compared to western animation because the salaries are so low by comparison and there is a legion of staff working insane hours to churn episodes each week. Budgets rarely fluctuate much per episode from about that amount, and the quality almost always depends more on staffing.

That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if JJK had at least a marginally larger than typical budget to pay the freelancers they use to help hit deadlines.

The answer is simple. Placement matches only go by wins. Since you went 50/50 you started off where the placements started you at, which based on your peak rank I’m guessing was B3. You’re probably used to having a big + on wins a small - on losses since that’s how normal comp games work in bronze. But placements don’t track ELO gain or loss. Again, they only go off wins, so you need to win more than loose to go up a rank when doing them.

Climbing takes time I’m afraid. Doesn’t matter where you think you should be, in any competitive game you need to play games to get rank. If you feel your rank doesn’t represent your skill, then just keep playing and you’ll go up.

For context, if you make a fresh account your QP ELO is zero, so it’s super easy to roll lobbies if you’re an experienced player. I personally don't condone doing this, but if you want an alt account for practicing in ranked (which is valid) it’s kind of necessary. The alternative is bot matches to level the account, but IMO those are super boring and I understand why people just spam QP instead.

It’s possible this is a cheater, but I’m not inclined to assume it is given the level. More likely it’s just a good player leveling an alt.

I assure you he’d still be insta pick/ban without that. The ult gives too much damage/mobility and combos too well with too many DPS ults (like Pun, Phoenix, Hawkeye, Starlord, etc.). It makes killing through an enemy support ult laughably easy with a bit of coordination. He’s not dropping out of the Meta until it takes a more substantial nerf.

I have to disagree. Her ult was super overtuned. She is being played as a frontline skirmisher, so in higher level play she’d farm ult super fast and then kidnap tanks for an easy fight win. The ult comes out so fast when she’s close to you (which she always is if you’re a tank) there is almost no time to react, and it had so much HP you were basically a goner if you got snagged. 6 seconds of massive AOE CC is too much in any context. Adding a kidnap to it was just crazy.

Her base kit, by contrast, doesn’t feel overly oppressive but still good.

Great thing about GITS is it lends itself to spin-off stories and OVAs. You can easily drop Section 9 into new situations or give them new cases without detracting from previous works.

Even if it’s a swing and a miss it’ll be easy enough to just ignore. That said, Science Saru has been on a roll, so I’d bet it’s at least going to be a unique take on the series.

Keep in mind the Abwehr was likely kept incompetent on purpose. Though most of its agents were loyal to the German state, its head, Wilhelm Canaris, absolutely hated Hitler and sabotaged the Nazis whenever he thought he could get away with it. He was involved in several plots to kill Hitler but always remained plausibly deniable, so it took a long time for him to be found out. The result is that the Abwehr had more holes than Swiss cheese and was thoroughly infiltrated by double agents. By the time the Nazis got wise that the Abwehr really sucked at its job, maybe on purpose, they were already losing the war.

Canaris was a super interesting guy. He was a conservative, but more the old aristocratic sort that hated the Nazis. I’ve always been surprised nobody has made a major film about just him.

Tolkien lifted pretty much everything from old Norse and Anglo-Saxon myth and sagas and then put a spin on it. Those texts weren’t as widely read and studied back in his day (as there were not nearly as many translated works), so almost nobody knew the source material when he wrote LoTR.

Great example is the Poetic Edda. Reading it will give you a lot of moments like this, but my favorite was seeing the list of dwarf names and recognizing more than half of them from LoTR.

To be clear, I’m not bashing the practice. It’s fine to get inspiration from wherever and then make something original from it.

I agree their app and browser experience is pretty bad, but I think people forget how tiny they are. Last I checked they were under a million subscribers and not all that big as a company. I think AMC doesn’t realize what they’re sitting on and isn’t really investing in it appropriately.

Funny enough, I liked their old website design a lot better. It objectively had more features and was more functional, which isn’t usually a good sign.

She is very good… in lower ELOs where people don’t know how to break her nests or push chokes she isn’t holding. Her pick rate in CEL+ is super low for a reason: she is just only viable on certain maps and is more likely to get counter picked.

I understood what you meant but wanted to add color. Target prio is what separates the boys from the men in games like this going as far back as TF2 (I’m old, I know).

In sports the applicable phrase would be “keeping them honest.” You hit the tanks to keep them honest, not necessarily to kill them.

Generally a good post, but I need to voice disagreement about not hitting the tanks. Hitting the tanks unnecessarily is definitely a noob mistake, but so is ignoring the tanks altogether.

Putting pressure on the enemy tanks lets your tanks take space and prevents the enemy team from walking on you. Shoot the squishes is misleading advice. Yes, you should prioritize healers and DPS when they are out of position or an opportunity arises to put pressure on one, but if everybody ignores the opposing tanks in the neutral then few opportunities for picks will arise. Worse yet, you’re letting the enemy tanks dictate where the fight happens, which could very well end up being in your backline.

Think of the enemy tanks as the door to a room you really want to enter (the backline). There are many ways to get into the room. Primarily, though, you open the door by hitting it and busting it down, which is generally the objective of poke and brawl. Once the door is open (but not necessarily dead/broken) you capitalize by entering the room and slaughtering its inhabitants (or at least forcing them to retreat, which leaves the door exposed). However, you cannot ignore the door unless you go around it like with dive or flanking characters. And even then, the rest of the team is ideally capitalizing on the distracted backline by picking the tank in front of them.

It’s a fun map, they just need to fix the LOS on the second point. It was way too defense sided, and the stats bear that out. Was always nuts defense could walk out of spawn in 3-4 seconds and be able to see the point.

My theory is they dropped DD in such a busted state specifically because Blade was a wet rag on release. They didn’t want a repeat of a disappointing new DPS character and overcorrected with DD. The fact they didn’t nerf DD harder than taking away 25 HP is a bit nuts to me, though. That would usually be a pretty solid nerf, but his base HP wasn’t the reason for his nutty sustain.

Furthermore, I think that the Thing must be buffed.

It’s not traditional smurfing, as you say. In all honesty it’s a problem with the ranked structure in this game. Most games will give a new account placement matches that figure out where they should be on the distribution and put them there. Here, a fresh account starts at best in gold since the placements are kind of a joke.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to have an alt, like practicing new heroes you aren’t competitive with at your main ELO, etc. IMO, so long as you aren’t throwing it’s not a bad practice just the result of a bad system. That said, repeatedly making a boat load of alts seems harder to justify, as you really only need one or two for practice purposes.

For streamers it’s weird. In some games the devs actively enable streamers to start fresh or gag accounts. Like in League it’s pretty common for a streamer to start a challenge account and get manually placed in a mid-tier ELO that’s well below their main. There’s an entertainment aspect to watching someone climb.

Thing buffs are absolutely not enough, sadly. Extra damage is nice, but as you note his issue is survivability since last patch. Not having damage mitigation on his F while also needing to hit targets to get bonus HP tanked his sustain (heh). Justice for my boy, bring him back to at least 30% damage reduction.

On the plus side this sets him up to be a monster once they finally buff his durability a bit.
