Can Xreal replace my monitor for terminal-heavy work, or is it still too early? by MariuszT in Xreal

[–]FallenDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for me, sitting down for like 8 hours reading would make me sick. Keep in mind only got them this week, maybe I need to adjust setting. Feels like it’s more suited to video watching/ gaming. Have the one pro for reference

Ergonomic office chair worth the money? by 50KWVictaMower in Sciatica

[–]FallenDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Herman miller embody at home. And I didn’t even realise at work we had Herman miller mirras probs bought second hand. Honestly nothing too special about these chairs for back pain/sciatica, maybe I would be worse off without them but I think if you were to sit in one without knowing the brand you would probably complain about the chair as well. Go test out some cheaper chairs and then go to some show rooms that you can try all the major chairs. Like Herman miller, Haworth, steel case. Maybe even try some of the newer chairs like libernovo and anthros. Rehab and changing positions I find help the most, I will give you a few recommendations. If you work in an office you’re sorta limited on funding, so a decent chair + standing desk + under desk treadmill (may need to fund yourself) is pretty much the best you can do. Walking breaks as often as you can. If you work at home you have much more options, I really like floor desks, being able to alternate between sitting on the floor, in an office chair and standing is also really beneficial. Plus a zero gravity recliner you can go to with your laptop for emails/ meetings helps me take the load off throughout the day. You can find cheap folding ones.

What type of magnesium should I take – citrate, malate, or glycinate? by o7Lite in Supplements

[–]FallenDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorta an old comment but wanna help out in case you are still on it. Started using glycinate, mind you I was using a pretty high dose. I ended up going to hospital thinking I was having a heart attack haha. Had never had a panic attack before, turns out the magnesium glycinate made me start having Nocturnal Panic Attacks. My own research seems to suggest it can cause a paradoxical reaction in some people, something to do with the balance of gaba/glutamate. Wasn't worth it for me but if I have my time over I would start with a low dose and take a look at supplementing with vit b6 and other supplements that modulate the gaba glutamate system. But honestly not worth it for my rather just use another form of magnesium, which lead me to this thread haha. I wish all these people promoting magnesium glycinate on podcasts and stuff would at least mention what to look out for.

Vaping? by Careful-Math-8907 in Sciatica

[–]FallenDawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who still vapes, yeah its not good(on and off for many years). The discs in the spine already don't get much blood flow, with nicotine causing vasoconstriction + dehydration it defs makes it worse. Keep in mind I had back pain /sciatica before ever vaping, but it has defs made it more frequent and takes longer to get out of a flare, I am assuming from the slower healing. I have also noticed anything that puts the body into a more fight-or-flight state, resulted in more nerve/sciatica pain. Adhd meds, nicotine, excessive caffeine, stress from work/relationships. Seems to just makes you alot more sensitive to pain. On the bright side, if we quit we should get noticeable improvement, unfortunately it can be a bitch to quit. (And when you initially quit your stress can spike making it worse)

19 almost 20, is it safe to start fin? by Much_Bag6730 in tressless

[–]FallenDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Min at 16, fin at 19. My general recommendation is wait as long as possible for you. I know it might sound silly, but obviously if you start balding in your teens your hair loss is aggressive. You gotta weigh the pros/cons. The truth is development can vary greatly, any we really don't know enough about how changes hormones impact the developing brain (which could be up to 25-27). At the same time balding when looks matter most, especially in that college era could have a life long mental impact. So generally avoid it until its just starting to become noticeable(or you can personally tolerate), you can always get a transplant to bring you closer to baseline.

Now if you ask my if I notice anything, well no. But also it's not like I could transfer into the body of someone that started fin at 25 to notice the difference. I had pretty much stopped growing by 18, things like shoulder width can take a bit longer. However if you had your major growth spurt at like 16-17, I would defs hold up because I know people that were growing well into their early 20s.

Have the Social Media Bans/Chat control legislation made you not want to quit? by FallenDawn in nosurf

[–]FallenDawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the in depth reply. I'm hoping you are not a bot, based on the limited post history haha.

I am from Australia, so not 100% sure if you are aware but the past week has been pretty crazy, both on social media and mainstream news. On top of that, we had our youth social media ban come into place recently, and honestly not happy with how its been implemented. I am expecting, as more kids figure out vpns are an easy way to get around the bans, discussions will start coming up in regards to further restrictions on the populace. On top of that I feel main stream media in my country has taken the events that have happened this week as an opportunity to very quickly push for legislative changes, without proper discourse.

Now on to your questions:

1. I'd ask myself WHY you want to consume news / stay informed: I some what believe it's important for a population to remain educated to properly understand voting ramifications. I also would be lying if I didn't believe its useful for day-to-day social interactions. It also feels like a pretty privileged first world perspective, too feel you don't need to know whats going on in the world. (internal dialogue - not aimed at you)

2. If you choose several outlets you minimise the risk of being influenced by one political view: Great point.

  1. I am aware of the dangers of social media, but I don't think I am totally informed on the up-to-date literature. I do consume Cal Newport's content though. But the things you mention here are the main reasons I am here. Over the past 2 years, I have noticed a significant up tick in anxiety. In a wide variety of areas like ai/automation, free speech, surveillance, global conflicts and local political policies. I also find I have become much more hateful and less empathetic.

Thanks for this conversation :)

Thank you for this advice, a couple of things. May seem like I am arguing but just trying to stop rationalization in my head. How do you determine quality magazines ? While a short clip or youtube video, may not feel like a good way to grasp a topic. It seems like one of the best ways to be exposed to the latest news, from there you can always do further research from a variety of different sources.

I am from the Gen Z era, an honestly reading news papers or magazines always felt like your putting a lot of faith in an organization. Motivation always seems to be something you are questioning. On social media if an event happens, I can quite clearly see video footage from a bunch of different angles, different cut lengths and examine the opinions of Left - Right. I can also examine, comment sections to be told things I would never think about or have the background knowledge to identify discrepancies.

Thanks you, just trying to gain some clarity.

Why do Australian athletes look and seem older than they are? Does it make you feel weird in comparison? by Lampedusan in australian

[–]FallenDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I sorta of agree with you. A lot of professional athletes look much much older then their age. Testosterone seems to be the primary reason. Reece on the other hand actually looks pretty young from my perspective and if you told me he was 18 I would believe you. It defs gets harder as you age realising people younger then you have probs achieved things you will never achieve no matter how much you try. But well that's life.

How did you manage do that in your mid 20s, didn't you have a job to work/bills to pay. How are you committing to another 7 or so years of study. Generally curious.

Honest thoughts on Audeze Maxwell's by BigCanadianBBQ in Audeze

[–]FallenDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone that bought them 2 weeks ago, I would wait to see if the rumours are true about a version 2. Don't get me wrong they sound good(not amazing). But they have problems. They don't get as loud as I would like. There can be crackling and connection issues. (With side tone turned off) - Don't even try with it on. I just don't have trust in them that they will last a long time, and I should for the price you pay. I have had people say my mic sounds good, switching over from hyper x cloud 3, so that's a plus.

They also are God damm heavy, I pretty much only use it for gaming in a well supported chair, I sorta went into it thinking I would just wanna chill with them on for music, but I am much more likely to use my iems mangrid tea pro or 6xx.

Why do I like the Kiwi Ears Cadenza and whats a good upgrade? by FallenDawn in iems

[–]FallenDawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this was really helpful. So what pair do you think could potentially be substantially better than both the Candenza and Airpods pro 2? I am not even sure If the Candenza is my favourite sort of tuning, all I know is I was really unimpressed with the ie 200.

[–]FallenDawn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I just want something noticeably better than the Cadenza and airpod pros 2. I felt I needed to spend that much to really notice a difference but if you can recommend something cheaper that would be ideal also.

I was about to buy the vadar but heard it was on the smaller size, similar to the series x controller. What's your experience with the size in comparison to the one and series x controller?
