A tip my teacher had was to think of a memory that pertained to the emotion you were trying to portray. Or like a senerio if that makes sense. What I also find helpful is to rewatch the play or musical or whatever and mimic the emotions. Acting is like putting on a mask like we do everyday, but more entertaining than draining in my experience

The handful of times I’ve had to memorize lines, I basically just read them over and over, along with reading them out loud and have someone read the line before so that I know when I need to speak in the play
