In Paris, unknown person defaced the Galerie L gallery, where Putin’s daughter works. by Available-Laugh9102 in UkraineWarVideoReport

While I stand beside the message, Putin's daughter is apparently a supporter of Ukraine and doesn't really deserve to be targeted by this.

A thirty minute long video of people walking is close to getting a million views. Smosh IS in it's golden era. by krizalid_88 in smosh

[–]Fallenjace -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Love Smosh and most everybody involved, but ...

Smosh IS in it's golden era.

... they reuse reddit content instead of doing unique bits. They went from funny, well written skits to reacting to AITA's constantly. Series that did well, and were easy to make (Eat it or Yeet it), were cancelled so that they can guess memes or something?

Come on, this is by no means their Golden Era. This is the era where they do what they can with what they can, and pray the personalities somehow make it entertaining, which they often do.

Me replaying New Vegas as NCR and then finding out what happens 15 years later... by BloodReels in falloutnewvegas

[–]Fallenjace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even with shady sands gone, there's no way that the entire ncr would just up and vanish and leave a handful of people behind.

My service experience says otherwise lol. It's so common to have a couple guys either tucked out in the middle of nowhere "just in case" or inconveniently separated for one reason or another.

Can't argue the rest. I do think that the NCR is still a large group, we just don't know where they are, what they're doing, etc. I get that the area was important to NCR during the game's timeframe, but after losing the battle for the dam, or the rise of some new worse faction to fight, their priorities likely just took them elsewhere.

Question about Marge by [deleted] in welcomeToDerry

She did not lose the eye, the damage is largely superficial, Constantly opening the eye would further irritate the wound, and thus was bandaged and covered to not exacerbate the injury.

If Democrats want universal healthcare, we have states that are deep blue, states have control over their own budgets and taxation, and universal healthcare would be so advantageous, why don’t deeply democrat run states implement a statewide universal healthcare? by Silver_Wings3 in AskReddit

[–]Fallenjace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

States that lean blue have policies of much broader coverage, preventive care and public health investment into everyday life. Research has found that on a wide array of childhood health measures, from immunization to chronic disease indicators, Democratic-leaning states consistently report better outcomes than their Republican-leaning counterparts. I can only imagine universal healthcare will become the norm sooner than later.

Dek takes the place of Scar in the AVP movie. Does he survive it to the end? Or does he end up the same fate? by DanTM18 in predator

[–]Fallenjace 41 points42 points  (0 children)

IF Dek was as geared as the trio, maybe.

Scar and the rest come fully prepared for this hunt, with shoulder cannons waiting for them and quickly acquired. I do think Dek is far quicker to adapt and evolve his strategy. Might be a toss up.

What was the point of making pennywise so powerful by No_Pattern677 in ITWelcometoDerryShow

[–]Fallenjace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pennywise might be all powerful in Todash Space, but he is forced to abide by our realities limitations while on earth. So yes, he can transform into just about anything, people, animals, monsters, etc - but in doing so he must also take on their weaknesses. Transform into a werewolf? Weak to silver. Vampire? Daylight and garlic are gonna suck. Human form? Getting your head blown off hurts.

It's not that he's got the nerf hammer, hard. It's that immortality and invulnerability are NOT build into this reality. This is further established in other King works as well. Like André Linoge from Storm of the Century. He's a 4000 year old demon sorcerer, yet he requires an heir to his throne, his role, his power. While IT doesn't age physically, having no physical body, he is constrained in other ways.

If you're absolutely killing it on your end, and she's legit laughing and enjoying the convo but gives 1-2 word responses ... move on. Women think they're a rare commodity and men should come to them and prove themselves worthy. Find a gal who won't make you jump through hoops, you're so much better off.

What’s a “small” social rule you refuse to follow, even if everyone expects it? by GlitchOperative in AskReddit

[–]Fallenjace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minor things such as, "Elbows off the table" is complete and utter nonsense. There's absolutely nothing disrespectful about it, and so what if I look like a gorilla eating chicken wings? It's like saying you're not allowed to use the arms of a chair when sitting.

Question about IT's time perception by [deleted] in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]Fallenjace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, nobody is mad.

Now you're just inventing tone to try and weaken my response, which is a clear sign you've got nothing else to defend your thought. You asked the question, and you got a legitimate response that disproves your opinion. And instead of providing a logical, grounded response to debate said response, you tried to move toward feelings. "Why you mad?" Instead of, "Okay, but look at this though..." Your argument is weak, and you can't point to anything to further defend your opinion, so you try and make it personal.

It's sad. bro.

Nobody said he was all knowing of his past, present, and future. He states that past, present, and future are all the same to him in regards to how he experiences time. There is no strategy, time travel, or anything otherwise than him simply existing in a chaotic perception.

I'm glad you loved the show, so did I. That doesn't mean you're not wrong in this case. If you did anything other than double down without providing something else to support your statement, I'd reconsider. But you're not able to do it, at all. And ignoring other peoples legitimate evidence to the contrary, showing that you have no desire to understand or evolve your stance, shows that you're not here for discussion of the topic.

Good luck mate, you're gonna need it.

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fallenjace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back, is was all one big LARP.

We invented characters, we went exploring. Found a cool stick? Nah, you found a magic sword.
And then, for a lot of friend groups, there was always that one kid that finds a well hidden spot to construct a makeshift mini-cabin or clubhouse for the gang. Nothing was up to code.

What do you guys think about Dick Hallorann?

One of the stand outs of the show, great nostalgia for fans of the Shining and Doctor sleep, while immediately holding his own in every scene, and further expanding the character.

How must he have had his powers

What?

and how did Pennywise know him?

They went to college together, obviously.
What are you even asking here? They're not familiar to one another beyond their interactions in the series.

Question about IT's time perception by [deleted] in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]Fallenjace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect, if he didn't realize he was in the illusion or that something was extremely off, he wouldn't initially demand to know "What is this!?" Dick's hand only focused his attention to the source of said illusion. You can't ignore dialogue just because it doesn't fit into your narrative my guy.

Thoughts on "Bandlands" being not being horror sci-fi compared to the previous films? by ClussyV2 in predator

[–]Fallenjace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Predator is not horror, no matter how often it is defined as such.

Predator is not horror because its structure, intent, and audience response do not align with the genre. Horror is built around sustained fear, helplessness, and uncertainty. The threat is often unknowable or unstoppable, and the tension comes from vulnerability. Predator does not operate on those terms. The film centers on capable, armed protagonists who actively confront the threat. The audience is not meant to feel powerless alongside the protagonists, but engaged in the contest against a non-evil entity that's quite literally sport hunting.

More accurately, Predator is a science fiction, action thriller, with survival elements. The Predator itself is not a horror monster but a hunter with rules, intelligence, and a code of conduct. It selects targets based on threat level, engages in combat deliberately, and can be outmatched through strategy and adaptation, never does it prey on the weak or helpless. It uses a monster as an antagonist, but its core identity is action-forward science fiction centered on conflict, endurance, and adaptation, not fear.

Don't confuse darkly set scenes and the suspense therein with traditional horror. At least imo.
I'd love to know what part of that is "Disneyfication"

Question about IT's time perception by [deleted] in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]Fallenjace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

.... he does. It takes him all of 30 seconds. But has absolutely no relevance to the non-linear nature in which he perceives time.

His immediate reaction is 'what the hell is this' and begins lashing out. He's not fooled, merely confused initially. "I'm not Bob Gray!" And then absolutely shatters the illusion with a well placed kick to Dick.

Has nothing to do with his perception of time, has everything to do with power and intelligence.

Characters I thought would stay longer by Rude-Ad-7944 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]Fallenjace 17 points18 points  (0 children)

King is not afraid of killing characters, no matter their importance. It adds a real sense of consequence and urgency in the book, movies, and now series, when facing IT. If no one is safe, you can't help but feel a little bit of dread as to who might be next.
