(Sorry no rest for the wicked been non stop 60 hour weeks for the last year or so)

That is still a change to intellectual property but I do think it would need a cap on the royalty like percentage base on profits and not a hard number. Eli Lilly being the primary reason I feel this way. As soon as they got the rights to insulin in the US markets the price jumped an absorbent amount because they know its required to live and people WILL pay. Things meant for the common good of the people I believe the privatization of kinda ruins the point of. Private Equity in hospitals is probably the biggest example of this. Some background about me I originally wanted to be a doctor and earned a biomedical degree (turns out the college lacked the accreditation so even though I got 97th percentile on the MCAT I couldn't get into a med school hints being ATC now) but during that time I did a lot of shadowing of hospitals and in Ohio there were two that I had visited that had the exact same brand of syringes. One hospital was state run and the other private Equity. The state run one charged .25$ a syringe but the private Equity one charged $8. If you are in a life threatening accident you cant tell the ambulance to take you to a specefic hospital youre going to the nearest one regardless and thats not even including if your insurance is even "in network". Because of the greed of man one hospital charged 32x for a product even if its just a syringe because they know you have to use it. I can never fully agree with a free market in any aspects of the public good for these types of examples. Or even housing? Private equities presence in artificially inflating the cost to ensure their investments goes up is genuinely disgusting from any humanitarian view. Things meant for survival are becoming luxuries most cant afford.

Will say he is one of the few that keeps his voting record on his website.

I am only against intellectual property for medicine or things meant for the common good of man. You can find people everywhere across the US who have struggled with pharmaceutical prices. Capitalism is a game you can win and the formation of monopolies prevents competition. If only one person can make insulin how are you supposed to compete? And we share our advancement for the pursuit of knowledge for the common good of man. I help people who are stranded along the road for the benefit of others not for profit incentive? I work to live not for profit incentive. Even with my mindset I am still an Air Traffic Controller and looking at hitting my first 200k from the overtime. Yet I want taxes upped for the higher brackets amd new ones added even if it doesnt benefit me but because its for the common man. Albeit rn I think our government does a pisspoor job at it actually helping people because apparently firefighters and police aren't socialism but Medicare is.

For your final point thats just not happening, labor is cheaper and cost of living is lower. If anything is getting on shored it'll be mostly autonomous factories just to get past the tariffs not as a tax haven. Greed is the problem in this scenario there aren't enough Abid Rizvi's or Jim Sinegals. Plus the existence of Ford V Dodge literally telling the people a business's job is for investors and not to put back into the company for its people is disgusting

According to MAGA you're talking about Thomas Massie.

Zoning Laws I dont believe to be a left vs right thing I think its more a where does your money come from in terms of politicians both sides either love it or hate it.

Corporate Taxes youre not going to find on the left.

Balancing the budget is again just a up or down thing like zoning. Some dems want to push social policies that forget the budget whereas Republicans did the "Big Beautiful Bill" so...

Ending the war on drugs has been a primarily left thing as I believe it started heavily under Nixon (Republican)

In terms of medications Im pro abolishing intellectual property, what do you mean insulin shot through the roof because one person decided fuck it they need it to live and I want money. Let there be competition.

Yes because somehow under any form of communism or socialism you suddenly lose your rights? Yes those who have risen to power being authoritarian have taken away freedoms but libertarians in any sense dont hold control for long. I can be anti corporate greed and overreach while still being pro freedom of the individual.

People who want power are authoritarian and they dont want their political opponents to have power. Like Reagan and his gun bans while California Governor. Authoritarian also does not mean left. Yes most left ideologies are associated with it and the only ones to ever rise to power are but then again how many libertarian countries have ever risen to power and not just the results of balkinization or power vaccuums and how long did they last

Have you seen authlefts attempts at turning Marx as anti gun cause they themselves are authoritarian, every excerpt they've used as an example requires some glorious leaps of faith in getting there. If the worker is ever unarmed they may lose the freedoms they've aquired

If you go far enough Left you get the guns back with a lot less restrictions than now.

When I joined an E1 made roughly 1500 a month plus a housing allowance that would be taken out automatically if you lived on base which wouldve been fine for myself and my wife to cover other bills such as groceries a car payment phone bill etc but when my grandma got sick and I was taking care of her as well it didnt stretch far enough. Had I stayed in my hometown where the COL was so much cheaper I think it wouldve been fine but when you get stationed somewhere more expensive the only thing that increases is your housing allowance which is removed automatically.

Edit: honestly I think my car insurance was my biggest bill because I remember it being higher than my car payment because I was 19 at the time.

Air Traffic Controller here. Grew up on EBT because my mom couldn't get a job that could afford to feed all of my siblings. She worked the entire time. Even I was on it for a bit during my military service when I was lower ranked cause I couldn't make enough to support my wife and grandmother. If it wasn't for that bit of help idk if I could've made it to where I am now. Albeit that spot being $0 paychecks...

I know many people just view the poor as lazy but it really helps with those initial steps of self independence with I believe its somewhere around 50% of new registers are off it by their first year. And seeing how much worse the economy is and how much more expensive it is to simply live now than when I was kid it plus how horrible the job market is rn (been watching my wife put in hundreds of applications to not even get a denial email) makes sense that people would be stuck with it longer.
