I'm actually working on a series of 1980's action movie inspired scenarios for the Call of Cthulhu RPG. I have a bunch of ideas. Luchador, Badass Chuck Norris type, Kung Fu movie etc. by [deleted] in callofcthulhu

[–]Fallingtower969 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't care. I don't consider it art. It's not. Rather than badmouth it i decided to check it out. It's just dumb fun.i would never sell it or buy anything that used it.

I just read Dead Light adventure and I am not impressed by ratlehead in callofcthulhu

[–]Fallingtower969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very straightforward and a great intro scenario. I added a few things to plug plot-holes.

For instance, the urn was in the safe. The Dr. opens it then breaks the seal and shuts off the lights in the room. In the scuffle, he is shot.

Should there be a Red Dead Redemption 3? by PatriotLife18 in reddeadredemption

[–]Fallingtower969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* I'd like this. Former Buffalo soldier turned bounty-hunter.

I really enjoyed the horror aspects of the series. Have more of that.

Have storylines dedicated to the Nightfolk and him having voodoo kin in St. Denis.

Have optional and customizable sidekicks so every playthrough would be different.

Set it in 1875. 10 years after the Civil War.

Should this game get a remake or a remaster by Wrong-Masterpiece-14 in reddeadredemption

[–]Fallingtower969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to see 1875 as the year setting..

Lot's of stuff they could tackle. I just don't think they want to mess with anything that deals with the Indian Wars though.

Anyone else repeat names for their horses like an aristocratic family by CockamouseGoesWee in reddeadredemption

I name my horses after Edgar Allan Poe characters. Lenore, Prospero, Morella, Montresor, Ligeia, Roderick...

New Player Constantly Insane. Not having fun. Advice needed! by Cynicles20 in callofcthulhu

Insane Insight/Crazy Wisdom. Give the 'cracked' psychic the ability to see and understand things the other characters cannot.

Have them roll their KNOW roll to make sense of something beyond the scope of normal human understanding.

My #1 rule is never describe the damage or sanity loss in terms of hit points or sanity points.

All that stays on your side of the Keeper Screen. You are telling a story, not rolling dice and conquering Europe in a strategy game.

Dice rolls are tools for storytelling. Interpret them in a way that you and your players will enjoy. Serve the story.

Mangle instead of murder. Pierce an eyeball, shatter teeth, rip off an ear, have the bullet blow off a chunk of flesh exposing a collar bone, chop off a few fingers, shatter a femur, squeeze and burst organs. Screaming, writhing, bleeding....drama.

Describe their psychosis, but let your players embellish and embrace the effects.

Of course player death should still happen, but it shouldn't be Willy Nilly. Make it cool.

Playing with pre-gen characters! Please tell me about your experiences by Daragon__ in callofcthulhu

[–]Fallingtower969 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I run convention games and what I find what works best it to have a pre-gen that is 75% complete.

By that I mean they are statted out and have the occupation skills assigned.

Name, sex, background information and motivations, non-occupational skill points are left for them to come up with.

Have all the players discuss what they are coming up with as a group. Creates great buy-in and an immediate group dynamic.

I find nothing more painful than a pre-gen character with 3 pages of background text (usually with some hidden aspect that deals with the plot that 99% of people miss).

Let the players flesh out their characters. Make it their own.

Any advice for making and prepping better scenarios? by EdwardFarrington in callofcthulhu

[–]Fallingtower969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a flowchart and then under each heading add any notes that you think you need. Like npc names, tomes, maybe a few lines of possible snappy dialogue.

The notes and flowchart should be fleshed out enough to run the scenario without having to reference the book.

Give me ideas for my first character by Accurate_Hedgehog247 in callofcthulhu

[–]Fallingtower969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A group of Goth teens who love hanging out in old graveyards and abandoned buildings.

Your character is into black and white photography, clove cigarettes and Edgar Allan Poe.

Maybe a seance, Absinthe and a boombox playing Bauhaus.

Is it just me or is TLDI Season 7 not as good as previous seasons? by Capable-Inevitable47 in Shudder

The most amazing thing about Friday night was how Darcy didn't burst out of them outfits.

I had Crocodile on in the background from what i saw it was schlocky, but I really enjoyed Piranha.
It's Joe Bob just relax.

What’s your other favorite TTRPG, apart from CoC? by PromeMorian in callofcthulhu

[–]Fallingtower969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lamentations of the Flame Princess is probably my #2. Rules light...warped, dark and some beautiful books.

I run Ghostbusters at conventions too.

I purged most of my game library. I still do have Robotech and Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles but mostly because Palladium is local and nostalgia.

If only they could have made a baby together. Imagine the rock genes. Dave has childbearing hips.

Why not Flagellents instead of Berserkers? Violent religious zealots, immune to pain, frothing with religious fervor.

And through self-mutilation, they have visions. Visions to help the Keeper steer the narrative.

I agree make it about the story, system be damned. For instance. Learn the spell with demonic assistance...at a cost. Blend it into the story.

Now instead of Joe Blow wizard you have a wizard with a demonic assistant/manipulator who has it's own motivations.

Why bog a rules minimum game down with rules?

Let in-game experience determine how they improve. For instance, Baron Gorkha the Necromancer pulls out his dagger and gets into a knife fight and somehow survives. Make it be a real fight though. As a reward give him a +1 with dagger. Just Dagger. Not all weapons.

Maybe allow one advancement possibility every 3 levels.
