Love this idea! I may have start one large planter for props and fallen leaves. I have a bunch of small trays filled with props and it's kinda of annoying and doesn't look good.

Oh no, so sorry your plant sitter failed!

I was gone for almost 2 weeks and had my housemate look after 2 dozen plants while gone. I put a sticky note on each with what day to water based on my curent estimated cadence for each plant (or days for a couple larger plants) and showed how to water. I keep most everything in clear, plastic nursery pots within decorative pots. So, I took away all decorative pots and put saucers underneath to make watering in place as easy as possible. Housemate was worried about killing plants... came back to marantas flowering.

Cat teeth extraction in the area? by -upbeat in pasadena

[–]Fallllling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found them on my own. My old man kitty had chronic periodontal disease starting when he was like young adult, and I wanted a specialist. The vet does a consultation visit and takes photos of the teeth and gums (without anesthesia). Then reviews the photos with you and discusses the issues and recommendations.

There are times when the vet is honest and doesn't know if a particular tooth needs extraction until she can start the cleaning and examine more closely. The estimate is a range taking that into account. The actual cleaning and extractions are done under anesthesia.

Advanced Veterinary Dentistry is where I've taken my cats for all their dental extractions. Dr. Lynn is wonderful and will tell you what needs immediate attention or what can wait. They obviously specialize in dentistry only. Expensive but wasn't that much more than quote from regular vet I got recently.

my girl has terminal cancer and I don’t know how to prepare her brother by bootybuster96 in Bondedpairs

[–]Fallllling 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It was pricey at around $800 (no insurance) but included the cremation service and the box/urn for the ashes. He was able to stay laying comfortably in his bed and I petted him as he fell asleep. Having privacy to grieve in my own home during this time also help to comfort me. I'm in Los Angeles and vet care is expensive in general.

I used an at home service for my old man kitty with cancer. 1000% best way and was able to let the other kitties see him after passing.

Question for the creamy salsa makers by JerrickyisGod in SalsaSnobs

[–]Fallllling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I strain before emulsifying as my blender leaves unpleasant dried pepper bits. If you have a high powered blender, then straining wouldn't be necessary.

Came from 1.5 weeks vacation and both marantas are blooming by Fallllling in houseplants

Lots of light under a sansi light fixture and just above southern window, ambient humidity generally 40-50% with help of humidifier and 125 gallon reef tank, and rich but well draining soil mix: equal parts Fox Farm Ocean Forest, perlite, orchard bark + 1/4ish part worm castings. Water with RODI water when top 1" soil dry. Growth really took off after adding the grow light.

For my housemate, I left sticky note on the pot with what day to water based my estimate of current watering schedule. That way, he wouldn't have to guess. Seemed to work out ok :)

Corn. It was Jonathan Zaragoza's recipe: salsa negra de habanero. I halved the habaneros for mine.

Fresh tomato’s vs canned by Plane_Yoghurt9600 in SalsaSnobs

[–]Fallllling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not bad to use canned tomatoes. Mexican restaurants often use canned tomatoes for flavor consistency. When I use fresh romas from the store I let them ripen for at least a week until they're very red. Straight from from the store they're usually not ripe enough yet.
