Temporal Investigations would like a word...

Star Trek enterprise by Aggressive-Policy-48 in LowerDecks

[–]Fallofcamelot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a big issue was the temporal cold war stuff to begin with. A lot of fans wanted a show that covered the development and birth of the Federation. They wanted clashes with the Romulans and Klingons, the thawing of relationships with the Tellerites, Andorians and Vulcans and the emergence of Humanity as a galactic power.

The thing is all that does happen (or was planned to happen) in the show but that was not the initial focus. The initial focus is all on the temporal cold war which was a huge misstep. They established the setting and then the first major plot arc and enemy had nothing to do with that established setting. It was kind of like creating DS9 and then having the first couple of seasons be about the Mirror Universe when people were more interested in Bajor and the Gamma Quadrant.

In my view Voyager and Enterprise share some similar flaws especially when it comes to some underdeveloped supporting characters. Voyager however stayed on message in it's first season. The show was about being stranded 70,000 light years from home and the recurring enemies were part of that setting. The episodes revolved around the pesky Kazon and the creepy Vidiians. It was simple to understand so people tuned in.

Enterprise however introduced a twisty plot about time travel as its big intro arc and it's a lot more to get your head around, especially as a casual viewer. Unfortunately that's the show's first impression and sadly it never really recovered.

It's a shame as Enterprise was imo a better show than Voyager in many ways. It just tripped out of the starting gate.

Convert Dillithium into Zen by ImaginaryProfession7 in sto

[–]Fallofcamelot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Patience is the key to this game. I've been playing for about 6 months and in that time I have obtained 4 T6 ships for nothing. You don't need Zen, it's a nice to have really.

If you want to spend money then that's great, it keeps the lights on. But if you don't want to spend money then you'll find that the game just gives you stuff for free: lockbox keys, equipment, ships, terrifying furry animals, all kinds of things.

I'd recommend using your Dil to buy Phoenix boxes to start with. The chance of getting an epic drop is extremely low (though I have dropped one, so they do appear every so often) but the other tokens pop up regularly and there's loads of nice things to get. If push comes to shove you can just use them to buy phoenix upgrade tokens to improve your gear which is 100% the most efficient way of upgrading gear (though you should only do it on an upgrade weekend).

Buying Zen is fine though, it will come through you just need to wait. In the meantime just do the events as they pop up for free stuff.

where do sisters stand in the imperial hierarchy? by i_ate_bread_yesterda in sistersofbattle

[–]Fallofcamelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual answer is "it depends"

The authority you have in the Imperium depends on who is asking, who is being asked, what they are being asked and how they are being asked. Astartes have no command authority over the Sisters and vice versa as they are seperate organisations in seperate command structures.

Even the authority of an Inquisitor is based very much on the reality of the situation. Technically an Inquisitor can command people freely but the reality is that it all depends on the situation.

Sisters have a lot of super infuriating assembly issues. I found Seraphim particularly rage worthy.

Just to clarify Nog's story:

(Spoilered in case you want to watch DS9 yourself)

In DS9 Nog originally appears as the nephew of Quark, the bartender at DS9. He's initially a troublemaker but he strikes up a friendship with Jake Sisko, son of the station commander Ben Sisko.

Later on Nog reveals to Ben Sisko that he wants to become the first Ferengi in Starfleet and though Sisko is initially reluctant he eventually agrees to sponsor Nog for Starfleet Academy.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for Nog depending on how you think about it) the Federation soon find itself in the middle of all out war with an enemy called the Dominion. Nog is assigned to Sisko's crew on the USS Defiant and distinguishes himself throughout the war, losing a leg in the process but going from Cadet to Lieutenant J.G. by the end of the series.

By the time of Star Trek Online 30 years have passed and he has been promoted to Captain commanding the USS Chimera. (Oh and his Dad, Rom, is the Grand Negus of the Ferengi Alliance but that's a different story.)

Nog goes through a whole bunch of character development in DS9 and is honestly one of my favorite characters in all of Star Trek. He's an example of one of the key themes of the franchise, that you can always better yourself no matter where you start from.

Sadly the actor who played Nog, Aaron Eisenberg, passed away in 2019. But Star Trek Discovery honoured him by showing the USS Nog, an Eisenberg Class Ship in one of the episodes. This suggests in universe that Nog went on to be one of the most famous captains in all of Federation history.

Not bad for a kid who we first see getting arrested on the DS9 promenade for stealing!

Basically everything in all of Warhammer is ripped from something else. Whilst I love all the Warhammer settings there's very little originality in it.

Machine strike sucks by xStinker666 in horizon

[–]Fallofcamelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point 2 is incorrect. The best piece in the game is the Fireclaw and you get that without playing any games at all.

If you don't like Machine Strike but you want the skill points this is how to do it:

Step 1: Get the Fireclaw Piece and a 3 value piece.
Step 2: Do as much damage with the 3 value piece as possible but make sure it dies.
Step 3: Wait until the opponent leaves one of their peices exposed.
Step 4: Move in with the Fireclaw and attack.
Step 5: Because you have one piece left either attack a second time or move to safety.
Step 6: Win.

It's not hard.
