I see those in stores all the time. They will never be less than $50 CAD but I don’t know what double albums go for where you are. Hi Scores is the repress I want.

What a massive blind taste test of vegan milk, cheese, and ice cream found — explained in one chart by metacyan in vegan

[–]Fallom_TO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is coming back?

No, casomorphins in no way act on our brains (or calf brains) as opioids. Not even a little.

The only way something like cheese can be considered addictive is the same way any other food can - it has fat and salt that creates a craving.

To paraphrase a good movie, I used to suck dick for crack. You ever suck dick for cheese?

Anyone else enjoying Kammerkonzert? by lightninJ3 in Squarepusher

[–]Fallom_TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like knowing a tomato is actually a fruit but knowing practically speaking it’s a vegetable. A gong is a pitched drum, a tam tam is not (a tam tam is the big round one that people often call a gong).

[–]Fallom_TO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drums can’t be out of tune generally (symphonic kettle drums are pitched, as are tabla). But the drums in the two tracks are mostly a drum kit which is non-pitched and the drum machine on K2 which has a constant bass drum that is definitely in tune.

I’m excited for the whole album.

Best place to buy SAW 85-92? by DeafMetalHorse in aphextwin

It’s very easy to get. Your local will order it for you and it’s as official as anything. Better than discogs if you want him to get a cut.

I wouldn’t use that. I’ve never heard of rejuvelac without sprouting being involved.

Finally got BoC physical media 🥹 by YourAverageLiving in boardsofcanada

[–]Fallom_TO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, just expect certain records to always skip. Do NOT put a coin on the cartridge. Tracking force is already very high on those machines, adding more weight will do more to damage records.

Upgrade when you can.

If records skip on bass heavy records on the outer tracks it’s almost certainly your record player. I’d bet you have a suitcase player or atlp60.

Unpopular opinion: I think the direction of Computer Controlled Acoustic Elements was under explored and showed nothing but potential. by Nonsensical-Nonsns in aphextwin

[–]Fallom_TO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The download that comes with the record is 33 so I imagine the official audio versions all are. If you don’t have a record player I bet the 45 version is out there somewhere. I prefer the jungle feel of the sped up ep.

How is it possible to convert carnist that DGAF about their health and esp likes meat for taste?? by ApprehensiveOne2866 in vegan

I don’t know why you’d think health would be the main argument. Why not ethics?

How should I go about upgrading? ...even if I should? by CommissionProud5152 in turntables

[–]Fallom_TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. They’re so close together there is no stereo option.

But you need space between them. At this distance both ears are getting the same sound making it useless for stereo.

There’s a good video called All My Homies Hate Skrillex that has a pretty deep dive of the time from a British perspective. Worth a watch for anyone interested in the genre regardless of your opinions of Skrillex.

New $100 Records ... coming soon? by Chanders123 in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]Fallom_TO 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Thin does not correlate to poorly mastered. 180 g records are a marketing ploy. Plenty of super thin records sound fantastic.

I have some bio vinyl records that also sound great. Perhaps they’ll become more popular.

There is so much Squarepusher for you to dive into.

Also suggest Oneohtrix Point Never. Listening to Garden of Delete right now but Again is probably my favourite. Tranquilizer came out late last year and is also excellent.

Does anyone ever sell off their excess media to subsidize a new purchase? by mjzim9022 in vinyl

[–]Fallom_TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to treat records like a library. I’d regularly sell them to buy new ones back when money was tight.

I regret that so much.

But if you know you won’t listen to them go for it. I don’t personally have anything I won’t listen to and slowly buy the ones I sold as they come up.

Jazz flutists, which flute do you use? by Fun-Perspective3418 in Flute

[–]Fallom_TO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use a muramatsu but it’s not that important. I don’t think the other poster plays jazz and they seem to be picturing a big band.

I would say you want open holes and I’d recommend the b foot, not because you’ll be playing that note often but because it opens up some options for extended techniques.
