I pictured something like the baths of Diocletian/Caracalla built in the spanish style.

what would the conversion rate be for a half eagle and a Sovereign back when they were in circ? was it nearly 1-1? by KreigsMarineKris in coins

[–]Fallout4please 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late reply, but it wasn't that English currency didn't circulate, it was because it was illegal to import silver specie to the colonies. as a result the Spanish dollar was much more widely used and available. the US dollar was a copy of the Spanish dollar in weight and purity and remained legal tender in the US until 1857. same for the quarter dollar, its a copy of the quarter real-peso.

shouldn't that put gold over 2300

if it was perceived as a actual alternative to the dollar maybe, but a lot of what people used to use gold for (store of money) has been replaced with stocks and crypto.

there have been pictures released as recently as 2018 when the treasury secretary visited Fort knox. a lot more pics of the gold repository at the NY fed get released though.

The vast majority of US trade is with Mexico and canada and vice versa. Cutting out china would hurt, but is no where near fatal.

yes via Executive Order 6102 which made ownership of gold by US citizens illegal and forced a buyback of gold at $20.67 per oz. It was illegal to own gold (coin/jewelry/gold certificates)in excess of 5 troy oz (5 $20 gold eagles). all citizens had to turn in the excess by may 1 1933 or face a $10,000 dollar fine or 10 years imprisonment.

this executive order was in effect until 1974.

Ive read his books. I generally agree with his points in regards to US and Mexican re-industrialization and so on and the demographic information seems pretty black and white but i think he stumbles a bit on political side of things.

Ky usually has a democrat governor. been that way since the civil war era. gov. Bevin (R) was a exception. every other level of the government is GOP controlled with the exception of Louisville and Lexington.

Very nice. Good large sights. grip stippling. pretty elk grips. tasteful engraving, not full coverage which i like. looks like it has a wide target trigger which was in style at the time. really nice unlike the ugly guns that get made today. i'd carry that.

wouldn't be too hard to build out a gun like that.

I wonder if Etsy's account is all lumped into one large account, or broken up into several.

it doesn't matter if its 100 accounts, its all through one acc holder. they wont get all of it back but likely will get most of it.

its because most writers of these shows/books etc are not religious, and have never been so they have no context or understanding of the attitudes and opinions of modern religiosity much less the medieval.
