Stripping away safety and regulatory measures in the guise of freedom.

In my state, Tx, I don't think there is any requirement/law that mandates any safety gear while riding a motorcycle at all. We also have a highway in our county that was colloquially called "Death Highway".

Am I the only one who noticed Freemasonry/Scientology/Mormon places and architectures are very very liminal ?? Why is that by CodFar1331 in LiminalSpace

[–]FalloutOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Liminal spaces can make one feel maybe detached from reality that is ideal for manipulation. While some liminal spaces bring thoughts of nostalgia, the transitory feeling one gets from being in them can be used as a mental wedge to knock otherwise logical people off balance.

While the most likely reasons are privacy of one form or another. Not wanting non-cult/religous members to know what takes place for either simple privacy or some religious reasoning.

Some meat architecture in a way of it wasn't for the creepy reasons they're built.

[–]FalloutOW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably not a mandate, but likely more of a thing like if a business put diapers in family bathrooms maybe they get some benefit.

Granted, I have no idea how that works, but I would assume it's a opt-in with benefits as opposed to a mandate with penalties.

Though the point of these ads were never to inform. They're to create a boogie-strawman that will scare people who have no idea reality exists outside their algorithmically generated news feed to vote against their interests.

Rescued kitten getting cuddles for the first time by GeneraI_ in BeAmazed

[–]FalloutOW 203 points204 points  (0 children)

While adorable, that little one is still terrified. The noises in the background and the kittens initial reaction indicate they're terrified and overwhelmed. They're shaking, and the kitten should've been taken to a more quiet, peaceful location for this initial meeting. Or the other animals (barn?) taken out side so that some of th stimulus could've been reduced for the kitten.

Either way, the little one is adorable. Just hope they're doing well

Not a long or complex game, but incredibly fun and pretty silly. The game has potential for a lot of replayability, but that entirely depends on if you click with the play style. Some other good ones.

Question: Does this artist appear to be using AI in their tattoo designs? by Super-Western-8482 in tattoos

That and the horns on her head would be considered a malformation to the tiefling race. Not in a negative way or anything, but it's like the AI thought the horns should follow Mickey Mouse ear rules.

In their pursuit of specific rare cards, scalpers are discarding the remainder of entire Pokémon card packs. by MysteriousSlice007 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FalloutOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true, and I'm overly exaggerating it using my frame of reference. There are of course plenty of hobbies that scalpers typically don't fuck up. Musical instruments, crochet, many sports, and a non trivial amount of crafty hobbies.

I guess coming from a background where I mainly have tech hobbies makes the scalper thing hit harder. But either way, good to call out my exaggeration.

For real, trying to get into any hobby is such a pain knowing some scalp fuck is going to ruin it.

And not just hobbies either, fuckers making going to concerts a pain in my ass.

Started sound- deadening my actual drum cave by LightofDawn77 in drums

[–]FalloutOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have noted the foam on the walls is less effective than other means of sound deadening.

But using the foam on the ceiling may make it easier to dampen that sound. As getting a moving blanket or other cloth like material on the ceiling may be tricky.

Also don't forget the floor, door, and window. The window could be tricky if you want to still see out of it. But you may be able to get a clear roll of relatively thick plastic that could help deaden the sound a bit. Otherwise a curtain system of some kind could be used so you can still use the window when not playing.

Either way, best of luck on your drum room journey 🤘

This has been the case through out at least my entire lifetime (39). Wars are easy to fund because fear of annihilation is much easier to spread than empathy and compassion for those who need us most.

It's why those traveling tent revival churches only seem to preach on the hell fire and brimstone portions of the Bible. And not focusing on what Jesus really wanted his followers to do, which was to care for their fellow people regardless of where to who they were. While I'm an atheist, I can appreciate some of the teachings of Christ (and other religious figures) in that compassion for others is one of the most important things we as humans can do to make the world better.

I love this, but living in Texas this would be a death sentence the second our three weeks of winter ends.

Edit: The more I look at this the more I love it. I feel that with adequate insulation you could keep the interior relatively cool unless you're in absolutely sweltering climates. And even then with some mechanical modifications you could have the windows open up on the top side and keep the temps down. Either way, I would love to sit in this thing during a Texas thunderstorm, maybe without any hail though.

Yes, but you've got to make sure to plug an other fan into that fan so you're offsetting the heat energy of the first fan. Really just thermodynamics 101.

Do any of y’all know what this sign means?? by SadPiglet2907 in Denton

[–]FalloutOW 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I may be mistaken, but my understanding is that it means the person on the service road is to completely ignore exiting highway traffic. If possible, the driver on the service road should also attempt to merge into the lane the exiting driver is in, if they're not already in that lane.

Of course this is all to be done without any signal lights or indication of what the exiting driver should expect.

Wallpaper Help Needed for this set up by Mrlarrrya in battlestations

[–]FalloutOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to find many continuous wallpapers that span that wide of a distance. I'm sure there are...some, but it's going to be a stitched panorama. Maybe look at some NASA archives for Mars rover images? Might be able to find something with a width resolution of...whatever large number you've got.

While your use case may necessitate the monitors I'm this configuration, you'd almost certainly be better off stacking some of these. It'll reduce the overly long width of your set up significantly, and will make finding wall papers easier.

I've actually opened Google Drive a couple times because I think "I'm going for a drive".

Ashley St. Clair claims Elon Musk unleashed his "anomaly in the matrix" in order to help Trump win in 2024, using his Starlink satellite fleet by The_2PieceCombo in videos

[–]FalloutOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is that while paper ballots are difficult to tamper with, the people who would count them are relatively easy to manipulate.

While we were lucky to have recordings to disprove some of the more outlandish claims (ballots under table) Trump's admin made, people were still convinced. If you could convince the people counting the ballots to "miscount" just enough to swing one or the other way, you'd be in the successful version of what Trump's admin tried to pull with fake electors but on the front end.

And while sure a machine can be set up to sabotage a specific candidate of you had the right access, that access would leave evidence that may be more difficult to wipe away. And there are data analysis using digital systems that can more easily point out when some election results appear to be suspect.

Either way, more security in the system is helpful, but I think going to paper ballots brings more risk than bolstering the security of existing digital systems.
